  • Tyseley Steam Trust's GWR 4073 'Castle' Class no. 7029 'Clun Castle', at the helm of her first public passenger carrying excursion (following the successful Shareholder & VIP trains months earlier) since returning to traffic, at the head of Vintage Trains' 'The Cotswold Explorer', running from Dorridge to Oxford and return, on April 6th 2019.
With the 'Down' leg firstly running via the Golden Valley & Swindon, Driver Ray Churchill would 'open up' the 4-6-0 away from a gauging restriction through Appleford station and toward Culham, 30 minutes ahead of schedule, having skipped a pathing stop at Didcot West Jn, with the town's Power Station providing a substantially epic background - I had been planning for a panning shot in the field below, but with the stop at Didcot dumped, time to access the field was tight upon arrival.
Following a close up & personal look at the 'Castle' during her layover in Oxford Down Sidings, just north of the city's station, 'Clun' is subsequently captured strecthing her legs working the 'Up' journey, on the Single Line section between Wolvercote Jn (Oxford) and Charlbury, working her way passed Worton toward Hanborough and Evesham.
All shots filmed in 4K on a pair of Panasonic VX870 and VX980 camcorders, with a pair of Takstar SGC-598 Microphones.
