  • Hello everyone, my name is Duong.
    I am 32 years old.
    I live in a poor mountainous area of Vietnam.
    From a young age, I had to work hard to help my parents.
    Difficult life is always around, I work and learn everything from my grandparents and the old people in the village.
    Gradually, I mastered the skills.
    5 years ago, I decided to live the challenge.
    Determined to learn about the primitive way of life, I chose to live in the wilderness, alone.
    Where there's no technology and forcing yourself to pass, it feels great!
    How about you? Your life is definitely different from mine.
    Have fun watching the video!

    I started watching your channel because I'm fascinated by low technology methods of doing things. I never expected you to get into fiber crafts, which is a special interest of mine. I'm so excited by your loom and the cloth you've made with it! Your skills and persistence amaze me, especially that you seem to have done it all from memory, even the building of the loom. You are a very impressive man. I hope your parents have come to appreciate that. I know your beautiful and equally talented wife does. 😊

    • @_Wai_Wai_
      @_Wai_Wai_ 11 місяців тому

      Can you explain what is going on in the loom? All I see is a string out of a shuttle that gets snaked thru between two layers of fibers, back and forth. Don't see how that creates a weave.

    • @dingus42
      @dingus42 11 місяців тому +3

      @@_Wai_Wai_The two layers are set up such that the lines on top are all alternating with the ones below. So each time he pulls the shuttle through the gap, it effectively instantly weaves that thread up and down through every line in one go. Then he uses the other frame to compact the weave down.

    I love watching these videos! It looks like you could use a wood working adze and a hewing axe that would make your wood carving easier and less labor intensive. As a blacksmith I love seeing that you have progressed into the Iron Age. You could probably even manage a water powered saw mill with the technology you have upgraded to. Forge on my friend!!!

    I love how this series has almost become like a peek into what early Southeast Asian civilizations would have looked like. 1000x better than any textbook, even if certain aspects (especially crops from the Americas and perhaps iron working, depending on time and place) aren't exactly 100% accurate.

    Duong, that is AMAZING. I agree with the other comments, I can't even find words to describe how impressed I am.
    By the way, I noticed you are trying to use your legs instead of your back to lift ;) Hope your back feels better~
    ---
    You can try making a pillow! Use chicken feathers for pillow stuffing~
    You might need to forge scissors, cutting fabric with a knife is very hard!
    Use some of the cloth as kitchen towels! Dry your hands, or wash dishes with them!
    If you have enough fabric, you could even make window curtains with them!
    You should really try making soap out of wood ash, you will need soap to keep your new clothes fresh and clean!
    You can also make table cloth~ Just drape it over your kitchen table and make it look more upgraded, nicer looking, fancy, clean.
    You could make a bench and put some pillows on it for comfort. You can also drape the bench in fabric to make it look extra nice and comfortable.
    You could upgrade your bedroom and add bed sheets! You could also make a blanket to keep you warm at night :)
    You could also make a cloth lamp for your electric light.

    I am so impressed with your loom and weaving. I saw it done before on another channel. Once the finished with the weaving, they took the fabric to a stream and beat it in the water to tighten the weave, then the hung to dry with stretcher weights on it. This gave the fabric the tight weave of store bought fabrics

    Very nice. Now you can make some pillows and wash clothes and more. You can stuff more cotton inside of the fabric you made for the pillows if you get more cotton. I don't know if you need to make different kinds of Looming Frames or not. Like big looming frames. That would be for a blanket. Probably could make Ponchos and Robes out of the Big Looming Frames too. The fish pond looks really nice and clear. It's amazing you did all of that. I guess once you know how all there's left to do is just to do it if you can get the materials. I wonder what other projects you're going to have around there. Is it possible to make your backyard bigger or your garden area bigger in any direction or can you clear and level an area out behind your garden and build another dirt wall house there where you can put all of your clothes making equipment inside of that one?

    Use some grease or oil on the combs, it won't hurt the clothes, it will just make way easier to comb the threads. You can always use soap to wash it away as you tighten or stiffen it.

    Bonjour à toutes et tous de France 🇫🇷
    C'est une excellente chose de replanter des arbres.
    Ma question est :
    Comme le sol est mou, ne serait-il pas préférable de mettre des tuteurs pour les jeunes plants de papayes pour protéger leur croissance et ne faut-il pas les protéger des bêtes sauvages comme les sangliers ?
