I was thinking that nobody in Romania did a full review of the XSR900, and I was feeling compelled to do one after I pick up mine from the dealership this week. No need anymore now, you covered right about everything here.
And some additions..... you did not try Quickshifter. You would love it even more after that. And even sound is then getting better thanks to auto-blip function. Another point is power to weight ration, my old ZX-9R had 0,5 this has 0,4533 which is very close, but in more comfortable package. Plus gearing is very different as old Ninja had top speed ~280km/hour and XSR has 215 and it means that up to ~150 (let's say highway limit with some tolerance from police) it is a beast where it does matter in todays traffic full of radars and such 😀
Bought it 2 weeks ago, did 1000km in 3 days to make first service. It is SUPERB bike. Way more comfortable then my FJR 1300 (yeah, I know, shocking), Why did I pick it over MT-09? It is easy. You can load 221kg on XSR, but just 166kg on MT-09 (!!!!), light is way better during night then compared to MT-09 which is important safety factor and longer swingarm is good for someone with my height of 193cm plus it makes bike stable, not that stupid rodeo on MT-09 😀
@@puffybodie5282 lol sure but it’s got the older generation quick shifter and the display is a measly 3inches. Dont get me wrong I want the XSR900 too but not when they didn’t give it the goodies the new MT09 has and it cost the same 🤷🏻♂️🤨
@@SWTVENOM Well but even that quickshifter is light years ahead compared to that crap on Honda AT 1100 which I just lately tested. I was shocked how stupid it is on AT side 😀 Yeah, one of the reason I was looking on MT-09 was that display with abitlity to use navigation, but well instead I enjoy the ride and don't give a f... where I go 😀 Have original Yamaha tankbag with tablet poach and there I can put my phone and see navigation plus commands in communicator of course so somewhat ok. XSR can't have goodied of new MT-09 because XSR new version always come later after new MT line.
The criticism of the XSR comes from those that prefer the MT-09. While they do share the same engine, they are tuned differently. The MT09 hits the power band much earlier. And as you mentioned, the XSR is much more 'well behaved.' It's a little more forgiving if you make mistakes, like being in 1st and pulling the throttle a little too quick. I also would agree that a small fairing would soften up that front end and add a bit more style. Something like the Outlaw by Burly Brand.
@@JoeStanek-vu7rl I guess youre correct. though, many people that critique the xsr state precisely the same "feel". As in, the xsr is better behaved. my tuareg has the same engine as a tuono, but is tuned different. same criticism. thhat was the basis of my assumption.
it was quite an interesting ride! Thank you Alex! :) In France we only have the half naked or full fairing version (but France is now an ADV country :D ) I don't like the mirrors but the whole package doesn't look ugly to me. I guess taste is so subjective...
These are 240x130 mm quite standard motorcycle registration plate in Europe. This summer I registered a 50cc scooter, and got a 175x160 plate, which fits very well within rear fender width.😁
@@RideWithAlex Loved the video, just found it funny you were having so much fun, and yet didn't even row through the gears with the QS. Hoping to trade in my Street fighter v2 for an xsr this weekend.
I've never heard anyone complain about the looks. Everyone I've talked to says it's a beautiful bike.
I can't see why anyone would call it ugly, it reminds me of how bikes looked in the 80's which is exactly what it's supposed to be.
Yep. Newer riders may not get that. It reminds me of 80’s super bikes that went down the road and re-appeared sans fairing. Great looking bike IMHO.
out of the big 4 yamaha always makes the most special bikes
It’s a neo retro version of the MT09 so that’s how they’re supposed to look. And they look way better that the MT09 in my opinion
I rode both and bought the XSR 100%
That engine sounds amazing.
That's nice.
It's cool!
Great bike!

You can still do your own take on it. Why not? :D
No one l know has called it ugly or complain about this XSR900 20222 on
I bet all those complaining about it have bought one because they love it!

It's gorgeous
You make me smile 😃

Dude, he made me smile too!

Romania ❤,
Cool bike and a great video, as always.

Not one of our best efforts, but is nice to see a little VW Fox from Brazil in Romania.
Cheers.
The fox is a rare car here but you see them every now and then :)

You see it in every corner around here, VW made this things up to 2019 or 2020 if I'm not wrong.

And now I'm curious to try the MT-09 :)) but yeah a fairing on the front might tie the front end together.
Engines are tuned the exact same, XSR is heavier and has a longer swing arm, so it's not as wheelie prone.

Thank you! 😁
how did you get so good exhaust audio? I have the same stock exhaust and I only hear wind when I record. Great video!
O use a rode smartlav+ mic inside a Scorpion exo 920 Evo. That's how it sounds 🤷
…”it’s lovely there, but i feel like it will kill you!”…….ha ha yeah respect!
Why couldn't this color be in the US?
Is the display 5inches like the new mt09?
I think it was arround 5 inches.
Nice bike, but we love the scooters😅
You dont have to do rev matching, this model has an auto blipper, as well as quick shifter.
Those motorcycle plates are Obnoxiously large compared to here in Missouri-a drag on fuel consumption

I thought you only test chinese..!
What made you think that?
@@RideWithAlex cause I saw you tested the whole family of zontes..!
@@takis4954 Zontes and Sym are very easy for me to get my hands on but no I test all bikes.
No jacket? Bare arms? Jeez, let's hope you don't come off...
Fingers crossed! :D
Do you not know what a quick shifter is? Lol.
Yes I know, didn't try to see if the bike has it, used a quick shifter on many occasions.
