The color coding and 2 circuit per box is an awesome idea. Ill make sure to incorporate that.

Also make sure that you pigtail the neutral and don't run it through the outlet.

Added info it is called an Edison circuit and you have to be very careful and make sure you get the neutral fastened down really well because if you loose the neutral somewhere is can send the full 240 down one leg and the stuff plugged in won't like it just an added note. Good tip on the excess plugs laying around

I need to just about rewire my entire basement. It was poorly wired to start with. Not dangerous, just not planned out with a shop in mind. I also plan on moving a bunch of process related stuff from one area to another. So many decisions to make and a lot of time to make it work.

ManCraftingTM yeah when I first moved here there were only outlets in the garage. 2 in the ceiling for the garage doors, and 2 on the opposite side of the garage than where I needed them. For along time I ran the whole shop area off extension cords to the other side of the garage. Garages always seem to be wired poorly.

I also put the number of the circuit breaker on the plate.

Marcel's Workshop that's a really good idea! I'll do that tonight!

I've bought many things from Harbor Fright over the years, but not extension cords or ends or other electrical. I am concerned about the quality of electrical items. Are they built good enough to handle the load without starting a fire? Most things there appear to be made with undersized parts and low quality so they can be sold cheap. Whats your experience?

Bob Derby I think they are all "to code" but I think most major brands will over shoot the spec and under rate the item. I think if you're buying harbor freight cords it's probably fine but I might be more apt to watch the ratings a bit closer. Like I wouldn't try to run 25 amps across a light duty cord all day long etc. the plug ends are fine and I didn't notice any difference to the ones from the big box.

Plus, wall warts don't (usually) pull a lot of amperage.
