Hi! These videos are soo soo helpful, however my camera does not have all these tabs and menus! Does this depend on the year it was made?
Super helpful video but I found a quirk others may run into. Here’s a fix.
I’m not sure how many people are viewing these so many years later, but I just walked through them as I wanted a refresh on my 60D. (These were amazingly helpful, I watched ALL the tutorials over this week so thank you for keeping them online.)
I discovered that despite turning ISO expansion “on” in custom function menu 1, sub option 3, getting to ISO 12800 was still grayed out. I discovered that you need to go to custom function menu 2, sub option 3 (highlight tone priority) and change it to “0:disable.”
Once I did this, I was able to get to ISO 12,800.
Good tip for people. Never ran in to that myself as I always have highlight tone priority turned off on my cameras.
Thank you.
i have an 60D, but is there any way you could do a Review of 5D MKI 12.8mp
i am looking to purchase that camera, simply because i would like to try full frame at a low cost, i learned on film, miss the 35mm frame, thanks a lot.
Thank you for the very informative video! So I went out and shot with double exposure to get used to it. It did, as planned, take an under exposed image, normal exposed image, and over exposed image. I now have three images I don't really want, I want the final combined exposures image. Is there a way in camera to combine the image so I have one final HDR image? I use the 60D, also. Thank you!!
Hi Andrew.
As far as I remember the 60D doesn't have an in camera HDR mode which means you would need to combine the images in post production using Photoshop or other software.
Rick
I also have a 60D. I set the settings in the menu like described in the video but I don't see where to set the camera to actually take the bracket shots (the 3 continued shots in a row)
Disregard, I just learned how to do it by watching your Shooting Menus 2 & 3 video! Thank you so much! Its amazing how much I'm still learning about this camera and I had it for 4yrs now. Thank you again!
Sir Alexander Dear Sir, I’ve had this camera for around 8 years (?) & I’m still learning stuff!
Like tonight, I only just learned that there were Firmware updates available way beyond my OS.
Nothing spectacular (was hoping for multiple exposure functionality) but there was an issue with the serial number within data translation, so could be an important element in, say a copyright dispute, either way, always stuff to learn. ✌️
Do the custom functions work for video shootings too or are they only for taking pictures? For example the noise reduction setting.
They only apply to still shooting. All the customisation for Video mode is in the video / live view menu. You can apply picture styles to the video though. And you could always use the C1 or C2 on the mode dial to have them set for video settings to save time. A few of the custom function affect both video and stills but that's only exposure increments really.
***** So only the exposure settings in the Custon Functions menu will affect the video shooting?
DevilKiller100 Yup. The newer cameras have more features for video I believe (never looked at them myself). 60D is a good video camera.. mine maybecome a video only camera as I don't shoot it for stills allot these days (all depends if I come back to making videos)., The main things you can change are PAL or NTSC. video resolution and of course exposure settings. The biggest change can be gained by building a custom picture styles profile using canons software (Picture Style Editor) that come with the camera.. it flattens out the files and allows them to be pushed further in post production.
Its a learning curve for me... not a huge video fan (more a stills guy) but am starting to mess more with it.
ISO expansion does not changing in my device
