TRYING a REAL PACZKI in POLAND.

- Day 2 in Katowice and I've got a new buzz haircut. So why not go and try the real Polish King of sweets, the Paczki, while I'm in Poland. I found I place with 3 Polish Grandma's working, so you know that it has to be good. I tried both a Paczki and another Polish sweet. They were both heavenly, much better than the ones in America. After saying goodbye to the Polish Babcia's , I was off to explore the city. I walked to a park where I met this young man who left Ukraine to come to Poland. He had a moving story to tell and he told me that his dream was to come to the USA. After hearing his story, I was quite moved. I wished him the best and assured him that Poland was a good country for him. I'm having an amazing trip so far.

Some people are thinking that Poland is a country of vodka (it can be true) but in reality, it's a country of hundreds of different types of bread.
Pączek is singular, pączki is plural (2-4), pączków /ponczkuff/ is also plural (starting with 5).
In the USA we simply say Paczki or Paczki's and it's pronounced very differently. There is nothing like eating a Paczek in Poland. It's so much better. Thanks for letting me know Katarzyna. 🙏🇵🇱

love the haircut l
Thanks bro. 😄
If you ever happen to be in Poznań you have to try our local delicacy ,the St. Martin's croissant (Rogal Świętomarciński). Only certified pastry producers / shops are allowed to bake that croissant. At Saint Martin's day at the 11 November pastry shops in Poznań sell around 250 ton of the St. Martin's croissant. The entire city of Poznań (600K citizens) eats all day long St. Martin's croissant's.
The 11th November is also Poland's Independence Day and we have a saying in Poznań "Make rogals, not war" which was created to counteract against the overtaking of the celebration of the Independence Day in Warsaw by ultra-nationalists.
That's wonderful. When I visit Poznan, I will for sure try this special croissant. I love croissants, in fact.🥐🇵🇱
Polecam. Jesteś sympatycznym facetem, więc czekam na kolejne vlogi.
The pastries, cookies and sweets of Poland are all so good. I will try some of the ones you mentioned. Thanks you for the kind words. Djiekuje bardzo. 🙏🏻🍪😋
THX
Name 'drożdżówka' comes from the word 'drożdże' which means yeast 😃 and yes, you can get them with many different fillings and also without any filling, only with icing and crumble topping.
When it comes to pączki, the most traditional are with rose jam, but I know around 20 different fillings. Also, there are different toppings. The most popular are icing and powdered sugar, but you can also get some with chocolate.
They are absolutely delicious. I tried the rose jam and it was so tasty. Polish pastries are the best! 🇵🇱🍩😋
nice kid hopefully he goes to LA bro
I wish him the best, he might just be better in Poland though. Thanks Foodie.
that thumbnail at 4:45 LOL
That's a good one. Loving these Polish treats. 😋🇵🇱
I have heard, that in Ukraine it is not permitted to let the young men leave the country during the war...? 13:08
Yes, it's true once they have turned 18. That's why his family sent him to Poland, to keep him safe.
You must try jagodziankę enjoy :D😎🇵🇱
I'm sure I'd enjoy that. 🇵🇱👌
what happened to your hair
very short,
Regards my friend.
Hahaha, I had a bad barber to blame. Cut it myself. 😄
Good job bro 👍. We are waiting for more videos like this 😊.
Smacznego!
Thanks Marius, plenty more videos are coming. Paczki in Katowice is amazing. 👍🇵🇱😎
That haircut definately suits you.
Everyone in Poland speaks english......not like Spain, hahahahah
Yes, it's easier for me in Poland than Spain actually. Thanks Manuel. 💇♂️🇵🇱😎
@@TravelAddictGuy hahahaha, no wonder, haven't seen a country with worse english skills never in my life.....oh my, spaniards really struggle to speak it, can't understand why is so difficult for'em
French also......i think but im not sure
También hablamos español en Polonia.
@@mariuszstopa903 vaya, pero no creo que sea lo normal, verdad?
Solo algunos muy pocos....
@@mariuszstopa903 Que buena! Un saludo Marius.
I recommend visiting the Silesian Museum, it is in the center of Katowice. It is located in an old coal mine.
That sounds very unique. Thanks for sharing Sim.👌🇵🇱
For the est zki in Katowice go to Słowik which is almost below Skarbek shopping gallery (bland blue building just at the main square, around 150-200 meters behind you when you exited the bakery). I love their chalva filling. But Michalski is well-known bakery in Katowice with tradition, not a bad choice either.
Thanks for sharing where to get the best Paczki in town. I'm going to try that place. Dzienkuje. 🇵🇱👌
Pączek in the Polish language but in the Silesian language is called krepel 😉By the way Poles love to eat natural stuff rather than,, fake ones,, if you know what I mean?
The foods here are all natural and you can taste the difference. 😋👍🇵🇱
Paczki are famous in Poland for sure.
And the most famous and traditional are with the rose filling.
Perhaps the amount of it also depends on the store or region of Poland.
The rose are my favorite now. But in America, I've never seen this kind.
plural donuts singular donut....pączki ... pączek... same. ;} if u wanna meny u say pączki if u want just one u say pączek. and then u ad what u like on it. fun as hell.
That's great, I'm still learning. Thanks for the help. 🍩👍
Delicious breakfast!! You lost your head insulation but it’ll grow back not to worry
Hahahah, head insulation, good one. My hair grows fast anyway. 😁👩🏻🦲😎
... serious haircut. it works..
Thanks DC, not bad and it cost me $0. 👨🦲😎😄
nice haircut, man! enjoy poland!
Thanks Matt, really liking Poland so far.🙏🇵🇱😎
Hi Kerry, looking good.
Thank you so much. 👨🦲👌💇♂️😎🇵🇱
I don't know if you are in Katowice still? You should visit the new city center near 'spodek - saucer' and the legendary district of Nikiszowiec.
Thanks for those recommendations. Going to check that out. 🙏🇵🇱😎
@@TravelAddictGuy Donuts here are called kreple. I recommend regional cuisine. Silesian dishes are: Silesian roulade with Silesian dumplings and red cabbage. Popular are: krupniok (black pudding Silesian style), Silesian sour rye soup, ciapkapusta (potatoes with sauerkraut), wodzionka (traditional soup), hekele (herring paste) 🙂
@@yakeosicki8965 These dishes sound tasty.
Nie ma to jak Polskie Pączki… chociaż mam ochotę na ptysia!
For sure, nothing like a Polish donut or sweet. Dzienkuje. 🍩😋🇵🇱
A ja na kawałek aromatycznego makowca z migdałami:)
Ptysie, z ciasta parzonego...
Z bitą śmietaną....
Pychotka!😋
It's weird you didn't know the pączek/pączki thing, given you're from Michigan, since the Detroit Poles would know the right way of saying it and writing it in local Polish delis.
The Poles from Hamtrack (where I used to buy Paczki's) . The customers called them Punch- key and the workers never corrected us. I have never heard Pon-chak before, even from Polish Americans.
@@TravelAddictGuy Nice. I used to live in Madison Heights on the outskirts of Detroit before we came back to Poland.
@krzysztofkietzman3332 Very nice, I grew up o the East side of Detroit. Between East Warren and Chandler Park Drive. I've also lived in Eastpointe (then was East Detroit). Ypsilanti, Detroit again and the suburbs. Pazcki day is a ritual in the Detroit area. 🇵🇱🇺🇲💪
Nice haircut bro
Thanks Steve, it's the cheapest cut too. 😄😎
Que rico 😋 ese pastel
Una de las mejores pasteles de Europa. Delicioso!🇵🇱😋
Los pasteles de Polonia son uno de los mejores del mundo y créanme porque he visitado más de setenta países 😎
@@mariuszstopa903 Setenta paises, tu eres un verdad viajero. Si los dulces de Polonia son muy delicioso.
Hi Kerry what a lovely young guy you spoke to from Ukraine.. Must be hard for him being separated from his family.. Loving the haircut 🙂
Leaving your family behind in a war zone at 17. Yes, it must be tremendously difficult. I wish him all the best. I'm glad you like the short cut. Thanks Angela. 👨🦲🇵🇱🇺🇦😎💪
