That’s impressive dedication Ben. I’ve taken to exploring even more remote trails here in Norway to avoid people as best possible. Great opportunity to increase distance and bring in some well needed variety in the training. Never thought I’d be watching a bloke hobbling up and down a car park as evening entertainment 😅
Speedy recovery, Ben! Get it done! Priceless video... watching a guy doing his work out in a car park and wearing a half pair of 275 € shoes and eating gels!
7:12 Eyes on the price: seeing 2;19 on the clock. Doing same time 4min 200m reps XD Can't emphasise this enough, but you are the most positive and inspirational runner/UA-camr I have faced. +Sarah too, she is amazing!
You're doing so great Ben , hope your recovery continues to go well. I'm still out running solo but thats nothing new , I only run with people at parkrun . Just giving people a wider berth than normal. Good luck and stay safe🏃♂️
Glad to hear you are recovering well Ben! Love your videos. At the moment I am trying to run at least 10km a day at easy pace to build up a good base while we are in quarantine and only allowed out once a day! Hopefully when parkruns re-open I will be able to smash my PB (currently 19:51). Keep up the videos and I look forward to your next one! Also, thanks for being such an inspiration!
Good on you Ben, getting it Done! Non stop raining here for a few days here in New Zealand so I’ve been trying some treadmill work outs, normally can’t stand treadmill training, manage to tape my iPad to the treadmill, it’s an old treadmill I bought for $50 5 years ago has come in very handy so with some music & a you tube running video is a huge help, did 3 hours on the treadmill haha yepppy!
Well done on the rehab Ben 👍. I did Joe Wicks PE at 9am and then a 2.5 mile run wearing my..... new Ben Parkes cap that my kids gave me for Mother’s Day! LOVE it!
So pleased to see you up and about again, Ben! Those small wins when recovering from injury are what kept me going on my way back - hope your speedy recovery continues.
Nice Ben! Great to see your recovery going well. Scaled back my running but still getting out for short frequent runs to keep the fitness up. Look forward to the next vid!
Ben as someone with the same plate and screws in my fibula; MAKE SURE YOU TRY TO RECOVER FULL RANGE OF MOTION before just slamming the mileage on it I know it'll "feel ok" going in a straight line but absolutely do NOT neglect agility and range of motion in your rehab. my plated ankle never recovered full R.O. M because i jumped right back into football season full blast
Yes.. I am working on the range of motion a lot.. constantly comparing my two feet! It’s coming back.. as it gets stronger I’ll start building up more strength in it. Appreciate the note, thank you!
Thank you Ben, This is really inspirational even when you have a mountain to overcome you attack it positively and are not just sitting on the sofa feeling sorry for yourself.
Good to see you moving again. I'm pretty much a solo runner so not effected here in Ireland but group running is pretty much a no no. Tough for people who run in groups to keep motivated I would guess and hopefully your motivation rubs off on them to keep them going.
Well done Ben - you enjoyed that 😃. I live fairly rural in Cambs, but hastily purchased a treadmill as an option. I was amazed at how most websites were selling out of gym equipment particularly treadmills. Stay safe..👍
Good effort Ben.. very dedicated doing another session with the Russian twists. I did a run in WINDSOR Great Park and luckily they haven’t closed it off yet. Very warm today and found it hard going, must be at least 10 degrees higher. But pleased to have got it done. 👍
Great effort mate and nice to see you positive. I ran my first ever 10 miles on Sunday but went to do my 10k yesterday but had to stop after half a mile, was struggling to breath and coughing, given what’s happening playing it safe but feels like a huge disappointment. Thank you for the videos, enjoyed watching them as I’ve began to love running ✌🏻
I'm glad your recovery is going well. Most things are closed down here in Hawaii, including public parks, but I am still allowed to go for runs fortunately. It makes the rest of the time cooped up more bearable.
Well done, Ben! Just finished a 6 miler in Normandy (all within 1 km of our house, as the latest rules require). Does as much for mental health as physical health, honestly. We all need to adapt to the situation to keep each other safe, so thanks for showing us how you're getting on :)
Those get well cards are so sweet must have really made your day to get those. Really good to see you getting the workout in. Just done some Russian twists thanks to Joe Wicks kids PE video! Wishing you the very best with the recovery Ben!!!
9am PE with JW and the kids. Running every day. Now avoiding Victoria Park due to crowds. Luckily have a concept 2 rower at home waiting in case of full lock down.
Well done Ben, awesome to see you moving again, I remember when I broke my leg, just feeling that first sweat from exercising and being able to take a proper shower were huge wins, hope the recovery continues to go well! Cheers from Canada, Scott
Hello. I have just Subscribed to your channel and I really like all the advice you have on offer. Good luck with the rehabilitation. Look forward to your future videos
Good luck, we running in our yard in South Africa. A total lockdown and running, jogging, taking out your dog is not permitted. Running the driveway, and advantage bit steep! I guess no races will take place this year. Stay safe as the virus continue to spread all over the world.
Hi. Videos have been so inspirational. I broke my ankle 5 weeks ago hiking the Camino Portuguese in Portugal. Just curious your thoughts on shoes when coming back to hiking or running. When I injured my foot, I was hiking in the Hoka Speedgoat 4. I really love the hokas but wondering if the high stack height on the cushion somehow contributed to the ankle injury. Would love your thoughts.
Work, more work and a whole lot of bodyweight workouts in the evening (pull-ups, muscle-ups etc). Going to the pool to work on the ankle for mobility and a little strength would definitely speed up that rehabilitation process once the coronavirus season is over. Aquatic work does wonders to the joints :) In the meantime, stay positive and keep #gettingitdone !
Wow man. Impressive. Normal running for me fortunately, even amidst the COVID chaos. I’m in a rural town in California so roads and trails are pretty empty per usual. Keep up the good work!
We can still go outside to run, but all the public parks are closed, so people can’t gather in just one place, i can run on the road. I ran a PB on March 8 half marathon, everything after that started to get cancelled, since i ran in 1:30:58 i did take 2 weeks kind of off, but i have been running at least 2 or 3 times a week, until all this pandemic calm down. . Take your time Ben, it’s better that you heel your ankle properly, than rush it and don’t heel like you shloud.
Well done mate, your positivity is infectious as per. Quick question - I’m loving the rice cooker you recommended some time ago so what blender do you use? Thinking of getting one to eat more fruit but there are so many to choose from! 🤷🏻♂️
Good work Ben! Just wondering why you didn't go outside and get some sunshine and vitamin D?! I had a good 17km run today in the woods and fields I live in probably the most rural part of UK. I stopped swimming last week due to the leisure centre being closed. So went from running to swimming and now back to running again. Business as usual for me, I love running outside and it's much more fun than on a treadmill, get to explore the different trails and find new routes all the time. Roads seem quieter too, noticed the birds singing more than usual! Get well soon!
Did I miss the explanation of how you broke your ankle? It was tough seeing the anguish your were in but great to see you back to your happy self. You’ll be back before you no it and making even more great content.
Your other leg looks bigger Ben when you was doing abs the calf’s when you back and everythinks good are the legs going to be exact the same again curious stupid question but that’s what I’m thinking keep up the good work your be back flying again ben 💪🏼💪🏼💪🏼💪🏼
We (New Zealand) go into full lockdown in a few hours. Outdoor exercise from home is allowed, but I'm unsure how my running will go. I dont expect to get too far down the road without being stopped, and possibly asked where I have come from, how long I will be out, and where i am going.
It is a little scary.. but so long as everyone is sensible there's no reason why all running can't carry on as normal. In the UK we can run once per day at the moment, well I can't.. but everyone else can!! At the moment there's no enforcement here.. 99% of people seems to stick to the rules, so hope that stays the same and we can also get some progress on getting the virus sorted! All the best Jonathan, hope your running carry on as normal!
@benparks you remind me of me so much. I would be doing to same if I had surgery. No way I could sit around feeling sorry for myself. I'm new subscriber currently training for mountain 50k races and love the channel. Keep going!
Here in Italy we have a stricter lockdown every week. Now we technically can go outside to do some running only very close to our houses (200-500 m) and of course keeping distance from others. I do some short easy runs following the rules, but I find discouraging the hate and rage from people from the windows and on the streets insulting you and yelling at you because you don't stay at home...lot of hate and rage going on...everybody is mad after 3 weeks of lockdown....and runners are a target of this hate. So I may quit even if I am actually following the rules
@@petercoates9354 Thank you for your kind words. I'll still try for a while, but it is difficult to cope with all this hate....hope this ends sooner rather than later, this situation is bringing out the worst side of people, and I don't know the actual situation in the rest of the world, but at the moment here it seems to live science fiction apocalyptic movie. New Zealand goes into lockdown today. I hope i can still go running, just been cycling for a few days, but plan a run tomorrow. i live near the beach and normally run to there and around for an hour or so... hope i can. Made the difficult decision at the weekend to take a hiatus from running during the current health crisis. Due to the nice weather there were a lot of people out and didn't seem worth taking the risk of running through whatever they're expelling!
