- My favorite Wings concert period! This is not a copy from any common DVD, but a new transfer from an original PAL S-VHS. I believe this to be of better quality than what has been seen before. The audio here is an experimental stereo mix, one channel is the original video feed, and the other is from the direct soundboard recordings. Anyways, Wings kick serious rock and roll AS** here! Go Jimmy...
I'm 63 and this song rocked my bones
This is great quality! Love this version.
Remembering Jimmy McCulloch born on June 4, 1953. He was a Scottish musician and songwriter best known for playing lead guitar and bass, as a member of Paul McCartney's band Wings from 1974 to 1977. McCulloch was a member of the Glasgow psychedelic band One in a Million (formerly known as the Jaygars), Thunderclap Newman, and Stone the Crows. - en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jimmy_McCulloch
REST IN PEACE JIMMY.
for me the best wings formation
Without doubt!
Jimmy was a truly underrated guitarist. Seeing as how Wings did tunes from Paul and Denny's respective pasts (example: Beatles songs, or "Go Now"), it's a shame they never worked out any of Jimmy's stuff from Thunderclap Newman. "I See It All" would've been nice if re-interpreted by Wings, but I guess Jimmy wasn't the kind of guy to keep looking back, and I've heard that he never got on musically with John Keen.
he was great.....what a talent ......I saw him in the Wings Over America tour
Обалденная песня! Драйва - выше крыши!
Джимми, мы помним тебя..
Wow! Took my breath away. The audio is great!
Great song - thank you for sharing this version! Although we didn't hear Jimmy sing often, I think he had a great "bluesy" voice. However, from a band that also had Paul and Denny on vocals, his voice was bound to be under-used...
james at his peak. a gifted artist
Best line up.....Jimmy....RIP.....
I love Jimmy
@lalovelylinda I can answer that.
Jimmy used to double up his vocals when recording. That meant recording the vocal line and then recording it again on another track and running the two together to add a fuller sound to the vocals. It's a common trick used by a lot of singers back in the day. Paul would just 'double up' the vocal with Jimmy when they played live.
Great video and great song off of Venus and Mars. i always loved this one. didn't realize it wasn't Paul's song.
The REAL live!
this is my brothers favorite song. and he will eventually end up just like jimmy as he sings this song to me. you hear me ARDY!!!!!
I love this! TY for posting!
perfect! great!!
Great video! Paul doesn't stop moving for a second.
And thanks Mikemaniax for the tip on "I See It All". I have the Thunderclap Newman "Hollywood Dream"album and only listened to it once or twice. Nothing seemed to stick out. Everything sounded too much like "Something in the Air". I played back "I See It All" and it's pretty rockin'.
@Joy Stinson What folks say that. I've never heard that before.
Thank You very much for uploading, great song and version!!!
i was right R.I.P. Ardy I will miss you 01/23/2010
RIP Jimmy

very good quality! Thank you!
Suuuuper Clearly!
Sounds & Movie
Really nice video and audio quality .... thanks for sharing.
I've subscribed hoping for more clips.
I don't know if it is only me, but this live version Jimmy played the solo mid-song way up on the neck on the narrow frets, and it largely replicates his guitar sound on Venus/Mars. On another live concert performance of Medicine Jar on YT, he was using a Gibson SG, but I believe he went into the solo somewhere around the middle of the guitar neck, and the solo sounded a little weak, not as emphatic and muted in tone. This one had all the high notes/bends/screech he put into the acetate version. Boy, the kid could play, couldn't he? Gone, like many others, way, way, way too soon.
Paul, sempre perfeito. muito bom.
When he doesn’t have to be lead on everything Paul is so comfortable being the bass player
A classic
♡♡♡
"Medicine Jar"
What's wrong with you?
I wish I knew
You say time will tell
I hope that's true
There's more to life than blues and reds
I say, I know how you feel
Now your friends are dead
Dead on your feet, you won't get far
If you keep on sticking your hand
In the medicine jar
Now don't give up
Whatever you do
You say time will tell
I hope that's true
If you go down and lose your head
I say, I know how you feel
Now your friends are dead
Dead on your feet, you won't get far
If you keep on sticking your hand
In the medicine jar
I said, dead on your feet, you won't get far
If you keep on sticking your hand
In the medicine jar
What can I do?
I can't let go
You say time will heal
But very slow
So don't forget the things you said
I say, I know how you feel
Now your friends are dead
Dead on your feet, you won't get far
If you keep on sticking your hand
In the medicine jar
I said, dead on your feet, you won't get far
If you keep on sticking your hand
In the medicine jar
Medicine jar
The medicine jar
Medicine jar
The medicine jar
Medicine jar
The medicine jar
Medicine jar
Medicine jar
Medicine jar
Medicine jar
Medicine jar
Medicine jar
Medicine jar
\m/ rock n roll,. . . !!
Thanks! Now I just need to re-transfer the entire concert and remix the audio...
Great tune. Pretty ironic though that Jimmy wrote this one and Wino Junko off of Wings at the Speed of Sound, and then died of a drug overdose at 25. R.I.P. Jimmy
Yeah. Sad but not really ironic because he didn't write the lyrics - I did.
I know you did ! Pretty cool you actually saw and replied to my comment. 40 years later, as a pianist, I still love playing both tunes. You still active playing the drums?
No - retired from such malarkey 4½ years ago, but it was fun while it lasted that's for sure.
Your many musical contributions are truly appreciated ! Sent you a FB friend request. Hope to stay in touch if possible.
I did what I did - as best as I could. Send another FB friend request - I'll okay it.
@rhythmrancher Irony. Jimmy didn't write the lyrics. He put them to music.
greetings from the great state of Texas I was 14 years old when Jimmy passed away and his brother and looks very similar to him just gorgeous both of his brother drummer was a very talented drummer and had to unfortunately find him dead in his apartment in London in 1979 of a heroin overdose he was drinking heavily it'll start with marijuana but anyway Allen Colin and Jimmy McCulloch wrote this song Allen was in stone the crows with Jimmy and Maggie Bell you could see them on UA-cam as well his passing is such a disgrace and a shame very very sad it's kind of depressing to see him in all these videos and a lot of the interviews Jimmy is just completely wasted very sad everybody thought it was just really funny that's so funny when people lose their lives
0:10 what did paul say?
Sounds and looks killer. Any way to purchase a copy of that video once you're done with it?
@JimmyMcCullochFan Oh wow, I thought he wrote the whole song. The 1st time I was really aware of him was in the song Jr's. farm when Paul said, "take me down Jimmy" at 1st I thought it was Jimmy Page doing a studio session, but soon learned that Jimmy McCulloch was a great guitarist in his own rite.
greetings from the great state of Texas Jimmy passed away in 1979 of a heroin overdose I was 14 years of age Jimmy was gorgeous so was his brother Jack very underrated musicians that's for sure and is death his passing was a crying shame the McCartney somebody should have sent into rehab he would have still been alive today he looks very wired hair usually he's not this Lively in performances interesting maybe a little too much to drink and smoke
I am sure Jim improvised it for whatever reason.
Joy Stinson she’s blocked from commenting on my channel.
Irony or self fulfilling prophesy? RiP Jimmy
Greetings from the great state of Texas great song was written by Alan Colin and Jimmy McCulloch Allen was in the band with Jimmy the band Stone the crows with Maggie Bell phenomenal band very underrated as well Jimmy was beyond gorgeous he is red-hot here Jimmy's older brother Jack was a drummer looks very similar to Jimmy it's very sad to see some of his interviews and see some of this since he's no longer with us his passing away was very devastating and could have been avoided Jimmy seems a little tipsy the whole band does how ironic Tipsy maybe high on marijuana he's usually not this Lively I've never seen him this Lively in concerts money doesn't bring happiness obviously Jimmy had many demons God bless you all
@Joy Stinson HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY JOY OVER AND ALABAMA HOPE AND PRAY ALL IS WELL THANK YOULIKE I'VE SAID THE INFORMATION THAT I HAD GOTTEN WAS FROM OTHER PEOPLE ON UA-cam AND STUFF LIKE THAT AND FROM PINTEREST PHOTOS THAT'S ALL HOPE AND PRAY ALL IS WELL I'M DOING WELL CONSIDERING ALL WE ARE VERY BLESSED IT COULD BE WORSE WE HAVE A PLACE TO LIVE AND FOOD TO EAT SOME PEOPLE DO NOT HAVE THAT WE NEED TO HELP THE LEAST OF THESE AND HELP OUR FAMILIES AND PARENTS I'M HOPING TO GET I'VE BEEN IN A LOT OF PAIN HOPING TO GET A CAR SOON I ENJOY NOT HAVING A CAR THAT MAKES FOR GOOD EXERCISE AND KEEPS A PERSON HUMBLE BUT IT'S GETTING TO THE POINT THAT IT WOULD BE NICE TO AT LEAST HAVE ONE FOR WHEN I DO WANT TO DRIVE IT INSTEAD OF TAKING PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION GOING TO ENJOY LIFE THE BEST THAT I CAN AND SLOW DOWN I'LL BE 55 AUGUST 18TH...... ANYWAY IT'S A SHAME WHAT HAPPENED TO JIMMY EITHER WAYI DO WISH SHE WAS STILL ALIVE TODAY AND IT'S IT'S KIND OF DIFFICULT SOMETIMES TO WATCH THESE VIDEOS GOD BLESS YOU AND YOURSI DID FIND OUT WHY SOMEONE ON FACE ON UA-cam THAT THEY KNOW SOMEONE WHO KNOWS JACK AND ANNABELLA MCCULLOUGH THAT WAS OF COURSE JIMMY'S BROTHER AND SISTER-IN-LAW THEY'RE STILL ALIVE THAT'S ALL THE INFORMATION I COULD GET THEY DIDN'T RESPOND BACK THIS WAS ABOUT TWO MONTHS AGO GOD BLESS YOU
both Jimmy and Joe are technically better than Denny.
@Joy Stinson I agree with you, Joy. (You are aware of course and this is an unrelated point, Denny didn't write Go Now.)
what a waste, very sad
