  • Flying over Seltún Geothermal Area close to Fagradalsfjall, Iceland. Geothermal hot springs and mud pools of Iceland. Drone footage. 4K. Filmed by me. Air 2S. Seltún geothermal area in Krýsuvík is one of the most striking landscapes in Iceland. Steam dominates the area with volcanic vents, fumaroles, mud pots and boiling hot springs. The green hills are painted in earthy colors of golden brown, red, pink, blue, yellow, white and grey.
    WHAT IS SELTUN?
Seltún comprises several geothermal fields in the Krýsuvík area on Reykjanes peninsula. It sits right on the doorstep of Reykjavík. Like many other nearby sites, it lies on the fissure zone of the Mid-Atlantic Ridge, making it a high-temperature area. This ridge is the reason the entire region is a bit rough and alien-looking, with jagged moss-coated lava and old volcanic craters, rolling hills and amazing rock formations, and bubbling geothermal mud pools. Once you arrive you can leave your car at the spacious parking lot. Next to it is an informative sign explaining all the important geological facts of the area. A well-maintained boardwalk winds through the bubbling and hissing field, making it easy to walk around. Two viewing platforms provide excellent views over the geothermal field.
Visiting Seltún is like stepping into another dimension. Hissing steam is forced out of the earth from geothermal vents as mud bubbles and boiling hot springs. Wherever you step, boiling water bubbles out of the earth left and right with a strong sulfate smell. The smell is completely harmless, but it can be compared to the smell of a rotten egg. Some even say it resembles the smell of the gates of hell. However, the rich and alluring colors of the landscape make up for the smell a thousand times over.

That's really quite beautiful from above. The nature is gorgeous. I'm not a geologist but be aware of possible hot springs. Just remember that is a volcano, regardless if it is active right now or not. It reminds me of Yellowstone, a bit. Bless you. Thank you for the video.

Oh my gosh... So many different, beautiful colors. I'm just blown away by this place, it's so gorgeous and ethereal. And wow from up high! What an amazing landscape, it' looks like a huge caldera. Very much reminds me of Yellowstone in that regard. Thank you so much for sharing this wonderful video with us and I love the music that you set it to, it goes perfectly. 😊👍🙏

Iceland has some beautiful natural scenery, if you ever come to US you should go to Yellowstone in NW corner of Wyoming , amazing geothermic sites 👍😎

beautiful landscape, won't be habitable by humans in another few hundreds thousands of years .... remind me of giant Yellowstone in Wyoming and much smaller Long Valley in Central California ..... I am not a geologist, but thanks for uploading this video on the geothermal area in Iceland 😀

I love the drone flights Roman. I find myself wishing every time towards the end, that I'd land and feel safe with you guys! Anyone else have these sensations? Like I'm a bird, flying around, and then it just ends... I'm left hanging my friend! I'd love to land in safe company and see your beautiful smiling faces. Beautiful Iceland. God sure did have fun painting this landscape... the water so blue. What's the temperatures for that? Looks too hot to soak in. Be well you guys. Xoxo! 🙏🏽🌾🖖🏽💐💕

How lovely! Are the colors of the deposits actually blue? or is that reflection?
That would make a beautiful abstract painting!

Wow, that's beautiful. The colors are amazing. @GutnTog I've never been to Iceland or Greenland but I've been told that Iceland is more green and Greenland is more icy. Is that true?

A fantastic video Roman. The colours look like a giant artist has dropped his palette paint side down. Do you know what makes the water such a vivid blue, is it copper sulphate ?
