My father was a lifelong friend of A B MacLeod who was likewise a friend of John Samuel the owner of the G.C.R. I was of similar age to the children in the vid but thanks to the connection to 'Uncle Mac' I had access to otherwise off limits areas. I have great memories of the many times I visited Greywood before Samuel passed away. My very first ride was behind Mere Hall.
absolutely brilliant,i volunteer at the great cockcrow railway, and its amazing of what rolling stock and locos it still has
thanks for sharing this. five star
Actually in Burwood Park, in Hersham! It may not have been open to the public, but many local children used to ride the railway on a Sunday afternoon. There are a couple of pictures on the net which include my brother and I riding behind Mere Hall.
This was featured on episode 46 of The Footage Detectives on TPTV (you can find it on their Encore online service)
