      Good morning, Rachel 😎
      I never did this. Never translated in my mind, I soon realized it was ineffective. I'm a good listener and this helped a lot. I guess that listening to my favourite songs also was helpful.
      My daughter does the same, and it's funny because she learned by herself.
      (Of course, your voice is very clear and your accent is very easy to understand ❤)

    @rachelsenglish Here’s a video idea, Rachel: eggcorns-phrases commonly misunderstood because they’re said by way of links and connections in speech. Case in point: “dog-eat-dog world.”
    Said eggcorns can really put a damp squib on your plans to speak smartly and natively.

    Hi Rachel,I have a question. I try to think in English, but I don't know all the words. When I come across unfamiliar words, I try to find their meanings using a bilingual dictionary. This means I'm constantly thinking in two languages. What is the solution?

    • @rachelsenglish
      @rachelsenglish  10 місяців тому

      Hi! I know this can be frustrating! With time and practice, you can train your brain to think in English. I have a series of videos that could be a good place to start: ua-cam.com/play/PLrqHrGoMJdTTQbVnR6xs78gMLfJp4U7IT.html

    If I show you some object and I will say to think what it is in my language, I am sure you won't be able to guess.
    Could you please explain in more details what do you mean when saying ,,think the name in English".

    • @rachelsenglish
      @rachelsenglish  11 місяців тому

      Hi Katie! This is a vocabulary practice exercise. Many people learn visually, and learning to respond to a picture with a thought in English can help to train the brain to start thinking more quickly in English, rather than having to translate words before speaking.

      Hi! For this word, I'd use the EE + TS sounds. I would not use a Z.

      @@rachelsenglish I didn’t realize a lot of educators were doing this. Ads just slow down the speed at which you can learn anyway. This is actually a pretty brilliant strategy.
