    I don’t know why, I’m not small or very young, but I think that a small guitar like this is very good. And perfect for travel!

    I’m a bassist, but I have one of these to mess around on. Gotta say though, going from a 5-6 string bass with jumbo frets to this little thing definitely takes some adjusting to lol. Sometimes it’s fun to write on this then translate it to bass and see what sound I like better and vice versa

    The Yamaha CGS103A is 3/4 size, and the Yamaha CGS102A is 1/2 size. If this is a 102A it is a half size, not a 3/4.

    Interestingly, on the multi-fingered strum, I've always led with my index and ended with my pinky. I assume it's just preference. Thanks for the review. I am considering this for my son and will probably steal it now and then.

      Oh cool! Yes these are decent little guitars. I was taught that strum idea from a guy who is a fantastic classical player.

  • @idraote
    @idraote 3 роки тому +1

    I've heard several people say that 1/2 have bad intonation. I wonder why, especially considering that 1/4 and 3/4 don't have that bad reputation.

    • @brookhoover1384
      @brookhoover1384  3 роки тому +1

      1/4 is not good for intonation in my experience. Also 1/2 is not so great. 3/4 I do not have much exposure to.

      I have an ancient (late 50's early 60's) half size guitar with a loose adjustable bridge. So I adjust the bridge at about the same angle as the bridges ons some modern steel string accoutic guitars. Otherwise it would be impossible to tune

      @brookhoover1384  2 роки тому +1

      The Spanish song? Yes I can make one. I only know the main riff. It seems every version I've heard is vastly different! I'll make one soon. Thank you for asking.

      @@brookhoover1384 yes it is ok as for newbies to master a full song would be hard yet it can be inspiring to try at least 1-2 phrases. E.g. even when choosing a new guitar one can estimate the sound of that style.
      Re tag - I meant even to tag both the style and the title of the song. Perhaps youtune can recognize anyways but it would not hurt and can show the video to people who are looking for that type of melodies (some YT rags raise the rank of the video putting it to the 1-2 page -higher).

    I wonder if it'll sound good in a wide space? Specifically in a Church choir setting? My mother wants one to learn to play for church but I don't know to get her a half size or a regular size

    • @brookhoover1384
      @brookhoover1384  Рік тому

      It would sound pretty good. You can put a mic on it or install a pickup. Nylon string guitars are good for beginners because the strings are softer. If she is petite a 3/4 size is nice to have, also because they are comfortable to play, she could keep it and get a larger guitar later. Most people end up with more than one guitar. Good luck with learning!

      For now mine is tuned in F with Savarez Alliance Cantiga Premium strings. Great strings, and beautiful little sound! For a all laminate travel guitar that I found for only 63€, I am very impressed! I changed the head nut, 37mm between the E strings is for Kids. With a 48mm neck, you can have 40mm, no problem.
