On reproduction: when Danny had her miscarraige, she was told that her baby was mishappen. That it looked like a bat. It's never brought up again, but I'vve never shaken the implication that humans could give birth to dragons
The weird monstrous babies happen to a handful of Targaryens in the books. Daemon Targaryen and his wife Laena had one, Daemon Targaryen and Rhanera Targaryen had one and Maegor Targaryen had a couple as well. Babies with scaled skin, leathery wings, stubbed tails, both male and female sex organs, etc.
My theory is that the misshaped baby was due to lingering negative side effects of the blood magic used to create the dragons. There's room left in the explanation of GRRM to theorize they used possibly the less valued of their kin folk as the blood binder to create dragons from wyverns and worm creatures. That seems like a good enough reason for a blood curse for the strength of dragons
GRRM didn't want to put dragons in his stories because of them not occurring in nature. But The Night King, Children of the Forest, 3 Eyed Ravens and White Walkers are all naturalistic examples of things that occurre in the real world. That checks out.
There was one girl who managed to bond with the wild dragon Sheep-stealer earning his trust by feeding him sheep every morning. One day he bowed his head and allowed her to ride him. So maybe the Valyrians bond with dragons through sorcery but they are still thinking beings that can bond with anyone just not as easily.
Or maybe it has to do with a blood bond as a quote from my book from Serin firebane " not any human can tame us, but if the blood sing in tune with ours then why not let them sing in a duet" basic saying that a dragon and a rider are fated to be at each other's side, what I would find funny and interesting is that cannibal was suppose to be the mad kings dragon
The elder race speculated to teach the valyrians how to tame dragons came from the shadow beyond ashaai, not ashaai. They’re two separate places, although people commonly believe they are the same place
No one would be able to ride a dragon without a saddle and a harness. It's incredibly difficult to ride a horse when it's running, let alone a dragon flying
@@thalmoragent9344 I would say she is a better rider than her family in my opinion. Especially after Drogon got hit with the scorpion by Bronn and Drogon did a little flip in the air after getting hit and Dany still held on without any saddle.
I'm not sure I'm correct on this but in Fire and Blood it implies it takes around 15 years for a dragon to grow large enough to be ridden, but Drogon appeared to be fully grown and fit to be ridden in a significantly shorter period. So, in theory, could Drogon grow possibly larger than his predecessors? If so, how much bigger?
Really late, but there are several theories explaining why Dany’s dragons grew so much faster than the post-Conquest dragons. 1. Dragons are said to need wide open spaces to grow truly large. So long as dragons aren’t kept in confinement, they can keep growing for their entire lifespan, which is why Balerion and Vhagar were so massive. All other dragons born after them were kept in the Dragonpit or in caverns at Dragonstone, so they could never rival the sizes of the conquerors’ dragons. 2. It’s implied that the Maesters had been secretly poisoning the dragons and their eggs, or otherwise doing something to stunt their growth after the conquest. I faintly remember reading somewhere that House Hightower was suspected to have a secret motivation to starting the Dance: to destroy the dragons so they can force the Targaryens out of power. In the main series, Marwyn the Mage hints to Sam that the maesters were the ones to kill off the dragons, as well as destroy most magic, the last time. 3. Diet. Like any creature, dragons need food aplenty to grow strong. The Targaryens would have limited the amount of the food the dragons could have to make sure they didn’t outgrow the confines of the Dragonpit, or become too feral and bloodthirsty to control. There is also the fact that Dany’s dragons have been known to occasionally eat people, something few dragons would have been able to do between Maegor’s reign of terror and the Dance. So human blood may help dragons grow faster than that of animals. 4. Magic. With the near extinction of the dragons, magic began to fade from the world, as many forms of magic became weaker and borderline nonexistent by the start of the main series. Dany’s hatching of dragons created a powerful resurgence of magical energy in the world that allowed the glass candles to be lit and Melisandre’s shadow binding to become more powerful. It’s likely the dragons are being strengthened due to being conduits of a new wave of magic. Though for my part, I have a theory that it’s not the dragons themselves that are rekindling magic, but the presence of the Red Comet in Planetos’ orbit.

The he must have "borrowed " a lot of the design from Vermatrax Perjorative; the dragon in the movie "Dragonslayer" He , Mr. Martin has said the this is one of his 'favorite' dragons.
G.R.R. Martin forgot that there is a difference between Eastern and Western Dragons, As you seem to have as well. Eastern Dragons have a more serpentine body with with 4 legs, Western (European) Dragons have two forms, 1: 4 legs and 2 wings, and 2: hind legs and forelimbs are wings, Then there is the Wyverns which can be interchanged for the second version of dragon and up till the HP movies and G.R.R.M's of Dragons have almost always been called Wyverns after the Middle ages. Then there are the Dragons of other places in the world. some look more like Serpents. Some even being called as such. The Feathered Serpent of South and Central America, the Horned Serpent or North America, and the Rainbow Serpent of Australia as well as those of the Mediterranean and Africa. Don't forget there are two different forms of Eastern Dragons (I don't mean Chinese and Japanese), being the 4 clawed and 5 clawed forms. But what G.R.R.M is basing his dragons off of is the Pre-Middle Age and Wyvern which both are mostly seen as one and the same and not actual dragons. And if you look at the actual depiction of the "Dragons" on the old Welsh and British flags they have Beaks and arrow ended (or stinger tipped) tails. These are both defining features of Wyverns and NOT dragons but are in fact Wyverns. This is where the confusion of two legged and two winged Dragons steam from and where popular culture gets dragons wrong. There are only two distinc forms of dragons the Eastern and Western, the others are Serpents and NOt dragons and Wyverns, also NOT dragons.
Holy shit this. I get a little irritated when people keep putting their heads in the sand and being absolutely certain that 2wings2legs = wyvern when dragonic lore is far more complex then the D&D definition, where this whole 'what is a dragon' argument comes from. And people making these arguments don't even realize it because they don't even bother to look up sources.
Keeping it real was kind of silly since he has Undead ice zombies..... And we actually did have a wings reptile with six limbs in the fossil record. It was his stupid argument for why you couldn't have a six limbed dragon.
Wyverns are dragons. They are a certain breed of dragon like coatyls, amphipteres, wyrms, and drakes. Claiming that the only true dragon is a four legged, two winged European style dragon is simply incorrect as every culture around the world has a dragon or dragon like creature in their mythology and each is different and unique in its design either physically or in some other way. A dragon can be whatever an author or film maker chooses to make it. There is no proper or specific definition for a dragon.
I would have though no matter how large they grow, as they're always in proportion, a dragon will always be able to fly. Crossing to info from the Pern books, a dragons wingspan should be half-again it's length, I believe.
The problem is that mass does not increase proportionally to the wing-surface and length, but to the power of 3. That is why there are limits to the size of flying things, as the wings would have get proportionally bigger with increasing size.
Regardless of whether the biological sex of a dragon in the GOT world is fixed from conception or can change due to circumstances, they definitely use sexual reproduction. If they used asexual reproduction, the offspring would be identical in physical appearance to the parent.
11:24 Another way to kill a dragon like that is blinding it because like plane Without visual sight the entire creature is blind and unable to see and like a plane it cant fly
The three headed dragon isnt actually a three headed dragon, its the first three Targaryen dragons stood together, hence why it also has four legs not two
Man if dc would understand that this could be adapted into their universe using the magic that separates the world to also cloak them then it would be insane
well, proper dragons are giant snakes that is how dragons were in all cultures around the world, that is why Tolkien refers to them as snakes as well. the thing is that the medieval Welsh Dragon is the odd one out, because is a chimera formed by the Ancient Greek Dragon, a giant snake, with another chimera, the Griffin of the Ancient pre-Muslim Eastern Mediterranean & Central Asia. If you check in medieval representation of Dragons, a lot of them are winged snakes, those would be wyrms in Fantasy lore, no even wyverns.
I know exactly how dragons reproduce.... they are born from the heads of story tellers! How fo they breathe fire? Well, they NEVER brush their teeth! Can you imagine their "DRAGON BREATH"?
All wyvern are dragons but not all dragons are wyvern The other funny thing you mention is smaug Is a wyvern well atleast in the hobbie movie, he's still dragon as I mentioned
Afaics, Tolkein's 'Smaug', at least as portrayed in Jackson's Hobbit films, is virtually a double of Martin's conceptualisation of the Targaryen dragons...right down to both being sentient. Though I'm not suggesting either creation directly inspired the other. Although the one real distinction is Smaug's ability to communicate in a classic British accent.. and that at least does seem to be modelled on an earlier non-human villain. Shere Khan; superbly voiced by George Sanders in Disney's animated classic take on Kipling's "Jungle Book" Maybe Balerion and his pals can only speak in High Valyrian? Or being cursed with obviously phony Irish brogues left over along with some surplus 'Harfoot' extras from Amazon Prime's abysmal "The Rings Of Power" Season 1, they quite understandably prefer not to talk at all.😁
Dude, Smaug was written long, long before the Martin books. I’m not even sure GRRM had been born yet. 😂 Use the timeline to help not to confuse yourself.

So basically magic ,blood and human beasts breeding. I mean it's common in literature for years I mean centuries. Let's just twist a little words here and there like the Greek story of the Minotaur LOL
So in the case of the dragon died before his rider, like King Viserys & Balerion, can the human rider bond with a new dragon? Spoiler...... . Not so certain, but didn't that after Syrax died, Rhaneyra thought about getting a new dragon?
Yep, and after Sunfyre died, Aegon was considering a new egg or bonding with an older dragon. Viserys was just never into dragons,he only claimed Balerion because it was expected for him to take a dragon. Once Balerion died it was like, "well that's that then."
According to all known laws of aviation, there is no way a dragon should be able to fly. It's wings are too small to get its fat body off the ground. The dragon, of course, flies anyway, because dragons don't care what humans think is impossible.
GRRM couldn't imagine how "unrealistic" dragons could exist in his magical fantasy world, where wildfire exists, and white walkers / night king exists, bringing people back from the dead exists, etc. To put it simply, GRRM doesn't have much imagination beyond the minimum necessary to write passe' fantasy novels. There have been many treatises and treatments written over the years, and I have no issues whatsoever coming up with dozens of races/species of draconids in the fantasy worlds and games I've created over the years. All it takes is a little imagination, and a little practical thinking.

European Dragon legends DO NOT come from Africa... African dragons are completely different that European dragons (they are serpent like, do not fly and have no fire as the ones in Europe do. African Dragons are typically associated with gods, while European Dragons are just wild beasts) and they are younger historically than European dragon stories. So more likely, African stories may come from Eurasia rather than the opposite. The he must have "borrowed " a lot of the design from Vermatrax Perjorative; the dragon in the movie "Dragonslayer" He , Mr. Martin has said the this is one of his 'favorite' dragons.
Caraxys isn't exactly a perfect example, he's a deformity
Why does the pic of the mage put me in the mind of Elminster of Shadowdale? 🤣🤣
Loved this sm
I bet Butters and Scott enjoying the show now.
Great video thank you 😅
Subbed.
Amazing video!
We do get to see how dragons reproduce during Episode 4 😉
I want a dragon.
Keeping it real was kind of silly since he has Undead ice zombies.....
And we actually did have a wings reptile with six limbs in the fossil record. It was his stupid argument for why you couldn't have a six limbed dragon.
What's the 6th limbed winged reptile called?
@@obiwahndagobah9543 yeah and muscles in the chest and back would have to be massive to support flying.
Regardless of whether the biological sex of a dragon in the GOT world is fixed from conception or can change due to circumstances, they definitely use sexual reproduction. If they used asexual reproduction, the offspring would be identical in physical appearance to the parent.
does babble have high valeryian?
Nice video
Sharks are a good example of space and food making them bigger js. If you put a baby shark in a small tank it will only grow big enough for the tank.
That's been proved false on meny occasions. You can keep sharks in a fish tank lol
Will we see Dragons laying eggs in the series?
Balerion got so big from playing on a low level server😂
Shall We!
Great info, the bible does talk about 3headed dragon too,.Fun facts. I think evil its what its in the end of time. My opinion 🤷♀️✌🥴🙃🐲
I was stationed at Osama AB which is located in South Korea
I wonder what determines dragons sex and I also wonder if they shed their scales at all
11:24
Another way to kill a dragon like that is blinding it because like plane
Without visual sight the entire creature is blind and unable to see and like a plane it cant fly
"How do Dragons Reproduce?"
Up the tail, and plugged in? :|
When they are being ridden in battle. How do the dragons know when to shoot fire at the enemies?
Because the riders tell them
ONE ship for a DRAGON EGG. dude there's a tiny nuke in here, I'm gonna need more than one ship to be a *fair* trade lol
so,,, three heads has the dragon? wyrm, wyvern and valerian?
The three headed dragon isnt actually a three headed dragon, its the first three Targaryen dragons stood together, hence why it also has four legs not two
Nice
Man if dc would understand that this could be adapted into their universe using the magic that separates the world to also cloak them then it would be insane
So if dragon extinct , you can make again between worm and wyvern
well, proper dragons are giant snakes that is how dragons were in all cultures around the world, that is why Tolkien refers to them as snakes as well.
the thing is that the medieval Welsh Dragon is the odd one out, because is a chimera formed by the Ancient Greek Dragon, a giant snake, with another chimera, the Griffin of the Ancient pre-Muslim Eastern Mediterranean & Central Asia.
Netflix & chill
All wyvern are dragons but not all dragons are wyvern
The other funny thing you mention is smaug
Is a wyvern well atleast in the hobbie movie, he's still dragon as I mentioned
They are wyverns not dragons. Dragons have human like intelligence and for legs separated from their wings.
Shere Khan; superbly voiced by George Sanders in Disney's animated classic take on Kipling's "Jungle Book"
Maybe Balerion and his pals can only speak in High Valyrian? Or being cursed with obviously phony Irish brogues left over along with some surplus 'Harfoot' extras from Amazon Prime's abysmal "The Rings Of Power" Season 1, they quite understandably prefer not to talk at all.😁
Dude, Smaug was written long, long before the Martin books. I’m not even sure GRRM had been born yet.
😂
Use the timeline to help not to confuse yourself.
@@namedrop721 So what's your very probably irrelevant point? Try reading my comment before replying so as to de-confuse yourself b.t.w..... ..er? ...'sonny'.
Ok, what breed of dragon is Vhagar?
What about Dragonlance??
Very carefully.
what about a dragon human hybrid
I disagree. Drogon is definitely more of a wolf's head type not a dinosaur type.
Outside of GoT the older a dragon is the more powerful they become. Until they plateau towards the twilight of their death.
How would G.R.R. Martin know about the "realism" of "magic"? Is he a student of Aleister Crowley? lol
So basically magic ,blood and human beasts breeding. I mean it's common in literature for years I mean centuries. Let's just twist a little words here and there like the Greek story of the Minotaur LOL
Didn't the original dragons exist in Asshai.
What about Canibal?
Are dragon in gOT Wyvern cuz they only have 2 legs not 4 legs
So in the case of the dragon died before his rider, like King Viserys & Balerion, can the human rider bond with a new dragon?
Spoiler......
.
Not so certain, but didn't that after Syrax died, Rhaneyra thought about getting a new dragon?
Yep, and after Sunfyre died, Aegon was considering a new egg or bonding with an older dragon.
Viserys was just never into dragons,he only claimed Balerion because it was expected for him to take a dragon. Once Balerion died it was like, "well that's that then."
Oh god. One of those "wYvErNs ArEnT dRaGoNs" guys
Nobody knows, never made another one.
Ok here’s a question, do they have to bathe the Dragons? And who gets that job? 🤣🤣🤣
well.....they got the design wrong, you need muuuuuch larger wings to rise that weight from the ground up
According to all known laws of aviation, there is no way a dragon should be able to fly. It's wings are too small to get its fat body off the ground. The dragon, of course, flies anyway, because dragons don't care what humans think is impossible.
@@stuffynosepatrol thats what I said lol
@@royalecrafts6252 that was the opening to the bee movie 👀
@@stuffynosepatrol facts say that to the bees & wasps 😂 those f*ckers be too angry to stay still an will fly cuz they want to
@@jayclearmen411 exactly, same with dragons. Wasps are just dragons with short-person rage.
I don't think their bones are "literally" steel.
12:24
You milked it for 6 mins and then started the video
What would be super cool is Drogon returns and let’s John Snow ride him and dragons return after centuries of hiding
It's amazing. Everything you've said is wrong.
This dragon design is not actually original. Look up an old movie about a wizard’s apprentice. Wish I could remember the movie title.
Anyone who how they dragons were killed but he volcanos in Valarya of fire can’t kill a dragon?
it could be a thing where fire couldn't destroy the ring, but Mt doom could? only the fires where dragons were birthed could destroy them maybe?
They get on top of each other, reproduction 101
Maybe hercules just killed 9 or seven decent sized snakes great big lie bet he was lifting breeze blocks aswell
Then why did drogan bended to Jon snow
They look like worms with wings.
In other words he copied Edinburgh. A castle built on a dead volcano but on their end the volcano erupted killing the people. Edinburgh Castle the Scottish Castle where our kings and Queens of Old. Last one Mary Queen of Scots God bless her souls and may she be a peace. Us Scots are fierce warriors always have been since the celts the Scot’s, Irish, Welsh, Manx. Cornish, Britons and a few more. We are a people that had to have walls built to stop us from attacking Rome. Rome never conquered us. They didn’t have the balls to. Lol 😂
Drogon is the greatest dragon ever! Not Smaug! 🔥

There's only female dragons and male! 'Otherwise if that was the case that Dragons Could change sex! Why! Didn't Daeneryses Dragons change sex to save there Species?? 🤔 As in game of thrones they where the last 3 so why didn't one of those dragons change sex??? So I don't believe this
Sad that African Dragon legends are so forgotten 😭 even when European dragons are said to hail from Africa… the rainbow wyrms of Africa 🤧
The earliest mention of dragons is from Asia, then moving to Europe and from there to North Africa and the rest of Africa, so dont say NONESENSE and spread misinformation that touches nationalistic views of the world.
@@Alejojojo6 I NEVER said they did European dragons are their own beast BUT they were theorized to originate from a certain far off continent lol, reading comprehension please.
@@Alejojojo6 You went on a whole rant about something I didnt even say, cope.
Not dragons, they are Wyverns.
That's like saying it's not a reptile, it's a lizard. Wyverns are a TYPE of dragon. All wyverns are dragons but not all dragons are wyverns. Don't take my word for it read a fucking book.
You honestly think you know more than George?
I DO know more biology than George but he's right on the money. of all animals that have EVER lived on land or in sky, ALL have had 4 limbs (except snakes which do have four vestigial limbs). All birds mammals. e reptiles have four limbs
