With a healthy diet your body is just more likely to fully express the immune systems potential and it is less affected by cancerogenes. But nonetheless you can still get cancer and it can not cure your cancer. It just lowers the risk.

This video doesn't mention that the initial change in the cell is that the mitochondria, which turns sugar into energy inside the cell, is damaged, and the cell must then revert to more primitive metabolic pathways; ones which uses a process of fermentation rather than oxygen, as with the mitochondria.
Given what he says in this video about cells only replicating when they need to, this makes me wonder if, by reverting to a more primitive metabolic pathway, this cell is effectively no longer a part of the body and is acting like its own organism. It sends out chemical signals to receive blood vessels and divides of its own accord because the cell has become governed by a kind of survival instinct which is separate from that of the body, so inside your body there is effectively a more primitive life form growing which predates the mitochondria within the cell.
Can anyone confirm if this is correct?

Thanks Dr. Komaroff, quite interesting. I have a question. My wife, just had her 2nd mastectomy and also had an 8mm cancer in one of her lymph nodes. As a result, she will be starting chemo in the next couple of week. Many people are telling her or sending her information about going on a high alkaline diet, as they say cancer can not live in an high alkaline environment. However, I've done quite a bit of research and learned that no matter what one eats, the body still maintains a pH level in the blood stream between 7.35 and 7.45. I believe that while a high alkaline diet is good for you (the foods in this group are better for you in general), it will not cure cancer or might not prevent it. I think that someone has created a multi-billion dollar industry capitalizing on fear. Do you have an opinion on this?
