I agree about 40k and fantasy. It is fun to play and the models can end up looking really cool. However, playing these games can be tedious and at the end of the day u really have to be into modeling to enjoy this hobby.
You're making great content! You're currently my go to recommendation for rules overview/gameplay videos for After the Empire. Nervous/interested to see how it ages over time for you!
Descent: haven't played the game but "Why should I be there?" describes why I dislike the coop part of Gloomhaven. Played about 12 missions...they took up to 5 hours because my friends talked so much...and it does not matter if there is only one player who decides who of his x characters does what or the group talks about the best strategy and every single player just does what the group suggests...yes, you do not know the speed of your action but you are allowed to communicate if your move will be slow, medium or fast...and after a while you know the range of certain characters and actions.
I agree for all except Descent, I have Gloomhaven and other Dungeoncrawlers, but for us the adventure packs are great for gamenights. When we want to play a dungeoncrawl, we pick up one of them and you full develope your character your class in a gamenight.
Just bought El Grande big box good price at local game store, looking to play when wife is ready,, lot of reviewers still rank it one of their favorites.I will see how it holds up. Good videos ,like how you cover lots of games in short time, don’t have time to do the the 1 hour videos of top 10, I just scan to get picks.
It's always "Troyes" that I get messages about. I really need to play this again, it's been years. If I like it maybe I'll do a video called "Games you should try again"!
Loved Dead of Winter at first too and have since gotten rid of it after getting Nemesis which I feel replaced it. Your arguments against your #1 also apply to Matt Leacock games, and Forbidden Desert made one of your top 10 recommended lists. Doesn't bother you as much in those games?
I still enjoy some of Matt's games, mostly the later stuff or more reworked and deeper designs of his. I'd be hard pressed to play basic Pandemic again for example, while I do like Rome or Iberia, and I do still enjoy Forbidden Desert. I think I put FD on my list of games for new collections, because I think it's a good beginner co-op experience, that in my opinion, wont wear out its welcome as fast as Forbidden Island or base pandemic would. And while I dont crave to play Forbidden Desert every day, I know I will play it yearly, since it's a crowd-pleaser and seems to entertain gamers of all levels, so I wouldn't feel right putting it on a list like this.
I enjoyed this video, and I'm glad the algorithm tossed you my way.
Gonna work my way through your backlog.
Greetings from Iceland :)
Seeing those pictures, kinda feel like playing Troyes again

Classic example of how Trickerion is just smarter as you :P
😂, maybe I should have read the rules first!

Thank you for your encouragement! I am having fun with this, and I am excited to see what I can do with more time and growth!
@@matenason Yeah, man. Your show is already super well done, so any improvement is just icing on the cake!
