man oh man, impressive! just climbed my queen palms for the first time. de spurred close to the bottom and slide down quite a way. Thanks for the great video!
Thanks for the video. I trim in Minnesota full time but 3 or 4 times a year I need to trim my buddies queen palms in Alpine. They sucked so hard until you showed me that i can spike and cut close to the tree. Thanks bud
Good Job, and I know those chainsaws are not light, my queen palms are a lot thicker, but 1/2 the height, my palm tree book says that Queen palms can get to 90 ft tall. you make it look easy!
Do you guys treat the South American palm weevil on the Phoenix Canariensis? Is there a way for a homeowner to do it also? I have been telling everybody to do something fast but no one seems to listen or want to throw down the cash to treat them. This is horrible. Thank you.
good job. i climb coconut tree and swing from tree to tree by having a ground guy pull the tail end of my rope over to another tree. but i like your technique. i work most job by myself so what you did is smart.
I've been climbing and trimming my queens for the last couple of years - based on your experience do you think it's safe to ascend a rope that is draped over a single, healthy frond? I usually try and shoot the rope over two, but sometimes I can only get one due to the position of the palms. The rope is pulled down low to the base of the frond and it doesn't seem to put any stress on the "anchor" but just wondering if you've ever seen one come ripping off a tree from body weight? Thanks.
Jason Kim No! One frond is not safe. Your climbing line should really go through the head. A buddy of mine fell from a washintonia because he was around only two fronds.
You sure put a lot of faith in those ropes man! Very scary job. Two things occur to me- have you ever cut through your own rope? And do you charge for the danger factor? I would.
You mad bastard.........long way down buddy.......fuck that you're on ya own there.......i Wouldn't even contemplate climbing one of those much less swinging from one to the other, as much as i love palms
Why did you trim around the branch that looks like grapes and then eventually sever it? It's a good handle? Why did you shave some of the grapes off the bunch at 02:40 ? To warn pedestrians?
@@fastguysslowbikes yeaa i agree with you but i think a big problem is that they use spikes to prune them...and the customer always want a clean tree... They didn't understand nature
so is it common practice to spike a palm tree when you just pruning them? I know when I prune a tree up here in the northeast we dont use spikes because it opens the tree up to insects and disease? Just curious
If you read any of the current arborist books it tells you that spiking live trees that you are not intending to cut down is a bad option and should only be done in a last resort, first choice is to launch a throw ball up into the tree canopy and run a line in it so you can climb the tree with the line not spikes, but if it is necessary to get into a tree and you can not get a life line then as a last option you can spike it, but it is not a healthy choice to do so. Read the current books, and they teach you that in any arborist school. Thats all I was trying to say is its not healthy for the tree if you are not planning to cut it down
arborist there selling you books and gear to climb trees and that stuff is not cheap so they have to talk bad about spiking the trees to sell there gear. my friends tree got killed by a bug and hes tree had never been spiked.spiking is just cosmetic not a good look on some trees .
i live in South Florida and these are common trees here. i am a licenced arborists in the county i live in. If the queen is in the front yard we use the bucket truck but if its in the backyard and must be climbed, throwing a line threw the palms and using a Blake's hitch is the most common method, but ivealso seen a bunch of spikeless methods used
You don't spur leave trees or prune with spurs period...not only does it invite bugs but makes you and your work look like shit...those trees look awful from spur damage...

no reason to spike these trunks unless your ignorant or lazy.

cool method of getting to the other palm.
nice vid!
stay safe
Thank you😀

Any man who does this can’t be single 😍

I'm afraid of heights but good job Tarzan
Different but cool. Here in hawaii we use Swiss bands to climb and machetes to trim.
Yea man im a swiss arborist
Can you do a how to video and detailed description of the equipment you use to swing over to other trees! That was phenomenal bud
Will do!
quick question, on average, how many times does it usually take you to throw that hook to the next palm successfully?
Like 2 or 3
Grest job bro
Where do you buy the ninja hook
To go to another palm tree its really good
Be safe and keep up the good videos
How can I get faster by cleaning them up and trim them as well don't know why I can't get more done then others ?

Never !! one frond is a bad idea! There are ways to avoid all the fronds. There are many tricks these days!
You sure put a lot of faith in those ropes man! Very scary job. Two things occur to me- have you ever cut through your own rope? And do you charge for the danger factor? I would.
Damn, I was waiting for you to actually jump to the other

He’s agreeable no spikes for trimming
But great climbing skilled
Buen trabajo, que dimensiones tiene el ancla o asuelo que huza para cambiar de palma?
Did you use a Captain Hook? I need to get on of them
Excelente trabajo Compa saludos hasta California

Those seed bracts weigh upwards of 70 lbs. He cut the bottom to reduce the weight.
Damn,Californian palms grow huge. Here in Coastal Croatia where they can grow, queens barely grow to 15 ft,our 9a winters are too much for them.
Do you have to climb back up to get your ropes?
Impressive. Would like to see you do it with a drone camera online too.

Thanks for the content.
Keep up the good work.

The trees wouldn't look so yellow and anemic if you didn't overprune them.
Money is the name of the game
@@neingambit5244 how do you think you'll make more? Trimming them every year for your whole life, or killing them and taking them out in a few years?

Shane Aubuchon its the same here in South Florida you can't spike unless its a removal
if spiking trees opened them up to insects and disease there would be no trees left....

Do you work by yourself sometimes?
Very awesome video, waiting to see more from this channel
Thank you I'll be posting more videos soon
That’s awesome!
Wow! What do people pay to trim trees that tall? My community has about 150 palm trees, they climb some of them but use a man basket for most.
great work,
stay safe
Thank you
Graciad por compartir tus experiencias un trabajo con un alto riesgo.
Omg your hired
Surgical with that saw💯💯💯💯💯💯💯
Ya'll should Seal up those spike holes. The trees would look healthier and be better for it. That's property damage.
How
SWEET...... what else is there to say........? 28 year arborist here.... and I say sweet but dangerous !
Cool video. Annoying music.
I get vertigo just watching this stuff.
I didn't know queen palm can grows that tall. I'd better chop mine one down...
I have one just passing twenty five feet just did my last ladder trim and bought the climbing gear
@@denningmp37 what did you get?
nice one...thumbs up...subscribed...
thank you.
Shame on you for using spikes. If you were an arborist you would know palm trees dont have the ability to heal the trunk damage they cause.
2020. Amazing
Nice
There is a way to climb these WITHOUT spike you know?...Either way - Thats HARD WORK!
that's really tall from a queen palm. not too many that size there usually pretty small.
Yea it was one of the tallest I have done i have always done smaller ones
I assume his blue line is hooked on a crane.
Yes, it is hooked to a Whooping Crane....
