- If you change you Taiwanese ID to the new number you have to change your Insurace number too.
Did you know you also need to change your driving license as well if you want to use the scooter rental apps?
From what I’ve heard, you need to update EVERYTHING with your new number. All bank accounts. Insurance policies, membership cards to everything. They all refer to your ID # and once you change that, every contract you have in Taiwan needs to be updated along with it.
I’m waiting for my once-every-ten-years passport to expire. Once that is reissued then I’ll be forced to update everything once i register it with the authorities here. (I hold an APRC).
It's very tedious to say the least. They don't help foreigners much here do they!
It's all very silly. This is the reason why I didn't change mine. It should be automatic and just changed across the board. But, sadly one department doesn't know what the other department is doing. They would FUP a piss up in a brewery.
When you think Taiwan do so well with technology all over the world they fail miserably at home. Bit like a plumbers home has leaks and a garderners lawn is overgrown.
