Fantastic to see the croud reaction, particularly liked the young stunned couple during mcflurry eyes like rabbits in headlights, with that 'am I supposed to be here seeing this',' I don't know what it is'..a great performance...
Its really crazy, there was so much great music back then it's kind of hard not to emulate it... But you can't just keep doing the same shit. This band really helped realize this kind of boredom I felt therefore a new creativity
In many ways that's why I don't get any gigs anymore.....the B.S is strong. I won't deviate to get a gig.....I keep going and make the music precisely as I want it.
There's nothing really new about what they're doing.. just like ian dury, john lydon, john cooper clarke with trendy dub beats over it.. kinda dumb really.
Trendy dub beats?...nothing trendy about it to me at all. Dury never did this. Lydon certainly couldn't do anything like this, and Cooper Clarke possibly could have done, but it would of been a different kettle of fish altogether. I'm 50 and never heard anything like this before. It's unique, Jason makes it so ..I challenge you to find me someone with this his kind of delivery and phrasing and sense of humour, or any band that sound as authentic as these guys. Even though i hear influences and musical genres, i struggle to pigeon hole it .
the usual lazy comparisons except you left out The Fall. Sleaford Mods are nothing like Ian Dury. There is a bit of Lydon there and comparisons to Cooper Clarke may have superficial validity but that is all.
