A new upload has been discovered! Hope you guys enjoy my English rendition of "Kami-iro Awase" from the Danganronpa 3: End of Hope's Peak anime. This song was the opening track for the show's Despair Arc - as a huge Danganronpa fan, I've been wanting to cover it for a while! Thanks to ThunderScott for collaborating with me on the instrumental track!

I think this song reflects Junko's worldview and character very accurately.

she knows that the world she lives in can easily be turned upside down with chaos, and that most people, if not all of them are stuck in a monotonous loop everyday, discontented and made weary by a lot of things. seeing herself as a messiah of sorts, it's her goal to make the whole world despair to combat their, and by extension, her own monotony and apathy. basically like a Project Mayhem-esque revolution to wake the fuck up the masses from their slumber.

'the maze that you can't seem to escape' is the world/system she lives in, one that gives her nothing but a mix of utter boredom, depression, ennui due to its predictability. even if she's smart enough (ultimate analyst) to know where the exit is, she's still can't get away from it, and that brings her pain, which she makes it to pleasure as a defense mechanism. also, we all can't escape from the maze of life, the exit here only being death.

this ties with her nihilistic worldview, one that is partially brought by her talent. as she can predict the results of almost everything, the meaning and surprise one can find with life, nature, etc. has disappeared as fast as the sandcastle she destroyed as a kid. everything is temporary and empty to her.

she also believes that hope inevitably only leads to despair as mostly a result of hoping about the good things the future can give us. for example, you work harder to get that job promotion (gives you hope) only to find yourself laid off (robs you of hope). we all hope for something, but we fail to realize that it can easily bring us despair. this is just how it work.

Junko is asking you to embrace your pain, rage, despair as she does and indulge in them as a way to shield yourself from being hurt. burn this shit to the ground.
this has just been my analysis of the song, and I can say that if one wants to understand Junko's perspective, look no further than this beautiful song itself.
TheUltimate1337ful The worst and I say tragic part about Junko is that she essentially had two choices after realizing her Analysis talent:
A) Go crazy over the fact that everything is the same
B) Spice it up yourself.
I'd go with the latter tyvm.
Jensi Oquendo I feel like she definitely missed something with that ability. Hajime seems to have the exact same ability but he doesn't go crazy, beforehand even when he was Izuru, even Izuru gave hope a chance to see which was more predictable.
I'd still say Junko is right. Hope is a lot more predictable than despair. People react to despair in a very different way than they react to hope. Her view is the logical conclusion of her talent. Hajime not falling into despair, in spite of supposedly retaining his talent, is nonsensical. Could you still consider your friends human, if everything they did was mechanical motions you could predict accurately for months to come? You wouldn't even be able to see value in human life anymore, with a talent like that. Everything normal humans value would simply become boring and lose its value. Only the unpredictable would still be exciting and valuable and despair is more unpredictable than hope. What followed SDR2 was predictable and boring, as can be seen in the anime.
@@IchCharacter The reason Izuru/Hajime didn't turned out like Junko was because of Chiaki's hope
In Despair Arc he saw how Chiaki still tried to fight through the Despair that Junko gave her, still staying hopeful and thinking selflessly
This made him wonder wich was more unpredictable, Hope or Despair
Knowing in the end it was Hope, and seeing the events of Dangan 2 of him learning to always take a third choice, is obvious he can fight through the Nihilism of having all the talents, unlike Junko.
@segafan13 I don't think that argument could hold up. What value would there be in Chiaki's actions, if you would analyse her to the point of seeing her like a biological computer (or actual program, in the game) that merely acted in accordance with its own instincts/programming? Despair goes against most of our strongest natural urges, such as the survival instinct, the typical wishes of self-fulfillment and just about anything else that makes us tick.
I would argue that hope is most often goal-oriented, even if the outcome isn't clear. The origin is vague, but the wished for destination isn't. Despair is the opposite of this. The origin of despair is often crystal clear, but the actions an individual may take because of it can be extremely illogical and there is rarely a clear goal to it, unless a person commits suicide and wants to end their suffering (again, going against your instincts, your biological programming). For Junko, the unpredictability of the outcome of hope is lost. She can either predict the success from a mile away or see the inevitable failure of most wishes and hopes to be a confirmation that despair always wins out, in the end.
Besides, he didn't have the talents for a very long time, possibly not long enough for the realisation of what he has become to set in. If we look at Danganronpa Zero (spoilers), Ryouko also wasn't very full of despair. Jump ~10 years of living with her talent ahead and you get Junko. I guess you could argue that Hajime might still fall to despair. Unless, ironically, the despair Junko brought gave hope an actual stage to shine, such as Makoto, who'd probably be a nobody if it hadn't been for Junko's initiation of the killing school life.

@@thatweirdthing774 Puyo Puyo e-Sports doesn't have a story and is just Puyo Puyo. You can get it on Steam or console. As for most of the others, they were on the Wii and were only in Japanese. There isn't an easy way to get them, it's really either piracy or trying to find used copies on eBay

As a MASSIVE Dangan Ronpa fangirl, this is super exciting! I didn't love the anime, but the openings and endings are awesome.
DapperCuttlefish Almost same, but I actually rather enjoyed Danganronpa 3 (Who am I kidding I almost screamed when I saw Komaru and those kids again. Then came the hope episode and it was AWESOME!)
Monocat I also almost screamed when I saw the WoH and Komaru, but Hope Arc was completely unsatisfactory to me.
DapperCuttlefish I really liked hope arc (if i remember correcly that was that 1 episode, wich ended Dr3) but the future arc (final killing game) was not really that good :P

Monocat I don't think you're in the minority. Lots of people like it but have one small issue or stuff like that. Actually, Hope Arc was really well done, just completely out of tone with the rest of DR. I mostly don't like it because 1. The entire message of "you don't need a talent to be good" got thrown out the window with SHSL Everything Hajime, and 2. it undid all the tragedy in SDR2. It was incredibly well animated, and all the dialogue was great, though.

Is Danganronpa 3 worth watching?
I liked it.
There's those who say it's a bad anime, but it's a conclusion to the Hope's Peak Academy arc so I don't think you would have good closure without it. If you do plan on watching it, you should watch Future Ep. 1 > Despair Ep. 1 > Future Ep. 2, etc. Before you watch the final episode, it would be best if you watch the Nagito OVA too.
Depends. The murder-mystery vibe is not as strong, but the character drama is pretty cool. The second half of Despair feels rushed though. It's not as good as the main games, far too short for that.
I'm... A mixed bag, tbh. On its own, I really like it (though you have to know the games to fully experience everything that it entails), but as a conclusion to the Hope's Peak Academy arc?
.... Let's just say I'm very salty about it.
I personally enjoyed it immensely, especially the future side. And the Despair side really lived up to its name during the last few episodes. Though I fully admit it has its problems, I'd say it's definitely worth a watch.

As someone who just started to get into the Danganronpa series (i.e. currently following a blind Let's Play of the first game, except the Let's Player is currently busy adjusting to moving to Japan), I initially thought this would be the credits theme for the first Danganronpa game and thought, "Wow, the ending has a short song!! :P" I later realized it's the opening to the new Danganronpa anime that seems to finish the story arc of Danganronpas 1 and 2.
Fantastic work! Definitely something to listen to if one needs Hope in times of Despair. :)
