- Mayor Lewis might just be the most hated character in all of Stardew Valley, so it's no surprise that there is now a Stardew Valley Speedrun to his down fall. And I am now the world record holder of that run.

i don’t think anyone cares about lewis and marnie. it’s a small town and all he does is organize events and help you move in. just openly date your girlfriend instead of treating her like garbage

Lewis reminded me of Hitler who wouldn't openly date Eva Braun because "ladies love a leader who's a bachelor" according to Hitler. I think is why I dislike Lewis 😆

He says "I can't tell people because it'll get in the way of the work" but even normally, his work is so bad, half the things in the Town like the community center isn't usable, the ONLY bus had to be fixed by some magical species and is driven by a drunkard who isn't even given a decent house for her services.. and there's trash literally everywhere

He's never doing anything meanwhile I'm running around like a bloody(sometimes literally sometimes figurtively) lunitic trying to build my farm up and befriend everyone either because I like them or because I want the things they may send me. Meanwhile he's just there standing outside Pierres shop. So yes Lewis. I am busy but I would damn well like to hear how the hell you got the position.
Lewis is definitely the type to say he doesn't want to label their relationship just so he can say he's single to other women

My first time doing this I really had no idea a red cap mushroom was BAD for Humans and I tossed on in the stew and the event was Canceled

i married emily in my save. not because i like emily; i hate clint. emily's cool of course but def not my first marriage candidate. idk, i just really hate clint and have no real reason to... but pierre? oh my god.
pierre once sold jodi a holly in my save, knowing she was going to cook with it. Holly berries are incredibly poisonous, and holly leaves can cause symptoms like diarrhea and vomiting. she talked about how delicious it was. I felt so bad. fuck pierre.

I don’t know why, but I just can’t hate Pierre. I know all of his flaws, but I can’t hate him. I think it’s because I see him for what CA wanted to write him as, instead of what he ended up as. A cheeky store owner who just wants to make it by. If SV gets an update that works on the relationship system and characters I want Pierre to have a character arc.

@@LuciusLucius Highly depends on how you estimate things. But the farmer can be anywhere from teenager to 40+. And Marnie is likely anywhere between 26 to mid 50's. (And Lewis is probably at least 50+)
My personal interpretation has always been that the farmer is in his 20's (since he is sick of JoJa office work after a few years working there) and Marnie is in her 30's (younger sister of Shanes mom (so possibly anywhere from 1 to 10+ years younger), with Shane being in a similar age range to the farmer since he got Jasmine when he was young).
That age gap would be uncommon, but could work in my opinion.

@This Is Neftis! He's basically a Nice Guy that you see on the internet. Tbf he just seems like he's shy, but from some of his dialogue you can see he thinks highly of Emily simply because she's nice to him, to the point where he wants to be with her and doesn't understand that she's being nice for the sake of being nice, and not because she wants to date him

Also I think it's partly the large age discrepancy between Clint and Emily and the fact that his crush on Emily is essentially his entire personality.

we just put it behind pierre's counter since he doesnt walk the full length anyway >_< 98% of the town will see it on the way to church, exercise, or buying groceries
Clint doesn't get half the hate he deserves, if you marry Emily he'll still try to flirt with her, he says really weird things if you have a girl character and invites him to the movies,
He gets mad and stops talking to Emily if you date her, I really don't like him
Not to mention when he isn't being gross he's constantly whining about how much he hates his job and the town. I personally consider him the worst character just because of how uncomfortable he makes me.

I agree with most of this, except the not talking to Emily part. If someone I had a huge crush on got married, I'd definitely stop talking to them. It's admittedly very difficult to compartmentalize your feelings for someone just because they're committed to someone else. That feeling will always be there in the back of your mind, no matter how much you try to bury it.
Imo, it's better to move on. And despite what some people may try to claim, you can't just decide to stop liking someone. No, you just move on. It's better for everyone involved.

Not gonna lie, I got the shorts by walking into the room while Jas was in there for some reason. She walked in and left the door open, so I came in behind her and grabbed the shorts before the door could be closed again.
Still means you had the hearts to open it since even with the door visually open the game won't let you enter without being good enough friends. Unless that was a bug maybe.

@@jerimywilliamson9673the game SHOULD still stop you but multiplayer is a mess so I wouldn’t be surprised if that’s why it worked. That or you didn’t notice you had at least 2 hearts with Marnie, which will allow you to enter her room.
Can't you water and put the rain retention fertilizer when you hoed the soil earlier in the day while waiting for Pierre's to open? You would use some more energy doing that and wouldn't have to waste in game and irl time by using the fertilizer and watering after going to Pierre's. If someone takes the place from you, you could try that
It's only a relatively low percentage that the fertilizer will actually retain the water, since I'm pretty sure it's basic that he's using.
@@VaryaEQ It's quality! If you pause at 19:18, you can see that it says quality retaining soil. So according to the wiki, there's a 66% chance it retains water.

I always found it funny people hate Lewis, Clint, and Pierre with a passion. Like, I didn't care for them, but I didn't mind them. I just kina rolled my eyes at Pierre,was a little annoyed by Clint, and Lewis?
I actually like Lewis. Sue me. Yeah, don't care for how he treats Marnie, but beyond that, all his crimes are just speculation. I personally like to think he and grandpa in their youngers days ventured into the mines a bunch and found tons of gold, and he comissioned that statue of him from the leftover stuff. As for Marnie? I think it'd be cute if she got with Marlon.
I also like George. He's great when you get his hearts up. He turns off the tv and asks what young people like to do, and he pays full attention to you.

There is a new speedrun doing this. The item id for a ladder is the same for his shorts. So if you put a ladder in the pants/shorts slot it makes his shorts
Lewis is NOT the most hated, I think Clint is. He's a creepy stalker who is pining for a young woman, (about 20 yrs old) and he's about 30-40. He continues going after her after you marry her. And he overcharges for ore so much. (Not that anyone buys it anyway)
I don't think Emily is around 20, I think she's more in her late 20s/early or mid 30s

you could’ve just taken a chair and put it in marnie’s doorway when she opens it & jump in the chair and then out into her room so you wouldn’t need the two hearts or any of the gifts that create friendship. not sure if that’s against the rules or smth, but it would save time by not having to deal with amaranth or anything :)
A bit late replying to this, but as far as I can tell this is a glitchless run, so that wouldn't fly. It is a good idea if there's a category for this run that allows glitches though!

Unpopular opinion of a person on their first playthrough: I don't think pierre is that bad, i think he's just a lil too focused on getting out of the hood. Didn't he grow up poor? And now with his little business that he built his life on being threatened by a megacorp like joja, wouldn't your morals get just a little weaker as you try to survive? Although abigail seems kind of troubled and his wife is always tripping out on tea so we shall see idfk, I'm on my first winter still
You can get into an MPC‘s bedroom without being friends with them if they are doors open after them entering or exiting the room then you put a chair inside of the room and exit the chair into their room.
It’s a glitchless run- but also not? Idk, the rules are weird. But I think if that was possible in the rules then they wouldn’t all take 20 minutes like he did without the chair glitch. It’d same SOME time I think.

just a thought, but would getting mining to level 2 to craft the staircase be any good or would that be way too slow? cause that way you skip having to wait around for piers and marnie since equipping the staircase in the pants slot gives you the lucky purple shorts.

Seanie, what do you use for screen recording/video editing? There are so many options and I’m having a hard time finding quality ones
Most people use obs for screen recording. A lot of people use Adobe Premiere and Davinci Resolve. I personally use obs ans davinci resolve. They're both free and are professional

Dose the cutscen trigger with the trimmed lukey perple shorts as well because than you can get the recipe for ster cases and put them in your pants slot to get the trimmed lucky purple shorts and get this done in year 1
Staircase pants are against the rules for the run or else it would be an under 10 minute run if we go by Seanie's 6ish minute run where he went for fastest pants acquisition.
Theoretically the run could be faster by triggering Kent's cutscene on spring 1 and go back to sleep so then you don't waste anytime

I'm new to stardew valley and I don't get why people seem to hate lewis so much, I'm almost finishing my first year and Lewis seems like a fine guy to me
From what I've gathered (I've never played the game): he's an awful boyfriend to marnie (they're dating but he "wants to keep it secret"..yea not good, dude should treat her better, and he's potentially cheating on her), doesn't do anything for the town as mayor, (you literally do everything and fix up the town), embezzlement

So, I was just playing Stardew, and it came time to the Winter Star festival, and my secret gift target was Mayor Lewis. So, partially inspired by this, the day before I went down and got Lewis' shorts from the new secret area in 1.6, so I could give it as his secret gift. But sadly, it was greyed out. I was so disappointed.

You know something I just discovered is Mayor Lewis calls you you can tell him you know his secret before he quickly hangs up.

Use your synthetic during the eating period yo try and get in the loading zone so the frame you start walking you enter the luau
Fun fact, if you craft a staircase and put in the inventory space for pants it will turn into Lewis underwear

I'll die on this hill, Marnie and Lewis are a good couple. Sure the dynamic isn't great right NOW, but it's definitely fixable and it wouldn't be out-of-character, and also Marnie is clearly in love with Lewis. He makes her happy, even if he also makes her disappointed sometimes. I would rather they work it out than she start dating Marlon or someone else.
With a new update (idk If it was around when this was posted) but you can use a stair case in his house and reach his basement and get the shorts that way now

dude i hate mayor lewis not because of it being supposedly scandalous for him to date marnie, but because he doesent own upto it and treats her like absolute garbage
Clint has Major incel energy and isnt man enough to ask emily out, but he closes early so my geodes never get processed in the early game

Then to top it all off.... Robin and Demetrius are my favorite xD theyre enviormentally concious people that provide alot of good to the community, and alot of stability to their Kids
