Regretting my life right now after my big chop. I’m 14 in high school and I’m really not looking forward to going to school tomorrow. I know it will grow out thicker and better but its such a process.
I get it...maybe you can try cute headwear like headbands, scarves, and hats since it's starting to get colder. It does take some getting used to though.
Girl this is just a phase that you'd see you'll move past so quickly. It'll be over before you know it, I had to learn to embrace this stage. Trust me you'll learn to love it!! Cheers to happy healthy growing!
Wow...is there anyone on here that actually LIKED their big chop? Maybe it's just me, but I BC'd & loved it, point blank period. Matter of fact, I was planning to start from scratch & grow it back out...but I love how I look (way more than I thought I would), and it's so easy that I'm keeping it short! I just don't have time for the pressures, long wash days, etc. that came w/ longer natural hair...and the confidence ain't fake, lol. But again, maybe it's just me.

Weaves, wigs, and abandonment had wrecked havoc on my hair cuticle so I just accepted that it needed to be cut off. I love that you made this video for support on day 2.

In the past when I have BC, I just rolled with it and didn't care too much about what other people thought of it. This time, I find myself being so concerned with what my coworkers will say when I return to work. I shouldn't care what they think, though. This too shall pass. I am going to rock this ish!
I just recently chopped my hair about 2 weeks ago, it's a bit longer in the front but it gets really shorter in the back. My hair was extremely dry and heat damaged. Now that I regret chopping my hair, it's time for me to get over it. This is my time to actually take care of it, and hopefully it grows even longer than before! I'm aiming to grow my hair to about 12 inches long!
I'm in the "I'm every woman" stage and the feeling "ugly" stage at the same time. (Weird feelings) I love the video, especially the "I'm everyone " catwalk. Lol
I've big chopped my hair 3 times and each time I have felt relieved like a weight is off my shoulders and then later once it's grown out a few inches I end up looking in the mirror and thinking 'what the hell am I going to do with this". I've always been natural but I've been a lazy natural. So when my hair ends up damaged from neglect I would get frustrated and just chop it all off. But I'm tired of being a lazy natural I have learned to accept that my hair is not low maintenance and if I want it to grow I need to be proactive in my hair care and stick to a regimen/routine.
NaturallyEsma Girl you are absolutely right! I am learning that too. I was thinking, "Yeah, short hair is a piece of cake." smh...yeah right lol. It is, to a certain extent, but you definitely have to be mindful of its health and I think that's the part that requires a little more care and maintenance.
I so agree with this. I went through all of these stages, especially the double think and regret stage and the boredom and impatience stage. I felt all of this and them some, but in the end I am so glad I did it. I now have hair that is healthy and growing and I love it. Thank you for this video.

Lol.My 4c or should i say 4z hair has blattantly refused to curl like all the gorgeous ones i saw on youtube before i big chopped. Then there's the shrinkage. Oh the frustration!!! I'm literally trying to convince myself to like myself right now.

I CANT WAIT for my hair to be long enough for me to get it braided. I miss my hair :(. Never cutting it again lol

This is my SECOND BIG CHOP! The first time, I was scared, but also excited! I did wonder how long it would take to see growth, but it was something that I had wanted to do for a long time. Now that it’s my SECOND BIG CHOP! I’ve had nothing but EXCITEMENT! I needed the big change in my life...this year is my year to change many things in my life, and I’m totally stoked! LOVING IT ALL!
And the sad part is my boyfriend adores my natural look and will put pressure on me to wear hair out short, he did a whole campaign for me to cut my hair so that my features can one out since last year and I promised I'd cut my hair if and only if he buys me these other fancy hair products, he kept his end of the bargain and I was like "yasssss 😎 time for a new me" then I cut some hair off and I was looking cute and everyone around the house was feeling my powers along with me telling me how amazing I look now with shorter hair, I went to go wash it and didn't like the fact that my hair had two different textures so I cut off the semi-relaxed bits, looked in the mirror and my life ended. I was even getting ready to tell my boyfriend that I finally did the big chop, now I don't want to because he'll get excited and put pressure on me to wear my hair out short and I really don't want to I feel hideous ... HIDEOUS I TELL YAH😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭 then again I know he'll find out because he hates it when I wear my wig and I haven't been wearing it and he's been going on about how much he loves my natural look, and when I met him I wore no make up and didn't own a wig and he really likes my face and checks me out a lot more now that i got tired of my wig (he thinks it's cz he begged and begged me), but now I feel hideous 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭 .... Ah my life is over and I don't know how to fix this 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭

dw if your regretting you can always glue it back. I would just advise the extra strongsuper glue with the hardcore grip. That'll be sure to get the job done. 😊👍🏾
I did it after many years of perms. I absolutely love my hair texture. My curls are amazing. I wish I wouldn't have wasted so much time on permed hair. I wish I would have done it a long time ago. I discovered that I have what some people call good hair.

Omg! Am at stage 3 right now. I BC on Jan 8 after growing out my relaxed hair to mid back.I wanted to experience all the stages of natural hair but every time I touch my head am like mannnn I should have transitioned longer to get more hang time. I just beed to research TWA styles and rock da wish outta it.
Omg I had a pixie cut...I grew it out for 8month with protective styles...then I relaxed it I had shoulder length hair...after 2 weeks I went back to my hair stylist bleach color and cut...when I was finished I was like wtf did I do..whyyyy..I think I'm between 1-3 stage...tomorrow will make one week since I did this...lol
I feel like I'm going through all the stages in a cycle right now 😏 I big chopped last Wednesday ...after allowing my cousin to do a photo shoot the Tuesday. I'm waking up from dreams with my hair being mid-back length to see in the mirror not even 3 inches. I'm still hung up on the 3 inches that I told the barber to leave all over my head...he didn't listen so my plan for braids isn't possible for a few months *sigh* I don't regret it though. Health over length.

I did it after many years of perms. I absolutely love my hair texture. My curls are amazing. I wish I wouldn't have wasted so much time on permed hair. I wish I would have done it a long time ago. I discovered that I have what some people call good hair.

I BC on Jan 8 after growing out my relaxed hair to mid back.I wanted to experience all the stages of natural hair but every time I touch my head am like mannnn I should have transitioned longer to get more hang time. I just beed to research TWA styles and rock da wish outta it.

Omg I had a pixie cut...I grew it out for 8month with protective styles...then I relaxed it I had shoulder length hair...after 2 weeks I went back to my hair stylist bleach color and cut...when I was finished I was like wtf did I do..whyyyy..I think I'm between 1-3 stage...tomorrow will make one week since I did this...lol

I feel like I'm going through all the stages in a cycle right now 😏 I big chopped last Wednesday ...after allowing my cousin to do a photo shoot the Tuesday. I'm waking up from dreams with my hair being mid-back length to see in the mirror not even 3 inches. I'm still hung up on the 3 inches that I told the barber to leave all over my head...he didn't listen so my plan for braids isn't possible for a few months *sigh*
I don't regret it though. Health over length.
