To answer a few questions and clear up some 'fake news'...
MJX sent out an email to everyone they sent these to for review. I will quote some of the stuff that was in the email:
"It is recommended to use 3S battery. If you require strong power, use 4S, but be aware that it is relatively more vulnerable due to its powerful force."
"When using 4S battery, do not use the maximum throttle to idle the wheel, as the power is too strong and it can easily cause tire bursts"
"there are some shortcomings in this car, such as the short shock absorber stroke and the short clearance between the chassis and the ground. This car is more similar to a truggy, but we are working on improving these issues and will adjust the parameters of shock absorbers."
"We hope that testers can provide us with feedback, suggestions or ideas as soon as possible after playing with the car. "
"We are eager to receive feedback to update the V2 version. We hope our fans and customers having good experiences of playing our products. "
That was all the information we got at the same time as the truck arriving.... so if you hear it in a review, it's because WE already knew some of the short comings.... these were not problems that have been found since getting the trucks. (I believe these issues were discovered on the very small amount that people managed to get very early after initial release before most of the review sample were sent out). If anyone has made you think that they discovered some of these issues/concerns during their review, then well.... 🤷♂
In '99, I got stationed in Okinawa. First stop after getting quarters: Buy cars for the wife and I.
An R32 GTS-T and a Honda City Turbo came home with us that night, for the grand total of... $6000.
Those were the days, guys.
Pretty expensive for two rc cars...

I love the honest way you deal with things like this. Thankyou for your integrity
I try :)
That's a very nice gift from your Dad. I hope he's keeping well Phil.
Good call wait for the v2 to come out Thankyou
Love how the xx10 Tex is in the background. Next video right? 🙂
Just got my FTX Utah, it's an awesome little package for the money. My only issues are the body catches on the wheels and that it still uses clips. Nice find with the turbo city👍🏼
Fully agree. Glad you made this situation completely clear. Thanks.
I own 3pcs 16th scales and 2 pcs 14 scale of the mjx drifters. I am super happy with them.. been trying to kill the 16208 with a year of ramp bashing .. apart from changing a few things, a shell, and screws… its hard to kill.
I put spacers (i think it was 15 or 20mm) and larger wheels 103mm and keep it on 2s 100% …perfect for ramp bashing.
@tomly do a side by side comparison for the v1 and v2 after its released to see what they have changed or fixed.
Well... As an old and wise man once said... Sh*t happens. I hope they do it justice.
Thanks, Phil! 😊
Stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊
I completely agree with you on waiting for one that we are actually going to buy. Or get one from a production model
Wow! Amazing find! Those Honda City kits are hard to get your hands on. I wish Tamiya would bring it back. I would love to build one. Can't wait to see the video.
Fur sure man, I agree with ya! Wanna know what I'm getting not what's incomplete, or a diff version of what was reviewed. Thanks, appreciate ya!
absolutely agree. a few small changes can go a long way. hope they make it good. or else its just another RTR that needs a servo, upgraded this and that etc
I appreciate your honesty on this review, this is why I love your videos! Also, either your hands are really big or that truck is really small but it really doesn’t look like it’s a 1/10!🤣👍👍
I would like to see progress and I think this process of refining the product with users is cool. I agree with you that it's not fair to evaluate a pre-production version, but I think it's cool to make a video of it and compare where it can improve in relation to others on the market.
No comparison between this and the Omni Terminator carbon RTR 🎉
tqvm for the news and review.have a nice day
I'd suggest a test video similar to a review but focusing on areas to improve (like suspension travel) and have a disclaimer banner on the screen for the whole video (beta test in progress)
That would still mean spending 2 days on a model that people can't buy anymore
Glad to see you called them out as I had heard people mention about the V2 but didn't say exactly how that was going to work glad you cleared it up
Yes, I noticed not much info about it.. so decided to make this video
You are going to love that Fiesta VXL. They are a blast.
Yeah totally agree with you would be nice to see a full review of the v2 variant !
Maybe feel like they threw these out to build hype before the retail model gets a green light ?
I’ll be honest mind some very steep competition.
Hope your well Phil ,
Stay awesome
Chris 🤙
Alex kowaliuk here, mr tomley just wanted to remind you I really enjoy your work . The little Honda turbo build that's coming is mouthwatering. Cannot wait please make it a long one, well as long as you can make work that's just such a nice RC from the day. ❤❤❤
Yes, got a nice detailed video to do
Thanks for the heads up about the V2. You did the right thing.
Good on you Phil. I agree you've taken the right approach here.
Can't wait to see what videos are coming next👌
Great little table top review and im glad you picked up on some of the issues i did :) Fully agree that they should properly test and QC before sending out. We (well not you aha) have been their testers and they now know what to put right on v2 which i think is important. Yeah its not the best way to go about it but im pretty sure most appreciate a good look at the v1 to see what the hype is about. Good news (well kind of) is no one can buy one yet and the ones people do buy will be fantastic for sure as its great for the money. Great vid and im looking forward to reviewing the V2 upon release :)
I didn't pick anything up... it was all in the email ;)
@@tomley_rc maybe we got different emails but on mine only the ground clearance and shock stroke was mentioned.. very odd. Still it’s nice me and fellow reviewers who did chose to test the v1 found the other issues which is vital for a successful product for our loyal peeps 👌 all the best
Oh that's cool. I was wondering what the car in your main pfp was. I figured it was just a rendering 👍
Appreciate the honesty ✌✌To me it helps people to know what theyre buying
Apart from tomleyrc, theres a few other YT channels I go to for reviews and this video has really shown who you can trust to tell it like it is. I have 4 other MJX which are great and was waiting to order this based on MJX reputation and my previous experience of their products. Nice one Phil, you saved me from wasting a lot of money......looks like its gonna be the Quantum flux2 for me 👍
Totally agree with you about the MJX review and thanks for the honest words about it. I wanted one but now I will wait for the revised model and your full test.
This is the version 1 that rc reviewers are sent to give feedback so public get to have the rc become better, then version 2 comes out to rc reviewers and the public
@@lyricofwise6894 Ok but then no point on making videos about this version. Other youtubers should test the car and not publish videos just send feedback to MJX.
This is why we love you, Phil! Good job. bro!
Cheers dude
And this is why people love you! Pure integrity! Not in for a quick views and subs grab … good call
If you chase views all the time you'll end up loosing your core audience pretty quickly
I get what you say.
Nevertheless, you are in the perfect position to do these reviews to point out flaws and show the improvements in different versions.
It really depends if you mind being a beta tester.
But Im not the one who has to put in the work, soo...😆
Thanks for your honesty!
The truck looks reall good but performance ( jumping, landing, handling )came up short in my opinion. I think i still want one if it is fixed by MJX. I have too many RCs that need some help becoming awesome.
I got the new rally vxl.. its.. ok.. after i swapped in 6s system from a kraton and ran it on 4s because of the 2050kv motor.. then it was fun.. the vxl system gets really hot.. ditch thatand your good
So glad I watched this. Thanks.
Nice truck cant wait till u get the v2
Can't wait for the Rally Vxl
In simple words, that MJX is still on the working bench
Company: no worries they will still buy our stuff!
Me: hard no!
With the MJX Hyper Go 14210 they also released a V1 and a after a few weeks they released the V2 with bigger driveshafts but I don't think there were many reviewers with the V1 the well known version was the V2 and then the amazon version
Yes, that was another one that got changed pretty quick. If only they did their own testing rather than tarnishing their brand
@@tomley_rcOr some of the rc companies to release models to rc reviewers as for beta testing and not for public retail (Maybe they want to see video evidence, and to gauge more on what the public/audience likes or wants in comments, and likes to be improved specific to the rc about to be released).
In such a case, also saw another comment that had good idea to put disclaimer of in beta testing.
Well that seems to be a very unusual way to release a product. I don't know why they didn't just test a bit more and release it later. Better to be good and a bit behind schedule.
Amen to that Phil
I am glad you're going to wait. I watched another reviewer's test of the model you have and he's extremely hard his cars. He had a tire blow out and mentioned the ride height. He ran into a curb head on twice unintentionally and broke a lower shock mount and cracked a wheel. So, when you test I expect to be very good after they correct see flaws. You have a lot of neat projects ahead.
DerbyRC
@@bra1nc417d Derby City RC
You have a valid point.
Appreciate you 🙏🤘
This was an odd release and it keeps getting weirder. Thanks for this video because it got me to also post that people should wait for more concrete V2 info as well. Some people are saying that’s what will soon be available, but I don’t think they would be able to develop it quick enough, unless they’ve been working on it for a while already (but why send these out if that’s the case?) I didn’t hear that they are already working on longer arms and shocks because that’s my biggest suggestion for them. Definitely a few other things as well, including price.
Ma man derby city here!
@@user-es9bb3vl1y🤜💥🤛😃
I would be interested to see the issues it has and how you would test it beyond it's abilities. It sounds like an interesting time investment
And if u did a vid do it fairly raw just like the truck
They baaaddddly need to gear it up on 3S it wouldn’t see where an MT10 had gone
I agree with u, good shout 👍👍
The 14210 I got v1 from a uk seller then the upgraded parts from the official uk seller which v2 the grub screws kept shearing. The hardware screws junk wasn’t a great first Rc purchase tbh got influenced 😂
I don’t think I’ve seen you review the new MJX H8H yet. Unless that’s the same scenario as this one.
Not a review but in reality you have reviewed this V1 and suggested punters wait for V2 ha ha, in a lot of ways the Hypergo 1/14th truggy is still the best low cost basher
600th like.. man..my day just keeps getting better! see you in the next vid!
Two lots of Tomley in one day!!
That's what she said!
We can *never* have too much Tomley
Fair play phil . Mjx should of been clearer on the release . Looking at it and some of the other reviews i think once they sort the few small issues it will be as good and durable as the smaller scale cars . 👍
Respect for this.
The V1 version served primarily as a domestic test model and was not intended for all customers. The V2 version has been adjusted based on feedback from V1. All pre-orders and official sales will receive the improved V2 version.
Poor decision from MJX to send out an unfinished RC Truck to people for a review. Testing should be done before final production/release, not after production. I'm sure the V2 will be good, but your first completed production model shouldn't be a V2 lol
What’s your pick up ? Looks sweet
Thank you for your Opinion!
Traxxas is never gonna beat the HPI WR8 you had Phil
Integrity.! 😉
honestly i saw many reviews and was not convinced of the performance and there so many issues its like a beta test i hope you are right there is a v2 because in my country this is the best bang for a true 1:10 scale. the rlaarlo carbon mini is much much better in my opinion but those guys also have massive QC problems as shown in your review. for a noop like me i need something budget friendly and works out the box.
Seems like these manufacturers don't do enough testing, which its a shame as I think they would sell way more if they worked better out the box
Relax in the States the official release is June 30th !
Without a doubt the arms are to short which limits it period.
I was waiting for this, me being new in rc... i have the 16208 just to see if i do like it. 2 weeks ago i could not wait any longer so i got the arrma outcast 4S. WAUW!!! No more words needed😅.
I still want that 10208 to see what happens if i pump it up to 6S. I like the outcast to much (for now) to hurt it to bad. 80km/ph still feels a bit slow you see... i do want it to go insane fast over dirt/gravel/grass but also to achieve the same 0 to 100. Any good thoughts for me??
The Utah appears to be identical to the Hobby Plus Evo Pro I have the one with Furitek in it. I haven’t seen this version in the US so far. But mine has a bunch of upgrades metal axles Reefs brushless servo metal high clearance links Meus wheels & Injora Tires etc. It’s not in the same class as any of my mini Crawlers the Furry Wagon with Furitek is pretty good but I’d like to see it go up against the expensive Furitek RTR’s
Hi yes you are right phil put cars out but make shower they are fit for peruse
Come on Tomley sharings caring 😁 cheeky git got a traxxas rally too can't wait for the video that's gotta be my must have from traxxas anyway
haha
Willy's Wheeler, awesome mate
Im one of two people who got one in the USA already snapped the rear diff cup off the diff not impressed if it at all wish I at least got the white body
So are going to put the v1 through the paces and give them your feedback to help make v2 better?
No... I'm not on their payroll ;)
@@tomley_rc if they invest more of their own money into r&d they eventually turn into traxxas no? Plus you get views based on the videos you make of other companies products so you kinda get paid by them making a product regardless yea?
Can tell you now that rascal not doing 60+,not well if it ever does
Somehow my question fits to this video, i guess: I'd like to buy a MJX 14302 (Lancia Delta). One offer says, it's the V2. Does anyone know, what has changed and is it better or worse than the "original"? Thanks!
The v2 has the officially licensed stickers. The v1 had hyper go written all over it instead
If I had an RC company, I would take note from Rlaarlo.
And hype your truck for months then stay completely silent for weeks after taking folks money? The all need to take note from Redcat. I saw the Vigilante video, ordered immediately and had my truck a few days later. From not knowing it was gonna exist to driving in 3-4 days.
Tempted by this little thing. How’s it compare to the Rlaarlo OT Carbon?
I don't know... I didn't run it ;)
@@tomley_rc I’ll wait for you’re opinion on it buddy 👌🏻
Sounds like they are desperately trying to claw back anything they can from producing the V1.
Shall await your review of the V2 then 😅
mate ill take it of ya hands if u dont want it lol just broke a drive shaft on my corally dementor
Give it to kev he will make this 12s 10000mph and set it on fire 🔥😅
Well said @TomleyRC. I pretty much ignore any reviews on RC cars or products if I think the 'reviewer' has been supplied the product for free. There are a few exceptions though. You and @KevinTalbotTV being two. I've unfollowed a few RC channels on UA-cam lately. Some I have followed for a couple of years or more since I got back into the hobby. It is plainly obviously when someone is shilling or reading from a predetermined script.
This is why I love Tomley. He just tells you how it is, straight up. It's a refreshing change for a UA-camr.
Ya I’ve seen some reviews on that already glad there’s gonna be a V2 cause I wouldn’t buy the version that’s been revealed already
How come you took this down
I didn't... it's here :)
With issues sorted should be soild little 1/10
Yeah hopefully
Seem strange to do that it could damage there reputation
Oh boy, i wonder if Beyond RC received the same correspondence. He presented this RC to be the king of Amazon specials, the best thing since sliced bread, watching his review video you'd thought he viewed his first girly mag LOL.
Version 1 looked good, some spoke highly, some were moderate
👍
Oh, I forgot. I wanted to mentioned your test of the FCX24 Range Rover. In your test it crawls pretty weir. Other reviewers see it as a trail truck only. The only difference seem to be you used a large battery which would increase rear weight. It didn't make sense to me. I guess you're just a better driver.
Could be habit. If it looks like a crawler or is a “new version” of a crawler, it might get compared to the best one they’ve used and fall short.
@@AlexTheStampede I saw some experienced guys who tried to get it to crawl and were not as successful as Tomley.
I was number 10 to like this video 💯🙉🙈🙊🤷👍👀
SQUASH VAN, Get on with it, please!
And the Mojave grom!
If they want testers, pay them.
**Honda City Hoarder**
He likes lots of Willys.
It looks like a maxx
SHH! DONT TELL TRAXXAS....
Good Call much Respect. Send it to Me plz.
Not been bought out by Losi have they? 😂
Did you pull this down the first time lol
Yes, uploaded my test file in 720p by accident :)
@@TomleyRC good video mate and best way to do it so many companies just pushing shite out on the hype , you need the get some fast boats on the channel aswell lol
I've had a really bad experience with Mjx rcs😢
I've had a decent one, and I've bought a fair few!
I appreciate them asking for constructive criticism though. I hope they do well with the new one.
