1980 was the first year of the downslope sheet metal design on the hood and front fenders and also the addition of the water ridges on the trunk corners. You always knew if it rained the night before as water would gather at the rear decklid corners!
My Dad talked me out of buying one of these for my 1st car back in 1988. It was a coupe, in the middle trim level if I remember right, and had the 350 V8 making it by far the most powerful car I test drove. I did wind up with a 1983 Cutlass Supreme coupe in these exact colors, which was more suitable car for an 18 year old, but it was powered by the 231 V6. He also vetoed a 1981 Chrysler Cordoba with the 318 V8 that I liked really well. Looking back, I'm pretty sure he was vetoing anything that had bigger than one of the 260ish cubic inch V8's that were available in those model years. Both of us were looking primarily for GM B or A/G body cars, so it really came down to the condition of the car whether I tried to buy it or not.
Find youself a 1977 model year. It was the first year of the downsized 88 and had nicer rear end styling. But best of all, it was avaible with the 403 engine. Not huge HP, but loads of torque. I miss that car!
Good vid. Last year for the 350 Olds v8. I wouldn't say these are that hard to find. You see them on ebay or you tube being showcased or for sale in great condition. Love 2 door B bodies. Learned how to drive in a 1985 LeSabre 2 door
About the same. I've driven a caprice, a lesabre and a Delta 88 all from the early-mid 1980s. Not much difference. The lesabre seemed softer sprung than the others but that may have been just wear and tear. All of these cars were at least 15 years old by the time I got in them. Would be neat to compare them all brand new.
Ah man I had this exact same car. First car I drove cross country in. So comfortable and in early 80’s only cost $125.

Oh yes. I like it too. And want to buy one.
Great video! I currently own a 1983 oldsmobile delta 88 couple with 43000 original kilometers, great car,i love it.
Awesome! Sounds like a great car!
I think it's a mighty fine coupe! And hi from Oshawa!
Greetings to the far side of the the GTA!
A true beauty

Thanks for sharing. I think the cutlass has the 81 Cordoba beat on the looks and driving dynamics, but I still covet them!

403 is a good cruising motor!
Beautiful

Right on. I learned in a 1985 Caprice... but it was a four door.
My favorite car forever
Right on!
Do these ride better than a Chevy Caprice?
