Thing is with subaru and x mode you dont let off the gas as soon as it slips, too many people just let of as soon as a wheel spins. You need to keep the power in and let the system figure it out
Really good review that hit all the main points. I ordered my outback wilderness last week and I pick it up on Monday. It fits my lifestyle perfectly.... weekend mountain biker.
In Canada you can add the Wilderness Protection Package which adds a fuel tank skid plate, mud flaps and the rear wheel well protectors. I also added the differential and engine skid plates.
I've got one coming in soon. But there are 3 things that have me questioning my decision. I hate that everything goes through the touch screen. 2, you can't turn off traction control in Xmode. And 3 I heard that the hitch comes with a 4 way electrical plug. Why? No one does that anymore. All my trailers are 7 way. If the dealer wont wire in a 7 way plug it's a no go. I'm afraid they are going to say it's not factory parts so we cant install it because of warranty. I'll find out tomorrow
Should be a feature where you can engage all 4 wheels when needed. Could of gotten it out of some of those situations where it had a lot of wheel spin or had to do it over.
Everything on it is running based on computer software anyways. So it should be simple for them to just to program a feature to act like it has a pseudo locking differential. Better than nothing.
@@bubbalo3388 they are open diffs, doesn't work like that. Distributing torque requires wheel braking. If it was that simple to "just program" it, they obviously would haha
Subaru used to use limited slip differentials with no need to apply breaking to a spinning wheel. They just worked. A locker requires a physical part and they don't do turns, so you need to turn it on/off.

Man, I have to wait 8-10 weeks :(
Did you end up getting it and if so, how do you like it?

So 8 months later.. Do you still have it, like it ?
@@garyw9387 yes, I love the car. Very happy with it
@Randy Harrington Great! Really want one, but interest rates are still too high. Thanks for the feedback and Merry Christmas!
@@garyw9387 Merry Christmas to you too. They are a great Vehicle.

Would need a locking differential

@@chadbizeau5997 there are aftermarket locking diffs for these already. They are pretty good offroad once switched over
