saying shy guy on his bio when talking about his weak point was simply just to show he is shy about girls and not being an actual shy guy from the Mario franchise.
I'll never forget Sonic and Tails being in Melee. I always knew it was kinda bullshit but the unlock requirements were so difficult I thought maybe just maybe it could be real lol.
When I was around 9 years old I bought a "Super Mario World 5" GBA cartridge at a basar. It had a high resolution picture of Wing cap Mario on the front and looked super nice. The splash screen had also some really good looking picture of a 3d Mario on it. Then the game started and I loved it. It was damn hard because it wouldn't save but then some faithful day I just pressed a few buttons all at once and I found a mysterious menu in English that I did not at all understand. After some trial and error I found out that I could save with it. Then many years later I found out it was Adventure Island for the NES running in an emulator. I also had the Pokemon sonic bootleg that many people seem to know nowadays.
I love mock ups of portable consoles that use discs because there's always something silly that cracks me up, like at 16:56 those buttons and sticks have no room to breathe, you play mario party Once and that disc's snapping in half
"Despite the box art looking authentic" The so called "red diamond" looks a lot like the Red Chaos Emerald from Sonic X anime. The whole cover feels very clip arty.
Ok, this might be hard to believe, but I actually own a GBA Cartridge with the "Kirby Red Diamond" Label on it, I'm not sure if it's exactly the same as what was listed online, but it's just an emulation of Kirby's Adventure on the NES. Edit: Ok, it's definitely that one.
I'm really glad you chose to cover Waluigi in 64DS over Luigi in 64. As someone born in 2003, hearing people talk about game rumors always felt like I was just hearing everyone else's version of events. I wasn't there for the Luigi in SM64 discussions, but I was all over Waluigi in 64DS. I remember watching so many videos; one claiming that the darker blue shading in the game's logo was a hint, one that said there was a small bit of purple behind mario's head on the box, and my absolute favorite; a tutorial video where the person uses a cheat device to invert Luigi's color.
The Sonic 3 story reminded me of how when I was younger,a kid I knew said he liked Sonic. We talked a lot about it,mostly Mighty injustice and Shadow the Hedgehog. Soon,he asked if I saw Sonic Underground. I told him, 'oh yeah why?' Then he goes 'at Family Video,I rented Sonic Underground the movie. There's a bunch of new characters and they find his mom!'. Considering I eagerly went home only to find video game cutscene movies for Sonic,I knew I was lied to. Not really a hoax but,I hope someone got a laugh from it
It once happened to me, a few years ago, one of my uncles gave me an Angry Birds DVD which I thought was legit, until I put it in and it was just a bunch of trailers for various games of the franchise
With regards to red sonic as a placeholder, that is very likely to have been the case, since in the prototypes we have, the cutscenes are broken badly and so I could imagine them putting something there to make it look nice for the camera
I'll be perfectly honest here, I didn't know what I was expecting when I started to watch this video, but all I can say now is... Well first, +1 like, and second, that was super interesting to watch, it brought me so much memories, like that time, where I was a huge Twilight Princess, and then a video popped up, claiming that a DS version was in developpement, which blew my damn mind xP
Thank you! Funnily enough there exists an official DS cart made by Nintendo that contains the trailer for Twilight Princess, sorta like the GBA video carts. I think it was made for E3. There’s at least some TP on a DS, lol.
@@PatMacYT Yeah, I eventually discovered that the video I watched was just a reupload of that cartridge's footage. But still, it really hyped me up as a kid, as I was playing TP on my Wii, and kept thinking about the release state of this "game"...
I remember the Kirby Red Diamond hoax when it happened. I was 12 back in 2004 and I thought it was real because at the time I didn't know about bootleg games. I was really excited when you talked about it. The last time I saw a hoax that fooled many people was Super Smash Bros. Ultimate's The Grinch Leak last year. There have been many hoaxes related to that game, especially with Waluigi, but this ended up being the one that really fooled people because there was so much done to make it convincing.
"I'm still waiting on that portable Gamecube." I got a screen you can attach to the top of a gamecube, how much you want for it? (Just kidding, it's mine.)
I remember when I was a kid playing melee. my friend and I hear that if you played adventure mode with bowser on japanese voice/menu settings and defeated 100 koopas in the first level of adventure mode and cleared it on very hard, you'd unlock a playable koopa troopa. Back then you could only unlock luigi by going through adventure mode nad having the number "2" at the and of your time as you finish the first level. And Mewtwo being "keep the game on for 24 hours" (Both of those being offical and true) So it wasnt much of a stretch for a Koopa Troopa to be playble.
Holy shit I remember the Waluigi rumors. I was CONVINCED when I was a kid that Waluigi was in Super Mario 64 DS. I remember spending so much time researching how to unlock him. I was so dissapointed to learn he wasnt...
me too!! i have a distinct memory of playing AS waluigi in sm64ds but to my surprise i found out he never existed in the game... same cant be said for luigi in the original n64 release;)
With the Zelda III thing, you’d assume the seller just claim he didn’t own a NES and that’s why he couldn’t prove it. And also, what do you mean an original NES can’t play a prototype? Of course they can, providing the prototype cartridge has the correct components.
Sometimes I take for granted the fact that we can say a fake VR console leak was just "before its time" instead of completely unrealistic. Like, we actually fucking have those VR headsets everybody fantasized about in the early 2000s now. It's crazy.
I remember playing Mario 64 for hours trying to get waluigi because even though we some what had internet we never looked up if the rumor was true instead we spent hours trying to chase a hoax.
I remember hearing rumors about Waluigi being a secret playable character in Mario Kart: Super Circuit on the GBA, which if it was a case, it would make it his first appearance in the MK series, shortly less than a year after his debut in Mario Tennis. Considering that Rosalina appears in Mario Kart Wii, which was released just a couple of months after Super Mario Galaxy, Waluigi in Super Circuit would've been plausible, if not a weird choice for a secret character back in the day.
Late response I know but, I just felt the need to tell you about the splash screens on Kirby: Red Diamond. The first screen uses the title screen from KAO the Kangaroo GBA. The second one uses a level from the best GBA game of all time ICE AGE. That’s all I gotta say. Thank you
I remember being fooled so hard by the Galaxy DS hoax that when Galaxy 2 was announced, I thought that was fake as well, until I learned that no, this one was real.

after all, when making a placeholder for a character, what's the first thing to come to mind?
@@thuongbuianhhedgefishsuppo7550 This is literally the easiest thing to do.
@@PilaCiu of course, that placeholder in this case...(breathes) would be making a palette swap of Sonic.
@@PilaCiu yeah, TOO EASY.
8:15 knuckles is a shy guy
KNUCKLES IS ACTUALLY NINTENDO CONFIRMED
SHY GUYS TRUE IDENTITY FOUND
saying shy guy on his bio when talking about his weak point was simply just to show he is shy about girls and not being an actual shy guy from the Mario franchise.
/wooosh
@@stanleyfan21 WHY MORE WOOOSH>?!?!? I'M SERIOUS!! JUST STOP!!!
I'll never forget Sonic and Tails being in Melee. I always knew it was kinda bullshit but the unlock requirements were so difficult I thought maybe just maybe it could be real lol.
I remember Mario Galaxy DS and being excited for its release until my friend told me it was fake and that was like the biggest bruh moment of my life
Oh Christ
That Mario 64 DS Waluigi one always got me as a youngin
I used to obsess over it YEARS ago.
same with a lot of people.
I also had the Pokemon sonic bootleg that many people seem to know nowadays.
sonic 3 prototype came up in recommended the day it got revealed
Same. Discoveries are nice, aren't they?
Wow
and then it happens with sonic 1.
what a stroke of luck
When they just discovered Luigi in Mario 64s code like 2 days ago.
I love mock ups of portable consoles that use discs because there's always something silly that cracks me up, like at 16:56 those buttons and sticks have no room to breathe, you play mario party Once and that disc's snapping in half
"Luigi in Super Mario 64 was a hoax"
2020: Imma pretend I didn't see that
king crimson
in the court of the crimson king
Hey anything can happen in 2020 😬
5:35 I smell a creepypasta in the making...
Why OVA Sonic?
"Despite the box art looking authentic" The so called "red diamond" looks a lot like the Red Chaos Emerald from Sonic X anime. The whole cover feels very clip arty.
I was so deep into researching waluigi in Mario 64 DS. Great to see it covered!
Well as of recently Luigi really was in Mario 64
Are we gonna ignore the waluigi and rosalina relationship from 14:23
"One of the biggest hoaxes is luigi in mario 64"
Well this aged poorly.
I mean Luigi was always planned and in game development you can't just delete a character model that's why the Luigi model still exists in Mario 64
Not really. He's still not playable in the game.
@@MuchWhittering yea but it isn’t a hoax as it WAS still planned but was scrapped. It does exist in some extent.
@@boyishmistakes pretty sure that's called stretching it
@@Imaloser12345 excuse me?
I had no doubt that "Kirby: Red Diamond" was a fake as they used two different art styles on box art.
I’m gonna be honest
The Mushroom kingdom hearts hoax hurt me and I want it to become a real game because those Mario and Luigi designs are amazing
in the end, hoaxes are just hoaxes and never gets any love from a developer.
And Luigii is now confirmed to be true
3:46 A beach? You mean the first level of Ice Age for the GBA?
he didn't know.
I actually hate the first Ice Age, Ice Age: The Meltdown was way better
OH BOY do I have news for you today regarding Luigi in SM64
Since you're always so calm, hearing you scream "WHAT?" was toooooo funny 😂😂😂
> Luigi in Super Mario 64
Laugh with me, everyone! Laugh! Laugh!
Kirby: Red Diamond sounds like a good rom hack
Edit: so I just realized that whenever I type "rom" it autocorrected it "Ron". oop
Rebound oωo Its a rom hackjob
Ah yes so fun to hack Ron
Yes but who's Ron tho
RONALD WEASLEY
AeronauticsNut970 Formerly MineCRFTFreak970 he fixed it it was a mistake
Pablo sounds incredibly talented, wow
"I'm still waiting on that portable Gamecube."
I got a screen you can attach to the top of a gamecube, how much you want for it? (Just kidding, it's mine.)
GIVE ME IT
The Luigi Rumor is now technically true
the L is actually real
@SHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The DS game, he's playable there. He might also be playable in All Stars? Idk man, my husband would know more
@SHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! dang imagine if they made some feature in Allstars where you could switch to a “Luigi mode”, where you could play as Luigi...
PacMac: too bad, Waluigi time!
Daisy: *sad*
I remember when I was a kid playing melee. my friend and I hear that if you played adventure mode with bowser on japanese voice/menu settings and defeated 100 koopas in the first level of adventure mode and cleared it on very hard, you'd unlock a playable koopa troopa. Back then you could only unlock luigi by going through adventure mode nad having the number "2" at the and of your time as you finish the first level. And Mewtwo being "keep the game on for 24 hours" (Both of those being offical and true) So it wasnt much of a stretch for a Koopa Troopa to be playble.
That moment when n64 leaks reveal Luigi was once in SM64
Holy shit I remember the Waluigi rumors. I was CONVINCED when I was a kid that Waluigi was in Super Mario 64 DS. I remember spending so much time researching how to unlock him. I was so dissapointed to learn he wasnt...
me too!! i have a distinct memory of playing AS waluigi in sm64ds but to my surprise i found out he never existed in the game... same cant be said for luigi in the original n64 release;)
21:07 How dare you dislike this beautiful picture of me and the Toad Brigade
How did the Galaxy DS guy get a fucking B+???????
That man deserves a freaking A.
More like a A++
Biases probably
With the Zelda III thing, you’d assume the seller just claim he didn’t own a NES and that’s why he couldn’t prove it.
And also, what do you mean an original NES can’t play a prototype? Of course they can, providing the prototype cartridge has the correct components.
Mario 64 luigi is no longer a hoax, he's in there
Techincally true, but he was removed from the game for unknown reasons
Him: Luigi in Mario 64 is fake
Me: who is gonna tell em?
Sometimes I take for granted the fact that we can say a fake VR console leak was just "before its time" instead of completely unrealistic.
Like, we actually fucking have those VR headsets everybody fantasized about in the early 2000s now. It's crazy.
alrighttt! just made my Tony's cheese pizza and now it's time for some new PatMac!
People now: Hey, wanna come over and play mariokart on my Switch?
People in an alternate universe: Hey, wanna play Super Mario World on my WII PHONE?
I remember playing Mario 64 for hours trying to get waluigi because even though we some what had internet we never looked up if the rumor was true instead we spent hours trying to chase a hoax.
You waisted your time for nothing at all 😔😔😔
I remember hearing rumors about Waluigi being a secret playable character in Mario Kart: Super Circuit on the GBA, which if it was a case, it would make it his first appearance in the MK series, shortly less than a year after his debut in Mario Tennis.
I found 1 years ago... back in like 2001 there was images for CHAOTIX ADVENTURE. It showed knuckles and the other members of team chaotix... i cannot find it for the life of me now though :(
It looked so genuine. The 3D models in the images looked amazing
I know exactly what you’re talking about!: archive.sonichq.net/fanfair/edited/misc/knucklesadv/knucklesadv.htm
You’re right about it being from 2001, thankfully the site's backed up. Reminds me of the old Sonic in Chaotix hoax from Sonic Cult.
I was OBSESSED with the Waluigi rumor! I was also into this one rumor that said that you could unlock Game Gear games in Sonic Classic Collection by beating each of the Genesis games with all the Chaos Emeralds.
