In TribeXR, I’ve been able to use the virtual equivalent of thousands of dollars’ worth of Pioneer DJ gear that I wouldn’t have easily had the chance to experience otherwise. Highly recommended! I look forward to giving this one a try as well especially due to the hand tracking. However the ability to share the experience with others is a crucial element. Definitely one to follow! :)

I personally want to control both the music and have a high degree of interactive influence over the visuals as well.
Great review Phil, and very exciting gear. I can't help but think this is a little weird when performing in front of crowds, but for livestreaming DJ sets it's brilliant. There's also the Tribe XR CDJ emulation which is a great way for anyone on a budget to hone their "club standard" skills at home. I love the idea of hybrid mode. If Tribe XR do somthing like that it would be great, because people could for example buy the hardware mixer and use virtual decks, then maybe add a real deck later when they can afford it, and so on. It's exciting times to be around.
Some interesting ideas so it will be good to see what the tribe crew come up with next because I think that system has not really changed much for awhile
For us they've "got it right" for this platform, for the mainstream, in a way that Tribe XR - forward-looking and excellent in its own right that it was - didn't quite manage.
Yes and no. Tribe maintains a license with Pioneer and it emulates real club gear. I literally learned Pioneer CDJs and DJMs with Tribe. Algoriddim is going the other way, taking advantage of the VR platform with larger virtual controls. Algoriddim looks like it has better ergonomics for VR controls whereas Tribe will prepare you play in the real world.
I'm very interested in streaming with this. You recorded clips from the headset so this means using a capture card will work. Along with a real controller for audio, we are golden. Using In Ear Monitors with the headset should do the trick for cue needs. We still have the absence of the chat window, but it sounds like that may be sorted out soon. Yoo, I work with Meta and other big tech including Roblox. I also happened to just get into DJing. I do a lot of mixed reality projects. Ah yeah you can probably see my grin!
One additional cool thing with VR is going clubbing e.g. in VRChat. Then there are real people in the (virtual) club. Still even then I would prefer to play with normal equipment and stream this in the virtual club. But it is a cool thing if people want to start DJing. I would also recommend getting the normal Quest3 and not the Quest3s. Quest3 has better lenses and also features a 3.5mm headphone output which will result in much better sound quality. But VR is in general really great and I'm confused how this is not raising at it should be. It is not only single player gaming it is more the multiplayer things where you can meet friends like they are in same room even if they are living far away. Recommendation would be a very good minigolf game called Walkabout Minigolf... playing this with friends like 90% of the time using VR 🤣
@digitaldjtips nah, thanks. I've been using it for a couple of years now. It's awesome for parties and things where I don't have my proper decks. Just turn up with my headset and cast to the TV sound system. Amazing, tbf
Interesting idea but I am not convinced it's responsive enough. I sold my quest 3 as I was getting eye strain from it and the battery wouldn't really last long if it's having to do all that.
If you could build guest avatars and have AI “program” their musical preferences and you could simulate live DJing to maybe test out transitions or playlists that would be awesome
There are so many people hating on this just to hate I want to learn to dj. I feel like this is okay to get my feet wet without having to spend more than $20
@digitaldjtips Remember when controllers were seen as toys? And you were not a "real dj" unless you learned on vinyl? Still a few of those around but for the most part we have embraced the digital. I think most veteran djs will have a hard time accepting this outright. Eventually though

Technology when used PRUDENTLY, has amazing "MENTAL" 💪rewards. The ability to "DISCONNECT" from the real world to relieve stress, all the while being in a SAFE and familiar musical environment, is priceless😁 Just remember to reconnect to be among the living and most importantly, remain grounded✌ Now as far as using in a LIVE club setting I do have reservations, as that is meant for use to engage with your audience via the lens of your 👀, not a head set.
great - another reason for our kids to isolate more and live in fantasy land. i love tech and all but some if it is not good for the younger generations. for those of us that actually know how to talk and interact with a real human this is a cool escape. Not sure where I stand on this.
Imagine if clubs like Ministry supplied a live stream and you could ‘be the DJ’. Granted the crowd wouldn’t be screaming at the right time, but it would still offer a good vibe for those bedroom DJ’s.

@@digitaldjtips Did you not understand me? or don't you want to understand me?"future technology" was sarcasm
It even seems ridiculous to me to be handling my turntables with these glasses on!
Cool, move along then.
@@Rafal_DnB 🤣💪
How can this be used for TikTok live streaming as a dj
Several ways, but none of them perfect at the moment. We're hoping live streaming gets added very soon, as talked about in the video.
@digitaldjtips thank you
Yoo, I work with Meta and other big tech including Roblox. I also happened to just get into DJing. I do a lot of mixed reality projects. Ah yeah you can probably see my grin!
I be you've got a HUGE grin!
Love this idea, but unfortunately my DDJ-1000 is not supported
No, they've only done 40 devices so many will be missed. You should try it without DJ hardware though - I think that's the main use case frankly.
My son is pretty hooked on Beat Saber, I have to say.
very exciting they hit it out of the park
Yes, it isn't perfect but they did indeed hit it out of the park for a v1.0
Will be fun to do a few streams with this!
Yes, agreed
Are you aware of Pioneer's Tribe vr DJing software?
We are indeed - we speak about it both in this video and in the article. Anything in particular you want to ask?
@digitaldjtips nah, thanks. I've been using it for a couple of years now. It's awesome for parties and things where I don't have my proper decks. Just turn up with my headset and cast to the TV sound system. Amazing, tbf
Interesting idea but I am not convinced it's responsive enough. I sold my quest 3 as I was getting eye strain from it and the battery wouldn't really last long if it's having to do all that.
It's definitely responsive enough, but you're right, the VR experience is not for everyone.
If you could build guest avatars and have AI “program” their musical preferences and you could simulate live DJing to maybe test out transitions or playlists that would be awesome
What a great idea that is
Dance audience can stay at home and dance overthere; just with VR device and connection to internet.
It’s one possibility
There are so many people hating on this just to hate
I want to learn to dj. I feel like this is okay to get my feet wet without having to spend more than $20
Such is the internet - this is great fun. I thoroughly encourage you to have a go.
Ahhh its the software DJing and controller conversation again lol. I think it will go the same way
What do you mean?
@digitaldjtips Remember when controllers were seen as toys? And you were not a "real dj" unless you learned on vinyl? Still a few of those around but for the most part we have embraced the digital. I think most veteran djs will have a hard time accepting this outright. Eventually though
eveybody talking bout this on facebook djs groups and other dj groups i think this will knock tribe out the box seems it being a onetime payment
Two different use cases/market segments
Tribe xr looks 10x better in my opinion! Ive done live streams with my logo in the background and visuals it was nuts
Cool, glad that's working for you.
Nah, I need to be hands-on. Its integral to the psycho-connection of DJing itself. Same with being in a dark and dingy club, soggy carpet and all.
Room for all types…
we need a full balcony beats of phil on the vr
Considering it…
I’m an Apple Music subscriber and noticed it doesn’t pull my playlists from Apple Music, just my local playlists that I’ve created…
Oh, that’s interesting. We’ve not had time to check that yet. We’ll have a look next time we have it all working.
Tribe had been doing this forever.
They have, but it's totally different
@@digitaldjtips tom from tribe here. curious as to how you think it's different? The touch interface? simpler decks? the usb/midi connection to decks (That kind of feedback is genuinely useful for us as we continue to improve Tribe!)
Woot Woot! 🙌🙌🙌
@@tomimpallomeni The hand tracking looks pretty awesome but I seriously doubt that it could handle small controls like buttons, knobs and sliders very well(yet). But being able to pass your hand through a zone like in the video and have it effect something looks pretty neat. Tribe always has me thinking of how other more traditional instruments might work in VR as well.
Love you guys! Dreamed of DJing in VR for 20+ years before TribeXR came along! 🥰🙌🎶
Once it is good enough, we can have DJ battles from home and live stream
Yes, it's pretty close I'd say
For all the introverts out there, the future might just be bright after all! 😆
Yes, exactly. It's interesting that you hear people saying, "I don't want to cut off from the world and this is stupid," not realising that it's not all about them.
Technology when used PRUDENTLY, has amazing "MENTAL" 💪rewards.
The ability to "DISCONNECT" from the real world to relieve stress, all the while being in a SAFE and familiar musical environment, is priceless😁
Just remember to reconnect to be among the living and most importantly, remain grounded✌
Now as far as using in a LIVE club setting I do have reservations, as that is meant for use to engage with your audience via the lens of your 👀, not a head set.
Agree totally
Much appreciate this tutorial and showcase!
Glad this helps you.
great - another reason for our kids to isolate more and live in fantasy land. i love tech and all but some if it is not good for the younger generations. for those of us that actually know how to talk and interact with a real human this is a cool escape. Not sure where I stand on this.
Kids can have the best of everything in my view
I think you’re missing the point of such new gear. Imho it’s the other way around.
Add a silent disco and it’s lame squared.
I wonder what Qbert could do on this
Would be interesting to see!
Can you scratch on the decks? He never actually touched the record.
If this was djay's big news, what a popcorn fart
Can't please everyone!
Awesome! I can play in my PJ's to a fake music festival audience without leaving my house!
You can indeed
Not my thing, but the tech loving people out there will love it I'm sure.👍
It’s definitely not for everyone you’re right
If you say so phil 😂👍
19:51 imagine have a gig with that thing on lol
*watches vid a bit more*
LMAOO IT´S ALREADY IS A THING?!
It is already a thing!
Dope just gimme the stems!
I am sure they'll come, this is a 1.0
Waaat 😮
Oy, watching the VR parts of this video got me dizzy 😵💫
You should try wearing it!
Deilluisions of Grandeur . This isnt going change anything but the bedroom dj, lol
And what is wrong with that?
No DJ will take this seriously until they add the ability to snort virtual cocaine off the table.
Virtual?
It's hilarious that you sell this as the future
We're not selling anything except DJ courses. djtips.co/funding
All of the reviewers so hyped. 🤣
But it is the future of DJ-ing. Why wouldn’t it be?
@Rafal_DnB go right ahead you got it figured out.
He didn’t. You just want attention. Actually he touched on the negatives with honesty.
Cable will hold for 5ms.
Imagine if clubs like Ministry supplied a live stream and you could ‘be the DJ’. Granted the crowd wouldn’t be screaming at the right time, but it would still offer a good vibe for those bedroom DJ’s.
Yes, without doubt it will happen
