Easiest thing to do is just take 42-26 and get 16. Then you do the a12-a8 which is a4. 16/4 = 4. Therefore d = 4 and then you just plug the d in for the equation to find the a1 or whatever you need. This works for every single equation about finding the d.
@@ivylalka6140 I think that your problem didn't work for phantoms way of solving it because you were given the wrong answer. Because if you multiply 4 by 5 because A1 to A5 is 5 spots and you are supposed to subtract 1 so 4 times 5 ,which is the answer you said you were given, you get 20. And that doesn't make sense because 145-20=125 not 113 also by subtracting 5 from 145 you can never get 113, no matter how many times you subtract it. In conclusion, you were given the wrong solution. Ps: I am only writing this to study for a test I have, and this is practice for me
Is there a formula to get the 'a sub 1' without having to minus it all backwards? I have a problem and the "d" is already given, but there is no first term.. I'm a grade 10 junior highschool student
bro i had the hardest time trying to figure this out. My tutor did not know how to do this. In 4 minutes this guy made me completely grasp and learn the concept. I don't usually write comments but shit this guy deserves one.
This whole time I thought I was just too dumb for precal, turns out it was just the way my teacher was explaining it, thanks man it helped me a lot. :)
This really saved my day because our teacher doesn't explain this well and this teacher just made me understand just in 5 minutes. Thank you and I subscribed to your channel.
Thank you so much!! Your honestly the best teacher. My teacher just straight up gives us the formula and makes us figure out the problem by ourselves. Thank you so much 🙏🙏 you saved me from flunking my algebra exam 🙏
I can always count on you Brian to teach me something that's on my homework but not in the notes. you would think my teacher that actually gets paid to teach me would actually have a problem or even a formula in the notes but nah that's too much work.
Well you will need this if we have kids and you might need to help them when they get the same homework with useless information that we did as a kid. But other then that I can't think of another reason.
before replacing n with 4, I understand that you did 5-1. But from 8 - 12, isn't that 4? so shouldn't it be 4-1=3? or are you including the 8 when counting? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!
I just subbed in the numbers into the formula so d=4 and then I used the 8th term so An=26 and n=8 and just completed the equation. Idk if that helps I am bad at explaining. P.S I know this is pretty late but thought I’d chime in
I'm facing difficult question now. if sum of the first seven term is given and 4th term is double the 2th term. Find the common difference and first term
arithmetic sequences are just linear equations. Just treat it like two coordinate points. Find the slope and use y=mx+b. Its nothing more than a linear equation.
This man explained more in 4 minutes than my teacher did in two weeks
facts why are is my teacher so bad at explaining math

It doesn’t work with mine
A1= 145. A5= 113
145-113= 32
5-1=4
32/4= 8
The answer is supposed to be 5

i'll just say. He is the very first person i look up when i need help. thank you for your short meaningful and understandable videos Sir!
This vid just made finding the common difference so easy! It is much simpler to understand than what my math teacher is saying. Thanks a lot!!

what if the given is a894 and a1009? how do i find a1 without having a manual subtracting?
That's what I need to know also. Do you have a way?
i do have a way
I was on the verge of exploding, because my Math module didn't explain how to solve for stuff like this, THANK YOU
how did he get 4d pls answer

Hi there sir. Is is possible to work out 3 terms of arithmetic sequence given only 1 term and the sum of the first 12 terms.
I wanna know how to fins the a1 if the S is given
How did you find n I don't understand
THANK YOU SIRR
sorry to interrupt the class but may I use the restroom ?
Will this work for a geometric sequence as well?
yes but you have to use the formula for a geometric sequence

How did he get 5 as n again?
@@johnmichaelgalapin4849 That keeps me wondering too
He said he count from 8-12

But what if you are only provided with 1 term, what do you do then?
Thank you so much i knew there was another easier way to solve this what a stupid method we have in the book
Happy to help
why is n five??
I would die to get him to be my teacher
im still confused on why n is 5
Yeaah
If you count from 8 to 12 which is the given in A it should be 5 but then n-1 so it will be 4
