Every day I have a student cussing the F chord. I feel your frustration and want you to know you are not the only one. If we understand the notes we need to play and can play them individually and hear what each note sounds like, combining them might make more sense. We can experiment with forming parts of the F chord and strumming slowly and listening carefully. I call it disassembling the cho...

I just subscribed. l went on a bass video you posted and got to this video. You are very good. I was in a surf band around 2000. the VonRippers. I haven't played or even listened to the genre for quite a while. After seeing this great content I am going to revisit Straitjackets, Man or Astroman, Laika, Mermen, etc etc. Probably the stuff I was on also. Thank you for the renewed appreciation and love of this music.
Hi there Roger! Do you guys have any tunes online? So good to hear from you! I would like to hear your stuff.
@@brookhoover1384 I think we made 4 CDs. Not much on line tho that I know of. One set we did on cable access and a couple of songs we did for a compilation cd. I played bass on these. ua-cam.com/video/WrPfyGmAfRU/v-deo.html ua-cam.com/video/WrPfyGmAfRU/v-deo.html
i just bought this guitar is my first one for 89 dollars i’m pretty excited
Hey good job! Are you new to playing?
Is the super viking the guitar Elvis played in the 68 come back special?
It is actually the very guitar used on that show! OK just kidding. The one he used looked like an import of some sort. Very good question to discuss though. Was it really a Hagstrom?
Nice one. Hobby bass player here. Not sure that it helped me mind you other than to support the idea that I play the line adequately. It's possible to find the pocket without copying Wyman's weird groove exactly; at least that's what I'll tell myself the next time I'm playing it. I wonder how The Munch played it when he took BW's place in the band.
Yes it is very bizarre to me! How can he keep changing the part every measure? Is Wyman a genius or what is his deal? I think it is mysterious.
@@brookhoover1384 i would NOT go with genius... although keeping your job with a legendary rock band while staying in the background, and then quitting on your terms is pretty genius-like It's a pretty cool line though. After I watched your vid I looked for some tutorials/covers/isolated sound bits, so maybe I'll do it better next time. The singer is sick of singing it, but it gets the ladies on the dance floor...
I think it's pretty darn cool. How long have you played it? I bought the single when it was new and tried to learn it then.
@@brookhoover1384 Just a few years I guess, since I started with this trio... I don't remember what album it was on, I had Some Girls and Sucking in the 70s... never a huge Stones fan but bass players don't choose the music usually so I've learned a ton of their songs. If I don't like the band I can always choose between 10 others lol. Last night we played Honkey Tonk Woman at practice, which I have played past the point of loathing now, but am fine to break it out live. I did have the thought that I'm done if they make me play that every practice. Your band name is great BTW
WOW! Ya I have played in some full time touring bands with songs I did not really like. Some songs I hated! But I tried to not complain. I've gotten to a point where I can just tune it out. THANKS!
I learned some more when you demonstrated your partner’s B7 form. I knew your “Cowboy” version as well as the position farther up the next next to the C Chord. Thanks!
Well good! I am so glad we helped someone . Really nice to hear from you.
Wyman's bass lines have always struck me as being very loose and, who knows, just cobbled together. Unlike someone like McCartney that were more natural and an intricate part of the song.
Right, I just don't know! Big fan of the tunes but what that guy was doing I have no clue!
Just did a fix up/perfect set up to a 2003 affinity, I have modded and repaired a buch of strats, this is a weirdly awesome guitar, it may be the BEST strat I ever played! Zero mods to this gem, I don't care what kind of pickups, wiring, pots, switches it has, I am changing nothing but strings on this guitar, ever!
I know! It kind of blows me away how good some of the little imports are.
I thought that was a B# minor 7.
WHOA! Checkmate. I got nothin!
That’s a cool fender Mustang. Thanks for the video.😊
Hi there! This happens to be a Jaguar but very close to a Mustang.
Looks great!
sounds good.
Excellent! Looks like something to play when picking up the guitar and warming up ...... or when ever ya feel like playing something in rhythm .... .......... and make a game of it. Check out a song, Cissy Strut by the Meters. Its got a great riff with an attitude. Ya might even do a couple lessons of a song of that style.
THANK YOU! I have played a little bit of Cissy Strut but it's been a while. Let me see if I can whip it together, glad to hear the suggestion.
I've got an attempt loading and also have the transcription so I will probably do a follow up with a little more accuracy.
Perfect meat and potatoes axe for rock.
I played that one a few times. I dug it.
Nice video! I would love to see some more bass-stuff from you.
Hey Brook, gotta pickup question for you. I gotta new used guitar recently…a relatively cheap one…and the humbuckers it came with sound super muddy, even with the tone all the way up. Are muddy pickups generally just that, or can other electronic cause this? If it’s just cheap pickups, I can have them replaced. Thanks for any advice!
HOWDY! It could be the value of the pots or a tone capacitor. Just a guess. Or maybe it's wired wrong. Do you have any electronics/music/amp repair gurus in your are? Humbuckers can be pretty bright. Are you comparing it to a strat or tele? It should not be that dark. What model of guitar is it?
@@brookhoover1384 Yeah, gonna bring it to my local music store. It's a 2005 "Jagstang." Compared to other humbuckers or even my single coil strat, it's super dull and muddy.
Wow! I bet there are some really cheap mods a knowledgable tech could perform.
what notes make the E dim ? if I asked that right
In this example I was using E Augmented, so that would be E (root), G# (3rd) and C (#5). So for augmented chords it's Major. 1,3 and #5. We augment or raise a note in the chord. In Diminished chords we are flatting a few things. E (root) G (b3) A# (b5) and C# (bb7)
@brookhoover1384 thank you teacher I am curious person.. Rock on Brook
It makes me so happy to know the answer to a few things. Some times people correct me and that is ok too. I'm really glad you asked!
That was a really fun pattern, and the looks like the Excelsior got some action? Thanks for sharing. 🤘
The Excelsior is a pretty bright amp but that is actually good for a live band mix. A darker amp sounds good in a room with just the guitar. Excelsior is an oddity but super cool! Thanks for checking out that pattern!
Very reasonable turnaround... 😆I appreciate that! Thank you!
Cool
Thanks for explaining, I have your book.
"This dusty ole dust is my home" - W.G
Sounds weirdo . . . no bass . . no treble . . .
I believe you. Blame it on the camera or some other excuse. Yes these are kind of thin.
I always wondered what happened to this series of amps, I believe there were a couple others made like it. I think the Excelsior was part of the Pawn Shop Series, I remember playing one at Guitar Center about ten or more years ago when they were new. They didn't seem to be available for too long.
Practicing everyday eventually doesn’t seem like practice. It becomes incredibly fun because you get better. Practice Rocks, literally.
What's up man. I'm moseing (I think that's a werd), around music related channels on utoob and checking in. Always enjoy your instructional videos and your live shows with Surf Zombies band and The Drive Ins band.I still have that book👍 Keep being you and teaching the goodness man.♥️🎵🎸
Thanks!
Can you throw a turnaround in the next one? The one at the bottom of page 12? Does that sound reasonable? 😜Thanks Brook!
"Reasonable" is the word for 2025. Let's dew it.
It's coming!
I've still got my GX-15 (non-R edition - no reverb) - it's going to my niece as her first amp, long live Crate! Hell it's made in America and still working since '93, can't beat that. They're going for more on Reverb now than what I paid for it years ago.
Wow cool! I really like these little amps. Good for your niece! Does she like to play?
@@brookhoover1384 This will be her first guitar and amp so hoping she enjoys it. We'll find out! She randomly asked for one this week and I was like too bad I just gave away my partscaster for Christmas, at least she gets the amp :D
Super lead !
It is! Thanks Ben!
Here’s to reasonable days !
While we're on the topic of your books: from your second book, page 38. Are those the various "CAGED" shapes for Am? 🤔
John Lenon uses the C chord in Imagine for a neat riff!
Hermosa guitarra, yo tengo una guitarra Arbor de la serie STILETTO, estas guitarras tienen un hermoso sonido, tengo 2 videos donde aparezco tocando mis composiciones en esa guitarra en esta cuenta de youtube
Hola, voy a buscar tu canal, suscribirme y escucharlo. ¡Gracias!
Cool guitar, I never knew they made these. Good playing also.
Thanks for checking it out! Appreciate the positivity?
I dig it that there are other diy musicians out there. Recording your own music is bad ass. It’s not for the timid, you really got to work at it. Rock on!!
Bless you.
Really cool. I’ve got tons of original songs on my channel. You should check out Cellophane Girl. It’s a simple song with a triad overdub on the verse chords. Those triads really are like magic. They add sooo much depth. Hopefully you can check it out. It’s got an awesome solo, very short and simple in E minor. Rock On!!
OK I will have a look. Thanks for finding me.
What size is the allen wrench that you used ? Thanks
Pretty sure those are 5 mm. Most likely I went to ebay and bought the cheapest one I could find. Seems to have saved me a lot of struggle.
cool tips man, great channel I enjoy watching from uk
That makes me so happy! What is going on over there? We have snow today. Cold! I enjoy a little bit of that.
@@brookhoover1384 Ha ha, yeah cold here too, expecting snow this weekend but it wont be like you guys have,
That's really cool..thank you..new voicings for chords.
I always loved to mess around with those chords and modify them a little. What a great song!
Sounds lovely Brook. Great work !
Thanks Ben, I think it's a good one
Hhhmmm, i can hear the strings sounding acoustically additional to the electric sound, the adjusted Amp-sound is terrible, so unfortunately that doesn't allow any real conclusions to be drawn about the fullness of sound of this guitar! So this video is unfortunately worthless for anyone interested in this guitar!
That's a problem I face from time to time. The guitar played really well and the pickups sound good. Sorry it was a bummer for you.
Good lesson! Sometimes I forget to study the circle of fifhts in fourths! Or just in a scale. Power chords is a cool way to do that, thanks! Another thing you could do is barre chords and 5th interval chords up the neck. So you only move the ring finger for the first three. And then it feels more like playing a pentatonic because when you change position to the next barre shape you move up a step and a half instead of like moving only a major 2nd.. just because that's how I'm used to thinking of the neck in the middle frets.
Great content, as always! Could you help me with something unrelated: My OKX wallet holds some USDT, and I have the seed phrase. (alarm fetch churn bridge exercise tape speak race clerk couch crater letter). Could you explain how to move them to Binance?
@brookhoover1384 Happy new year my friend! What a great start to your channel. You posting videos of new amps! How cool! Exciting fun stuff. Super excited and stoked to watch the Marshall JCM800 video that comes out tomorrow. I set a reminder so I will be notified when that video is uploaded on your channel. Keep rockin' and keep practicing!
Is that an older amp or a new one ? Like when we’re they made ? I’ve never seen one before
Hi Ben, Happy New Year friend!. These are from a few years back. It's way cool! Very simple to operate. No monkey business. 13 watts.
I dig it !
I like a plain old Fender amp for the foundation. Add a couple of pedals and we're done!
Cool amp Brook ! Happy New Year !
Thanks Ben! Hope you have a good 2025. I'm not so sure about what we have coming up down here in the states. Do you have any spare rooms?
@ lol. Ya I hear ya. God knows eh. Trust me Brook , we’re in just as bad shape up maybe even worse. One day at a time I suppose. I believe in the power of prayer so I’ve been praying hard. God bless.
Now that I’ve got the books, I’m looking forward to more of these videos brook thanks mate😎🎸👍
