    Been so busy at work I missed this episode until just now. Good stuff as usual Paul and Sheryl. I am really impressed with your night time shots. My camera really fell short in the low light starlight footage. The nights were so breathtaking and its great that you were able to capture it. Thanks for the memories.

    Thank you for the respectful detailing of the man overboard. Sad to hear and it hilights a real (possible) danger of sailing. I wish more sailing channels would wear life vests as you folks do. That cat sure is a beauty boat. Thanks for sharing.

    5:27 that sky looks beautiful and the sea. the shot is great but sadly it came after the news of a man falling overboard never to be found.
    I watch a lot of videos regarding through hikes, aircraft piloting, and paramotor flying, all with beautiful views such as the ones we can see on your channel. It's a nice break from reality. Wonderful! Thanks so much.

    Second fish is a Wahoo. Bill Cullen here, the cockpit shade guy from Horta. Fantastic video production from Paul. Top notch. And Paul, that drone sure is nice compared to the "GoPro on a stick". The one thing I noticed is that the stove top is not gimbaled, is that right? Is there a way to keep the pots on it is the seas pick up?

    Well, I know you two are probably up in Taranta freezing your butts off at the boat show, however I have to say I loved watching your crossing and the weather with you. Must have been rough out there with no purser, valets or cruise directors about but it looks like you brought the entire kitchen staff from the Love Boat. By God that food looked good.

    Nice video, Paul. Would you have any remarks os issues to point about your first multihull experience? Everyone knows that you are a monohull sailor, but also that you're a technical and detailed observer of any features, good or bad, any boat can show. Tell us about it!! Tks!!

    13:07 I was taught that overhead hatches, portlights, etc., should be closed when underway due to the swamping risk.

    All that boat & no wind to make it perform, what a "snoozer". I coulda transited in my 18 foot monohull under those placid conditions.

    • @DistantShoresTV
      @DistantShoresTV  5 років тому

      You're right it was unfortunate there was so little wind that year. We really wanted to see what a good fast cat was capable of on the Atlantic! Our next crossing was much windier but we missed the opportunity on the cat :-(

    Hi Paul, great video set on another wonderful yacht. One thing I don't remember a comment on is that horrible deck slap most Cat's seem to get under some sea states, how did you find it on this Cat?
    Cheers

    • @DistantShoresTV
      @DistantShoresTV  6 років тому +2

      It had much less slap that the cat we chartered. I think it is always a factor but mitigated by higher clearance and good design. In this case we didn't go upwind enough to test it very well for that :-)

    RE: Man Overboard - We ALWAYS not only have our Mae West on when topside but also ALWAYS have our marine handheld waterproof radio attached to us and fully charged. IF you go overboard you can see and direct your ship to you easily and/or call for help. Our waterproof radios were always in a waterproof bag as well. They have DSC, GPS etc. At night (or if the weather kicked up) we also had fanny packs with pen flares, strobe light, knife, spare radio battery fully charged of course, large strong trash bag and space blanket, line etc... You can sew gear into the Mae West vest jacket and have essential gear there...
