Yes, I had a long ride in a C-130. MAC it was from Gulfport MS to Que Phu Bai in South Vietnam we stopped in the San Francisco area, and then went to Hawaii, Wake Island, Phillipines, and then to Que Phu Bai and it took about 53 hours to fly it, but we had breakdowns in Wake Island, and the Philippineswhich added about 15 hours to the flight time. However, it was better than taking a tramp cargo ship across the Pacific, which I accomplished on my next trip to South Vietnam 3 months later. Please note the three typos that we traveled through, that left our ship powerless for one day. That trip took 29 days, and the food sucked! Even the crew only ate portions of the food. On this trip we had some friendly news, if your in Davy Jones Locker, As the sister ship sank in the Aleutian Chain with all hands lost. In I corps we had Puff-the-Majic-Dragon almost every night, and the NVA moved down the highway about ten miles east of our position. It was beautiful to watch and hear!

AC-130 Ghostrider as a 30mm, a 105mm, and wing mounted AGM-114 Hellfire missiles, and/or GBU-39s, and/or GBU-53s
We've all seen the recoil from artilley pieces fired on the ground but to mount a 105mm cannon inside an aircraft is absolutely insane!!! The dampening system on that cannon must be brilliant as you barely see any movement of the Herc when they fire the gun....... only the Americans would be mad enough to do something like this!!! Its interesting that the USAF has changed what's in the toy box on the new Ghost Rider compared to what was carried in the previous AC-130, the only thing that remains is the US made M102 howitzer. They've removed the twin Vulcan 20mm guns and the 40mm Bofors gun and replaced them with a single 30mm GAU-23 Bushmaster ll. To some, it might seem like they have robbed the Ghost Rider of a lot of firepower, however........ the new ramp launched "Gunslinger" AGM's/GBU's and the wing mounted AGM's and GBU's/SDB's make this latest variant of an AC-130 an extremely potent weapons platform and an absolute nightmare for enemies on the ground...... Wish this video had some narrative. I would like to know more about what I'm looking at. Looks like they have several different guns -- for different kinds of targets, ranges or what?
Air Force AFSC is 1A4. The IR or TV Sensor Operator fires the weapons. However, in the AC-130U Gunship there was a Navigator, a Fire Control Officer, and a Electronic Warfare Officer. The Sensor Operators on the AC-130U Gunship were enlisted.
Some parts of everything is classified... The DOD shot this video, so they want people to know about it. either for recruitment or to let our targets know what they will be dealing with if they step out of line.

M102 howitzer from the air. thats game.
💯

My father told me storys of the lesser badass ac130 and he use to work on them as a crew chief and when they take plane in for maintenance they had one of the engine on a test stand and use to push the throttle to max lol
How many AC-130 gunships does the us air force have?
All of them.
500
just love these gunships ,love the names ,wish i could fly on one . ww 2 airplane and it could level a small town .
Is the Twin propellers better than single propellers ? Or can the pitch be increased depending on load?
Woulda been handy at Bengahzi..
I worked on the B-52 in Andersen AFB, Guam and on the C-130 in Little Rock AFB, Arkansas!
SAC STRATEGIC AIR COMMAND
Persian Gulf War
Im suprised they let you that close to the cameras.
AC-130 eh? haven't work with those in a while
I Remember the patches though
This is the avant-garde of the development of human civilization setting out to conquer the cosmos!
Increible la technica y avangardista attitud of USA ARMY controling the globe! Evita
That MW3 mission i just remembered...maaaaan that was coooool....
Daniel Mansur AC130 ABOVE !!!
Surface too air launch shoulder fired missles, could be a problem.
Only in a "B" movie. This $200 Million aircraft has many countermeasures for little missiles.
Absolutely outstanding video.
thanks. That helps.
Maybe a dumb question, but is the light purely for illumination, or is it part of a targeting system?
I don't know, I'm just a camera guy, we will have to wait for somebody that knows...
Wish this video had some narrative. I would like to know more about what I'm looking at. Looks like they have several different guns -- for different kinds of targets, ranges or what?
one's for ground targets (the minigun) another's for artillery and heavy vehicles (the giant canon) and the last one's for air vehicles
Thank you.
이런 공격방식은 베트남전 때부터 사용됐다
지금은 조준장치가 디지털화 됐다 그당시에는
105 mm 야포를 사용한 것같은데
Without America, the world will become chaotic.
I thought whoever made this a reality must of been extremely intelligent to put it into action
During my time in the Marine Corps, we had a few of these land at our base, and I got to work on the electronics.
What a scary monster !!!
Xx
Only to the enemy!
@@adrianfirewalker4183 ... but under friendly fire by this... a true nightmare too ;)
@@Frank-rh7vh I was lucky enough to never have experienced that
@@adrianfirewalker4183 ... totally agree, i`m by your side!
All I know is ; I’m glad the AC 130 is on our side
You would think that when firing a cannon sideways in an airplane that concussion would shudder the plane sideways
I was just talking about those guys
Engine is Allison T56
It would be a great improvement
Do you see how this works now ?
IF I owned my own Island I would want no less than two of these with the weapons they can put on target .
Sure come a long way since Puff, aye!
And here I thought Puff the Magic Dragon was a song about smoking pot...lol jk
O me gash. Hello im mohamman in iran,
im komando, you verry,. Vrry. Good,
Perfekt,👏👏👏👏👏👏
I would honestly be kind of surprised if you could hear that minigun very well over the sound of being alive in a C-130
Its a 20mm Vulcan cannon, and it is louder than the aircraft, and rattles the entire plane when it fires. A minigun is just a 7.72.
roll the side window down and get some fresh air
Thank you this was very interesting to watch :)
Thank you, I haven't seen an AC-130 in about 20 years but the C-130 is still an amazing aircraft.
He had a few javelins and tow missiles few other anti-tank weapons but it's absolutely got to be pinpoint destruction lions and tigers and bears oh my
I don’t know, seems like big target for a portable stinger
The 105 shells are NOT 300 lb! Thirty six to forty three lbs.
does anybody know the specfic job at 3:06
He is probbaly a sensor operator, I think the CSO combat systems officer isn't a hands on the equipment guy. but i could be wrong..
Maybe the setup is like an M16 with recoil
AF retiree I thought a AC-130 gunship was classified. Why are they showing it on you tube?
Some parts of everything is classified... The DOD shot this video, so they want people to know about it. either for recruitment or to let our targets know what they will be dealing with if they step out of line.
