      I was born in the summer of 1976 but I do appreciate the quality furniture offered and other knickknacks. It amazes me how much the prices for the food products offered were reasonable, especially those which are still around.
      And as for the commercials, some of them.are familiar to me. What I noticed about those old commercials is how intimate they were. It is as though each actor was speaking directly to each individual😊.

      The very original old Price is Right aired on prime time TV in the late 1950's with the host being Bill Cullen. The format of these evening shows was simpler. I actually have four of these night time episodes on DVD, along with many daytime Bob Barker episodes. I remember that on one nighttime show the players had to bid for an actual house in Florida. The cost turned out to be $14,000, ridiculously cheap. You can probably Google these ancient episodes which have a much simpler format.

    Interesting the wheel bonus for $1 was $1,000 back then in 1976, and still today. Granted you can now win more with a bonus spin.. however $1000 was worth significantly more in buying power!

    • @dwightrenfield2241
      @dwightrenfield2241 3 роки тому +3

      Some things certainly were! likely because they were generally higher-quality and made in the US.
      But people then didn't have all the additional "needs" we have today. In contrast, other items were much cheaper: food, rent, gas, cars. And cable tv wasn't $200/month. TV was free back then, but you only had about 4-6 channels. :D

    • @meisteria1884
      @meisteria1884 Рік тому +1

      Things lasted longer. And regular people didn't have the "need" for all the ridiculous stuff we think we need today.
      The dollar wasn't nearly as de-valued as it is today - so you normally got a lot more quality for your dough.

      This show is a few years too late for there to be many good looking new cars; there certainly weren't any featured in this particular episode. You can count on one hand the number of good looking American cars produced for the 1976 model year:
      Dodge Dart
      Plymouth Duster
      Chevrolet Corvette
      Chevrolet Camaro
      Pontiac Firebird
      There were a lot of good looking exotic cars in 1976 from companies such as Ferrari, Lamborghini, Maserati, Porsche, etc., but none of those would have been on The Price is Right.
