- I started late in learning to ride a motorcycle.. yep, 58 years old. It's never too late to learn something new, but there are a few things to consider when purchasing one and learning to ride it. I've had a few different Harley Davidson's and even a Honda Rebel to learn on. Let's talk...and ride!

Be smart and keep on riding. I am 74 and I have been riding since 1967. Currently riding a royal enfield classic 500 in upstate New York.
Nice bike!!
No age limit, I new a 84 year old that was still riding, just depends on you ability and if your able to handle your motorcycle, I will be 60 next month, been riding since I was 4 years old.
😂
I was 55 a few years when I learned how to ride. With all the youngsters grown up, I figured now was my time. Been a fantastic few years so far, and looking forward to riding for many years to come. May have to graduate to a trike eventually, but that'll be fun as hell as well. Never too old to learn to ride.
I just startend last fall. First fell in a U turn and broke 4 ribs. Healed up and got back on this spring. 150 Miles so far and getting my confidence back. Riding Academy this weekend. I’m 63 and my name is Crystal as well.
Hi Crystal. I still am not fun of slow turns especially in gravel…I laid mine down at a ferry entrance in fresh gravel… ugh. I’m so sorry you got hurt. Takes courage to get back on and ride…so happy you did!!! The Riding Academy will help you so much. Have fun … thanks for watching!
Liked your video, I'm 71, riding and loving it when there's no traffic 😂🏍🏍
Same here!
I love watching your videos, your only 5 years older than me me and your drive and energy are off the charts! Here's to many years of riding🙂... I think carma would agree!
Thanks so much for watching! Your comments are so sweet!
I'm same age as you ,ive been riding my 2001 harley roadking for over 20 years now . Your my kind of woman ❤
I’m happy for you. Glad you started on a 250 Rebel. Ride safe
Excellent video! Thanks for sharing your story. I started on a Honda Z50 in 1979 when I was 10. I rode all through high school, then stopped for about 30 years. I’m back riding again and having a blast. What a sweet doggie Karma is! I suppose I’ll just have to subscribe 😎
😂🤣😂Talk about starting out the hard way. 👍👍
I did basically the same at age 10 in 1963, on a Honda 305 Dream. I rode my first Sportster at 21 and at 71 I'm still riding Sportsters. I'll admit that my 04 883 Iron is getting a bit hard on the bones these days. I guess I'm past the age that 2 asprins and a beer will cure what ails ya. I'm in the market for a decent crusier with some personality.
The last clip with you on your Heritage,, a beautiful road to ride😊.
Thank you very much for your information I am thinking about it too
It's never too late.... if one is in good physical condition mentally as well. Old folks should never ride impaird (drunk or high) really no one should. If one can't do a hundred body weight squats or if the mind wonders don't ride. Motorcycle crashes are very unforgiving.
A hundred squats??? I couldn't do that when I was 20 years old!!
@@kathyceresi9600 hit the gym..
Enjoy the ride, but be cautous, careful while riding.
I am 65 years old from India and bought Hero Xpulse 200 4V motorcycle in the year 2022, just for riding out of city to have a glimpse of mother earth and nature, etc., monuments and temples and capture the scenes on my Insta360 X3 camera and put on my UA-cam channel.
You have a lot of interesting things to see and do, that I can only see through your eyes. I’m glad you are putting your experiences on UA-cam. Thank you
Thank you.
Mmm, being so impetuous getting your 1st bike & a Sportster with no bike experience, yikes! But you learned a lot from that, lol. Glad you didn’t have detractors. Great to hear your story.
I haven't ridden since jr. high school and that was on a teeny tiny street and trail bike. I am 2 years out of a divorce and 60 years old. I will be purchasing a Yamaha V Star 250 this Saturday! my class is scheduled for mid June. I already took the written part and passed it so I have a Lerner's Permit. I am terrified but determined! I don't have the best balance and I'm 5'4" and about 230 lbs. I hope I can do this! I also joined my local American Legion Auxiliary group. They have a riding club! I found a couple of local riding clubs in my area.
Oh, I also joined my local American Legion Auxiliary group. They have a ridding club!!
I was terrified at first too… little by little I worked around it. I get more confident every time I go ride. Stopping on hills still makes me nervous. Oh and I hate gravel
Started last year, I'm 57 👍😁
Ride and enjoy.
Awesome video at 62Yo bad knee's i had to give up my Heavy Harley but last Yr got me a lite bike 2023 Royal Enfield Hunter just love it of course No more long tours but i had rode this thing to 4 hr one way country road trips
You can actually strengthen your knees. I did it with osteoarthritis. Strengthen the muscles around the knees.
im 55, i started just last year 😁
I just started riding December 2023. I turned 60 the September before that. Now, I have zero sense of balance due to ear issues so I have a trike (2015 Freewheeler) and I love it. I would like to take a 2 wheeled class just to learn and not worry about possibly dropping an expensive bike.
I’m happy you have a trike.. they are fun!!
When I was young I only wanted to ride motorcycle. I had a 1953 dresser Harley. That was when there was no endorsement for motorcycle. For many years I didn't ride. Then I bought a Honda 250 Rebel and got my endorsement and bought a Harley Dana Super Glide. I dropped it twice. At 81, I don't feel comfortable on the road, so I think it may be time to give it up, on the road at least.
Maybe a scooter… they are fun and no shifting
Good advice.
Glad you think so!
neat!! when i was 20, i was going to buy a Honda 754/4 or a sportster, and then i got orders to go over seas. fast forward to 66 years old, family is pretty much deceased, i bought a motorcycle. i wanted a honda fury, but credit was nil. so i got a honda rebel500. i am 69 now and love my little bike. my question is, what made you go from the sportster to the bigger bike? anyway congrats, be safe and have fun.
I’m so glad you got a motorcycle… Honda makes great bikes. I went on a motorcycle trip to Eureka Springs with a group. I had to stop and put gas in mine so often. My gas tank was half the size of the other riders.
Good afternoon Crystal, I’m 10 years older than you so yes you definitely are a young lady. I wonder if you know my cousin, I think she is recently retired but she was an ER nurse at one of the local hospitals. I always enjoy and look forward to your videos thanks for sharing.
I’ve been at the same hospital for over 30 years.. mostly ICU with a little ER sprinkled in, so I might know her.
I’ll be 40 in January ‘25 and out of nowhere decided I’m going to learn to ride and get a bike. 🤷🏾♂️ if you have all your faculties then you can ride a bike at any age.
Good for you! One day you know you need a motorcycle and you do it!!!!
Congrats. I learned how to ride in my late 40's and thought that was old! but glad you took that step. you give some good advice. I'm in my 60's now and have downsized from a large to smaller bike, because I know I'm not as strong anymore. plan to ride as long as I can. might have to downsize to a 50cc! did they teach you how to pick up a heavy bike if you drop it, so that you don't hurt yourself? be safe.
Not trying to be rude but why do you need strength for a bigger bike? Planning on laying it down? If you are worried about tipping it over, get crash/highway bars.
@@jonathanneville7105 OK even with crash bars try to pick up a 800-1000lbs bike when you 70 or older good luck
There is just no way I could pick it up… I’ve tried. I bought a jack that helps to pick it up
Here's praying that you are never presented with an emergency situation on your motorcycle.
Thank you…
Girl, you had me laughing through most of this video. Don't we all do things that others might wonder about? I started riding when my parents (both educators) said I couldn't. Am I pig headed?
I have pulled a lot of things in my days, but nothing that has hurt anyone...lol. My son once said that I only know a few of the things he was up to. So, yes.. we all do things in life. You just knew that you could, you weren't pig headed. I always had to keep up with my older brothers, they had motorcycles and I was too small.. so, I got a Honda 50.. I was happy with it. I even have a pipe burn scar to prove it...
@@adventureswithcrystal 2 things, age is a number only and #2 you aren't small, you're big in heart.
Been riding since I was 12, I'm now 70 and went to three wheels .... I'm good until I'm 100
The heritage is the best bike Harley makes
All Harleys are best, depends on what the individual likes. Well, not the Livewire.
I love mine… both of them!
