I had heard and saw while riding the MTS Trolley previously that there had been some updates to criossings in Downtown and Mission Hills, so today I came out to film some NCTD and Amtrak trains. My first catch was this northbound NCTD Coaster here at West Washington Street #1. I knew that BNSF had had their gateless signal knocked down by a truck and BNSF installed a new 2020s install signal but reused the previous Harmon Fading LEDs while adding a back side pair to the signal and a GS Type 3. The base was also replaced as it is still WCH but is newer looking. On MTS's side they added a backside pair of GE Dotted/Pixelated LEDs to their gateless signal. I believe now every crossing in San Diego is getting double sided lights on dateless signals meaning Noell St, W Palm St, W Laurel St, W Hawthorn St, W Grape St, W Cedar St, W Ash St and possibly W Beech Street as well. The double sided lights on W Cedar St could lead to a rebuild removing the unusual signal formation.
North County Transit District Coaster Passenger Train passes through the #1 West Washington Street Railroad Crossing headed northbound to Oceanside on the BNSF San Diego Subdivision main line in San Diego, California. This crossing is a mixed install with the BNSF gated signal being a BNSF 2000s install replacing a Safetran 1980s cantilever signal with Safetran Incandescent Lights and a Safetran Mechanical Bell. The gateless signal is a BNSF early 2020s install with its front side lights being reused from the previous signal being a knock down replacement. The MTS signals are MTS early 2000s install with changes to lights being added, gates and gate lights not being original to the signals.
