I love rose fragrances and I think it's working with so many things ... I love boozy rose, oud and rose, rose and jasmine, rose and leather... My favourite one is Rose kabuki from Dior. I love this pure rose fragrance. It is so beautiful in its simplicity. I also really love Rosa Nobile from Acqua di Parma, Evening rose from Aerin, Rose Pompon from Annick Goutal, Rose Barbare from Guerlain, Oud bouquet and Parfait de roses from Lancôme, Chloe and its flankers (especially Nomade), Rose Ikebana from Hermès, Miss Dior Blooming bouquet ...
I haven't tried any of these but rose is one of my favourite notes , so to choose one is so hard! I'd say ormonde jayne ta'if is my favourite rose scent , it's bewitched me.

Rose is quite problematic for me ;) You either have to decide you will smell of roses the whole day or of somethiing totally different ;D Roses tend to be as domineering as it gets. But I have a few rose-centered perfumes in my collection hunted down few months ago during my rose obsession period. The most prominent for me is Nahema by Guerlain - this is some serious business. I still feel to young for it. You can feel the drama, glamour, blood, love and sorrow all combined together. Oh, and I would take La fille de Berlin by Serge Lutens ten times over Portrait of a Lady ;)
I love your comment! Portrait of a Lady is not really for me because there are quite a few fragrances similar to it however it is definitely gorgeous. I want to test Nahema after your description! My God, that's something I might sincerely enjoy. Thank you!

If you are looking for a realistic rose I recommend Tea Roseby Perfumer's workshop. It is very fresh, lightly powdery amazing bold pink ROSE that my mom adores and wears it so very often
