On this channel we like to do a lot of dogfighting most videos are some sort of dogfight between 2 different aircraft as we explore their different capabilities. From time to time I like to dabble in Virtual Reality, I think VR is a great new technology and I love to show that stuff off for the channel from time to time.

Please create a Vid with The A-10C & F-15E while on the same side/team are directly competing as they are often compared! In the sense that they aren't really looking out for one another, trying to get the most kills, and of course survive! VS couple Mi-24's, Strela, Tunguska, SA-5, SA-11, and couple SU-25's! Do the reverse, you use the checkmate and see if you can kill a raptor. That hyper was close, so skill and holding the hypers a little longer before firing might be enough.

23 wasn't a better dogfighter tho, it was stealthier and faster than 22... Su47 still, a very purpose built low speed hairpin turner... the outcome is pretty clear in a dogfight...

It feels like BVR fights are more about the missiles than the platform carrying them. There's certainly an argument for the platform being stealth, having a good radar, etc. but the missile capabilities feels like 80% of the fight.
That’s kind of correct I’d say more like 65-70% but ya the assessment is accurate for the most part.
Su-75 wasn’t designed to kill a raptor with its guns…

@bmoorear they have 0 of these. They can't even put together a functional squadron of 57's. The 75 we saw is nothing more than a plywood model. All of Russias' advanced weapons are tech demos. The T14 breaking down in the Red Square during May Day rehearsal, their inability to make the 57 actually functional, and now this joke of a thing which looks like a wish version of the X32 which is even funnier because they are copying a western design that lost its contract bid to the F35. There is a reason putins only threat to the west is nuclear in nature, they would get absolutely bodied in conventional warfare with the US.

Two scary additions to the Raptor would be the MBDA Meteor or the AIM-260 JATM, which is reported to be coming sometime in 2024. It would be fun to see either of these applied to the Raptor and facing multiple 5th-generation fighters.

For a cardboard & plywood mockup built for indoor presentations pursuing foreign sales orders, that Su75 is a badass.

It’s nice to see GS head back home after that engagement. I turned down my volume three times during that! Each time, narrative like, “It’s been a while, so I *should* be clear of the hypersonic missile now,” has me hitting the 📢) button on my computer so the sound of skull fragments blowing down into the pilot’s chest cavity didn’t make me jump.
I have to wonder if the Raptor Killer statement was made with a dog fighting idea. Anything can sling a long range missle, however, the Raptor is not just stealth, it can dogfight better than almost all other fighters.
Ya I think to claim to kill the raptor in a dogfight is an ever bigger claim to say you can beat it in BVR
I honestly think it was far more of a marketing idea. Russia has a long history of making inflated claims about the performance of their weapons to drive sales, then their buyers find out they've been sold second rate hardware. Just ask Egypt, Syria, India....

Pretty sure 23 is even more stealthy. Remember the 22 was redesigned to take some of the 23s stealth shape.
@TheOfficial007 that's why it would be interesting to go up against the Black Widow. To see if it doesn't get tracked like the Raptor. 23 was stealthier and faster, just wasn't as quite as maneuverable. USAF was skeptical about choosing Northrop after delays and budget overruns with the development of the B-2. Raptor is awesome but I wonder what might've been with the Black Widow. Cool that DCS can give us a glimpse.

@@codychild2665AFAIK the Black Widow was only marginally faster, think like 0.2 mach tops, but it was gonna be more difficult to work with in terms of the materials for smth complex near the intake and exhaust for RCS control; in weapons capacity Raptor could hold 8 and even demonstrated firing while the YF-23 would hold a little less. In the big picture the industry balance at the time for fighters leaned towards Mc/Boeing and NG so I imagine the thought was to throw LM a bone.
DCS is modeled based on the unclassified numbers. Historically, Russia tends to overstate their capabilities, and the US tends to understate them. One thing I keep thinking about though... You know how beefy the radar is on an F-15, where it can lock you, your jet, and the hotdog you have in your stomach? When they ran a 5v1 exercise against the F-22, none of the F-15's even got radar contact, let alone lock or visual.
I always enjoy the airshow passes at the end. Great stuff.

There is no RCS of a bumblebee..
The US just gives you lowest possible RCS in best condition. Average RCS is MUCH higher.
Awesome stuff, REALLY love to see two experimental models in DCS (experimental because we won't get any real-life data and performance on these things any time soon).
Rumorville says the updated F-22 that has the stealth drop tanks also has the Aim-260s. Make some videos using the Aim-260s. The F22 and NGAD possibly the F35 are the only fighters to carry and use them. Aim260 has a smart engine both IR and radar seeker. Longest range out of all current missles.
Hmmm, wouldn't dropping the drop tanks then hand your stealth technology over to whoever picks it up?

That's why the AIM260 is in production. Perun has a great video on the subject
The AMRAAM D is extremely capable but yes it is out ranged by some other missiles. The fact that a chinese missile can fly further means nothing if it can't lock on to a Stealth fighter until its 20 miles away.
For now… yes. The 260 and other missiles in development should give the US the edge again.

I have to say, I do like the look of the Checkmate. It looks like an amalgam of Boeing and Lockheed's JSF designs if they didn't have the Marine/STOVL requirement, which might very well have been their design inspiration.
Time will tell if it ever reaches production.

I love how this encounter is conducted under two VERY big assumptions. The first one being that the supposed”hypersonic” missiles actually work; and the second being that the Checkmate’s stealth can actually defeat incoming AMRAAMS. There is also the third assumption that it even makes it off the production line at all as well.
I thought the AMRAAMS were defeated kinetically in this video, he said they were mostly out of range up until that last one, and off the production line lol? Big assumption that it even makes it off the pieces of paper designing it XD

I’m so excited for the AIM-260 to be active. According to Sandboxx, our military said the AIM-260 is so advanced that we could decrease our number of already limited Raptors, and still be just fine.

It looks like the Checkmate (in DCS at least) has a really powerful radar to get and keep weapons locks on the F22 at those ranges. It’s what I’d expect with a F35 or F15EX radar.

GS and the play by play its like your a chess pro, I would really love to see this with you guys switching jets, and see how much is the pilot.
