Good stuff guy’s, enjoyed!!
You guys are awesome. Thank you for doing this. Listening to you brothers is like being at the moose lodge on lake James in Nebo North Carolina. Listen to the old timers tell the history.
Love to see a full length documentary. Great history!
It’s great to get outside and explore the ol’ home place. Whenever you take a walk back in the time of your childhood or even further to the time of your ancestors, your memories and your immigration are stirred up. That has so many health benefits. The Petty’s like so many other families in the south, lived the simple life. My grandfathers and my great uncles always talked about how hard life was out in the country. They worked hard, even as young boys, to plant and grow what they had to eat. They helped to clear trees from the land so that they could plant small food plots. They hunted for turkey, deer and small game all year. Yes, some of then made mountain spirits from corn crops or rye. During prohibition, the demand for corn whiskey was high so you could make a few dollars for your family. Enforcement by the law helped keep the moonshine distiller competition thinned out. They always told me that good water and good grains made for good whiskey. A clean sulfur spring or a small, clear running creek was often a secret ingredient to some of the most famous white lightning. Looks like the early Petty family relatives had just that up on that ridge moving down to their still site. You Petty Brothers should dig a little further into your families past history. I just bet that there is the making of an interesting story there. I bet Richard has heard some stories or remembers some if those hard times in his and your dads childhood. Memories fade with time and the death of loved ones. Better to capture them now than to have them lost forever. I appreciate so much the video content that the three of you continue to serve up on your channel. Not only is it important at this time with the 75th Anniversary celebration, it’s also so interesting to learn about your family. God bless y’all and keep the videos coming. - Tennessee Smoky
Another great episode, definitely stories that you aren't going to hear anywhere else.
Thanks for the tour. Always interesting.
love yalls videos
Thanks guys!
To use a quote from 43 The Petty Story. “A man gotta do what a man gotta do.” Randolph County is similar to the county I grew up in (Pittsylvania County, VA). Times were different and they had to survive. Also, THANK YOU for sharing stories about your family.
Really enjoyed!! 👍 43
Thank you!!
So interesting, keep on going
Thank Brian!
Awesome stuff..
Johnson County was pretty big on moonshining, too.
I really enjoyed this you took us there and told us about your family history this is great keep it coming thank you
Glad you enjoyed it!
To quote Dale Inman, ‘It wasn’t always this easy’ pretty much says it all. Fans today may not realize the struggles that your Grandparents went through to survive. Thank you for sharing these stories about how it was back in their day and even in your Daddy and Richard’s younger years as well! Keep up the great work!
Just think if those hills could talk thank you for your stories
Really enjoying the family history and memories guys!! I'm inspired to build another diorama. LOL! Great stuff! Keep 'em coming!!
Keep these coming❤️❤️
God bless our grandparents. As you say, they did what they had to do.
Another awesome video! I really enjoy hearing your family history!
so much history, too bad you guys can't dig up the cars and car parts that are burried. You could turn part of the shop into a museum. I would love to see that. looking forward to the car show this weekend.
I like the mix of family and racing history. The thing is, you can't really separate the two. Also, going back through the woods, if I didn't know better, looks a whole lot like the woods behind my shop n Halifax County, VA. It has a creek at the bottom of the hill, and we're always running across or digging up stuff that wasn't necessarily used for farming back in the day.
So, the original Petty racing team was "Petty Brothers" (Julie Petty & Lee) & now it's come full circle with y'all "Petty Brothers" Racing once again. That's neat.
I love this! You brothers are the best! This really opens my eyes to struggles families were facing back then and what they did to survive. Thank you all for sharing! Wish you guys would do a episode on the illegal engine at Charlotte, how it got through inspection and how they went looking for Darrell but they were the first truck to leave! Strong speculation Darrell was illegal too and wanted to finish second or third to gain points on Bobby Alison.
Another great video on the part of Petty history that doesn't get told. I do have an idea for a future edition. The movie "43 The Petty Story". If I remember, didn't one of you play your dad as a boy? Also, does that movie mean that your Dad & Uncle & Ralphie from "A Christmas Story" are brothers? lol. Keep up the good work guys.
Yes that’s Timmy in the movie, and yes I guess so lol!
The story that definitely got my interest was how long it took to build that house. (From the Stapleton42 video) Since Mr Richard was saying his grandfather Tooms let the frame of the house stand for while before his grandfather finished the house.
That covers the moonshine, now how about Maurice 's roosters?cabbage Hensley who made a substantial amount of his income rooster fighting used to say don't ever bet against mo reese petty 's roosters, cause he's got the best blood lines they is.
Y'all need to fix your audio all your videos are so quiet
Guy, you really need to improve the sound...
