I am a camping, hiking, hunting and all around outdoorsman. I say this because knives are a daily tool for me not just merely a collectable. I use them. There will always be 3 knives on my person at all times. Sometimes 4. My neck knife is the CRKT Minimalist, the size and sharpenability is what does it for me. Have skinned a whole deer with mine no problem and like all knives I had to true it with a hone steel about 3 times only. Thats pretty good. Also its very unnoticeable by the public. The case double bladed pocket knife my Daddy carried and a 6 inch Buck bowie for all around everything outdoors. I have plenty more I use in different situations and purpose. They all get used. If you have knives learn how to use them for there specific purpose. And please remember, a dull knife is a dangerous knife 🔪
sorry to be off topic but does anyone know a method to get back into an Instagram account? I somehow lost the account password. I appreciate any tricks you can give me.
@Jon Randall Thanks for your reply. I got to the site through google and I'm waiting for the hacking stuff atm. Looks like it's gonna take a while so I will get back to you later with my results.
I've been looking for a neck knife. I've never worn a neck knife. The more I look, the more I come back to my Le Duck that I've worn as a belt (horizontal) knife when walking the dog or carrying concealed. I started looking at the Obake after watching this, but I may end up buying a second Le Duck...one for neck and other for belt. It just feels so right in the hand and is a good size for a concealed low profile in Michigan. You're one of the only reviewers I've seen that seems to appreciate the Le Duck as much as I do.
I've had that Minimalist Scout Carry all the time for quite some time and my wife has never known its there. Love it. But about to throw it back on my neck and put a Holtzman Baby Silverback behind me. But Damn that Bark River may be the coolest little knife I've seen. Just beautiful. Def a must have. And if you haven't see what you think on the Holtzmans. Little gem I swear. Glad to see the duck as well. It was around my neck for a bit and loved it.
For a defense knife I prefer a break away chain instead of paracord or leather. If you're in a struggle the lanyard can be a choking hazard. Just my 2 cents.
I have the leduck and the minimalist, love them both, they are great little knives, that bark river is pretty, ive been thinking about getting the Tops 2.5 scandi, it would pair nice with my Tops Bob which isn't a true scandi either, you have a heck of a collection, thanks for sharing!
I agree with the Tops MSK with just the sheath. It seems clear that you carry a neck knife for use as a utility tool. For me a neck knife is a last ditch effort to save your life. So the knife styles I would choose would be different. That CRKT Obake is one that I have and carry. But my favorite is the Cold Steel Spike models and the Tac 2. I have a few larger ones that can be neck or boot knives. It doesn't matter if a knife is fixed blade or a folder, I keep hearing different people go on about how heavy this one or that one is. The only reason I don't carry a full Katana is that I find it difficult to conceal. I absolutely don't care how heavy it is. All I know is that people like Jim Bowie, Davy Crockett, etc. Did not spend a moment crying about how heavy their musket or knife was. Real MEN, whereas today, oh! it's just so heavy.

Interesting you put the Buck 102 in the mix. I have one and I've thought it would be handy as a neck knife. If I knew some one who could do Kydex, I'd have a neck sheath made for it. Now, if your on a budget, like I am. Take a look at the series of neck knives from Cold Steel. I just recently picked up the Mini Tac Bowie, very nice little knife, and the Koyoto 2 "Tanto". Both are very nice little knives. I've not used them in the outdoors yet. But around the house and in the kitchen, very useful. So take it easy and stay sharp.
I remember when Lucas Burnley was just starting out, I bought like 4 of his kwaiken knives. The heat treat was impeccable, you could do the brass rod test, and the edge would just flex right back.
I just bought a K25 tactical neck knife, very cheap great little knife but the blade hangs upside down around my neck and the sheath is a little faulty so it already fell out at work so lucky i heard it drop, so better to carry them in your pocket. Maybe expensive neck knives are better fits, 🤷
I have been actively looking for a neck knife and I need to say that this is BY FAR the best video and Top # collection I have come across. Excellent work! Gonna get me a Mr Duck and maybe that Bark River sweetie. And the Topps look really good too. Nice job.
Very much like the Obake, I have the CRKT Sweet K.I.S.S. Love it, but I found the sheath's retention is wearing out - to the degree the knife (tip up carried) tends to fall out. To bad! Another neck knife I love is the Necker by Brisa (brand formerly known as Enzo) . Leather sheath, tip down carry.
Nice! I know tops has a fine repute, but I’d skip the tops. Tooooop hard to sharpen, I have the msk, eh worst knife ever, in my opinion. Love the minimalist by ckrt or whatever, it’s a razor😮
I have a Tops mini trakker..not really very fond of it. It's cool looking, but just not my thing. I'd sell it. I love the MSK 2.5 though,. Great knife. My favorite necker though is my Blackjack 155. I got the micarta scales for it and I just love that knife! Good steel, nice sharp convex grind, and comfortable in hand with the addition of the micarta scales. I like it better than my Izula 2.
I like all of your blades also Mr. Duck. I carry a B. River Bravo edc, you have another modell btw, or the smallest Fallkniven. Both great knifes bur I really dig my little Bravo..
Have you tried any Anza knives? Really stout knives made from files. They have a couple models that are good as neck knives, the Mini SWAT (or Baby SWAT I forget) and Bumble Bee.
Interesting list! I miss the enzo necker which is my favorite and i made lots of handles for this blade 😂 the obake is nice and one of the first i bought, because i like the kwaiken style. From your list the bark river checks all the boxes 🙋🏻♀️Anna
Would the first one be an ideal carry? I don’t carry knifes regularly but by the way things are going It’s starting to look like a good investment especially that I live in a hooded area with all sorts of thuggery.. I know it would be used as a LAST option but if it was used are the blades dependable? My question is pretty much asking that the blades don’t brake, I would like to see a strength test if possible, cool video by the way New subscriber
I don’t think any of these would break, but if you want to be sure, get the one here offered in elmax steel or get something like a white river backpacker or caper in s35vn or rainier fastpak in elmax, but those might be out of your price range. Doubt any of these would break in self defense though, but I do love me some nice steel. Only downside is some of these steels can be a little harder to sharpen, if you aren’t experienced, than the cheaper steels, but they will hold their edge/sharpness much longer under use. Might not be an issue though if the knife is only to be deployed for potential self defense situations
THanks for no boring intro!!! I notice you left out the bradford g necker in elmax which is a premium quality tool steel and yet you haven't mentioned it once in any of your video's. Is that because Bradford didn't give you any money or free knives or are you just not aware of it???
Nice video I’ve been trying to decide what to get for a first neck knife for a couple days now. Fist time seeing the Le Duck, I see amazon sells it would you recommend that over the CRKT minimalist or a cold steel one then?
Johnny Juke I ended up getting the Le Duck. Love the sheath and 360 clip. Started wearing it on my belt line when walking the dog. Have it teamed up with my Edc Pacific salt 1
I remember the Obake(so unique and different), ahhh there is that beautiful buck again! I love the minimalist, got it too. I remember that bark river, so nice!! I have always wanted one from that brand too, out of my price range though for now. I almost got that 2.5 around xmas, another amazing looking lil knife that really caught my attention. Was thinking the whole time before you showed him "that duck better be in there lol". I really want to get one now that you showed the quack'r better. I have been highly impressed with my small orange one mom got me, for surely a neat brand thats affordable! I like the order, I might have put the bark river in number 1 but thats just a personal thing then mr.duck as number 2. Awesome video Johnny! Oh and you are welcome(the email).
Cool vid, I have fondled “Le Duck” many a time when found in stores and have never bought one...but I think I need one. I carry my ESEE Izula the most of my neck knives, the White River Backpacker, 2nd most. You should try those if you haven’t, as well as the: IZULA 2, Becker Eskabar, Real Steal Receptor (phenomenal bang for buck and amazing ergos on that one), TOPS pitstop, TOPS TIBO, and LT Wright has several that compare to the BARKIE you have
CRKT uses crap steel, and can't grind a good cutter to save their company. TOPS uses good steel, but can't grind a good cutting edge; uses thick coating to compensate for garbage grind and finishing. The Bark River is ok, but their heat treating is suspect and inconsistent, and Elmax is a horrible choice for a using steel. And Outdoor Edge...literally the worse grind/steel/heat treating I've ever encountered. Seriously, Pakistani-level quality. Do you own any properly ground/heat treated knives? I suppose they all have their charms, for people who don't know squat about steel, grinds, or heat treating. Hate to be so harsh, but even the QSP Neckmuck uses a better steel than most any of these, has better using design, and it's not a sharpened prybar. And it's $42 after tax.

I have carried a Cold Steel Mini Pendleton Hunter (AUS-8) but I duck taped a magnet to the sheath.
Like that bark river ,I love the essee pinch for a neck knife

For a defense knife I prefer a break away chain instead of paracord or leather. If you're in a struggle the lanyard can be a choking hazard. Just my 2 cents.
I'd put M1 Backpacker Pro at #1 tbh. similar to your #1, but more versatile as you can unscrew the handles
I have the leduck and the minimalist, love them both, they are great little knives, that bark river is pretty, ive been thinking about getting the Tops 2.5 scandi, it would pair nice with my Tops Bob which isn't a true scandi either, you have a heck of a collection, thanks for sharing!

Good taste. I would love to have a kydex sheath made someday.👍

You ever look at the Tops Blue Otter? I'm thinking of getting one, its really cool looking but also has a great grip for such a small knife.
Haven’t handled one yet.
Lol very cool ty.
If I were a woman living in an urban environment I would definitely have a little neck knife. I'm a big guy and I carry a knife at all times.
Is the bark river one still available?
I'm not sure.
add White River M1 Backpacker
Where can I buy the msk one can’t seem to find it online
Your minimalist is a bowie version, but your sheath is the recurve/tanto Weird !
They are are all made this way.
can you add links to where you buy your knives?
I like your list. Its pretty good. I just would add what i carry as my neck knife lol ..... The Eskabar neck knife 🤗

The Marathon or Suunto.
@@JohnnyJuke Thank You! Looking to add it to my Escobar for backpacking.
mr Duck! love
I don’t like the Bowie shape on CRKT minimalist. The other shapes work much better with the handle for me.

Duratech necknife number one, neckmuke number two, not sure about three.
I don't do intros either... I have a nice 3 second fade out logo that I don't even use. Lol
