Hello. Interesting Vid. You finished with 2D Tech Draw Work Bench (WB) of a 3D drawing. Can the opposite be done..? Start with Tech Draw WB going to Part Design WB..? Thank you.
Hi, thks for the question, I understand your interrogation, indeed NO, in FreeCAD the Techdraw workbench is done to make technical drawing from a 3D shape and not the inverse. But when you construct in 3D you generally start with a 2D shape done with the sketcher workbench. There is also the interesting Draft WB that is hybrid in that sense, you can sketch some draft and then convert it in some ways in 3D, but this maybe confusing at beginning, I could do a video on it. But in general the normal workflow for simple part is => Sketch => Partdesign to build 3D shape (or Part) => Techdraw to make official drawing
I have FreeCAD 1.0.0 running on a Windows 10 laptop. The video says it's for "FreeCAD 1.0", but the video shows yet another variation ("1.0.0RC2"). My version does not start with the same screen as shown in the video, so I'm lost before I get started.
RC2, means release candidate2, when I did the video final version of FreeCAD 1.0.0 was not yet available, Both version are identic at 99,5% except to version number and start screen, so I think that should do it :-)
Please continue. It's not just the speed. I played it at half speed and then I saw that the words and what you are doing are not synchronized. My advice: form groups. Put a one-second pause between groups. Write in the video which menu item you are using. I myself use RC4. I couldn't manage to mark the pivot point on the body. What am I doing wrong?
Yeah I know, it comes from my workflow, and I did this videos a bit in draft mode to test if there is some interest or not. As said I'll improve all that and more... It doesn't look like it, but making good UA-cam videos is a whole process, and before diving in headlong, you have to test a little. I'm a big believer in the baby steps strategy. Concerning the pivote point on the body : try the official 1.0.0 Version it comes out yesterday.
I advise you to watch the video first, then try to do it yourself on your own. If you want to do it in //, the video's tempo will be too high, in which case you can watch the video in French🇫🇷/🇨🇭Swiss ua-cam.com/video/Bv36vOpx9Jc/v-deo.html , which has a much quieter tempo - that's Switzerland🫕🐮🏔! and activate the English subtitles.
Thanks for the feedback, it's very useful. concerning GUI : check your version, it's with FreeCAD 1.0 RC2, I'm under linux it may very slightly change a few details. and I put the panel "Tasks" on the right. concerning speed : My teenagers and friends have told me that I need to talk faster and “bombard” more, but here it's definitely to fast. these are my first videos and I'm still finding my format, speed, etc... in the meantime If it's too fast you can always put the subtitles on and play the video in 0.5x speed. but I'll do it again in a better tempo.
Yeah, really! I'm not sure why the word "beginner" is in the vid title, looks awfully advanced to me. This is NOT a good instructional video, especially for a "beginner". 😳🙄
@@007tallguy okay okay, good to know, you know there are many kind of beginners, if you just start learning 3D CAD, maybe start with this playlist, that is really from 0 and more "academic", taking concept after concept ua-cam.com/play/PLxdtgwBLobN37r0YLmHtfoenLg9zP1EVb.html

@@ga3d_._tech528 I guess the "bombard" is good for general videos that need to keep the viewer. Tutorials, on the other hand, may benefit from slower steps, not necessarily talking slower. This is especially true for videos for beginners who are not familiar with the UI and need help with every single click.

The video looks accelerated, for example when you go for the workbench addons it is too quick to see where you click, and for beginners on freecad, this is hard to follow

@@ga3d_._tech528 Many thanks for prompt reply. Kind-of figured FC Workflow. Thank you for Vid offer. Am sure you have other Vid subject plans.
