It's a bit of a mom car in the US. But practicality and efficiency is not a huge sell on the American market. Hatchbacks are common (you'll see them every day) but not popular (the vast majority of cars are large SUVs, trucks, and muscle/sports cars). In Europe, it seems like a great car to get good gas mileage, be easy to get into, a little more spacious than your average ride, and in a nice color. Also cheap for a new car.
