One of the earliest vtuber clips I'd ever seen was the graduation of a warlord forgetting to turn off the mic, so you can just imagine now elated I am to see polka doing well

Hololive really is for her, the Legend of Polka series alone is amazing and there's rarely any content like that on Niji so it's very unlikely that she'll be able to do the same series if she was there. also Polka has one of the most dedicated fans that followed her from her PL to being Polka.
I believe that even many people in cover and Holomems then are also fans from her PL.
Couldn’t have picked a better place to reincarnate. I’m not very familiar with kind of stuff she used to do in her previous life but I love our funny fennec. The Legend of Polka videos are so different compared to the rest of the Holomems content.
I also appreciate her efforts to interact with the EN girls. She and Kronii are hilarious together. That Switch Sports stream they did where Polka panicked over Kronii saying “kintama” was amazing

Niji actually *does* have quite a bit of that sort of content, so I'm not sure where that one's coming from.
I remember this on a reddit post before where there were a lot of people who were against her decision to join Holo over Niji. Because there was this narrative circling around the JP scene that Niji is a more well establish and respectable company over Holo.(Polka/Oda)
Another different incident was for Yamiyono Moruru on her graduation. Idk if it's true since the vod was taken down immediately.
She opened her vc expecting any Niji members to drop by and greet her before leaving the company.
To her and chat's surprise no one came even her own genmates.
She ended up crying for the rest of the stream and the rumors of her being bullied within the company ended up being true.

To clarify any confusion, Polka was never a part of Niji.
This was the time she was known as Oda Nobuhime, I'm not sure but I think the agency she joined back then was somewhat tied to Kizuna Ai's agency??(Never mind, someone in the comments already mentioned it correctly. Thanks @KyteM.)

@@giandarlen263 I'm not sure, but I don't think what he said was right. Only nanora was part of niji as far as I know. When Polka was Oda Nobuhime, she apparently joined a different agency, but it certainly wasn't niji. She did joke before that she couldn't join niji because she was already in hololive, but I'm not sure if that was before or while she was already Polka.
Polka is such a great member for Hololive. Incredible songs, entertaining series, love for other members and the fans, and so many abilities. Thank you for the translation. Polka is definitely one of the JP members that make me wish I could understand japanese.
I especially love how much she loves the EN girls. Iirc, she's been in every EN HoloGra debut, and she always tries to join for call ins when they do those.
But also how immensely supportive she is, like when Nene was feeling down and she visited her for a sleepover to cheer her up.

@@chantingzhang True, and considering that clip about her in her PL joking about not being able to join Niji because she's "already in Hololive" and then more seriously explaining why she'd rather join Holo than Niji, I'd say she probably did know about stuff like that. Tho, she focused more on how she could just sneak into Niji without being noticed with how many talents they have (and that was like, more than 3 years old afaik), so even without the whole black company thing, it's definitely for the best that she join Holo.
Sure, they have a ton of talents too, and I'm less familiar with Holostars compared to Hololive (unlike with Niji where my knowledge of male and female talents are roughly equal), but I can at least list out almost all of their talents by memory, and I watch clips of most of them, whereas with Niji has so many talents that I can't even name most of the EN branch now (and a lot of who I _can_ name by memory have already moved onto other agencies lol)

Rewatching a certain Vtuber's graduation stream, I can't help but notice that Sora-chan's final words to her was "See you again! Do your best, do your best! Thank you!". which could be read as a generic farewell, but could also be read as a 'looking forward to working with you'.

This is still noteworthy to this day - there are detractors still saying that hololive should do away with the idol theme (thinking that it'll rid of the idol stigma/stalkers - wishful thinking anyway)
These girls know exactly what they signed up for, because hololive has provided an alternative avenue to the idol industry without the ranking nonsense, popularity costests and cutthroat beauty standards.
Just pure developed talents, and existing ones put to good use.
Yep. Hololive shouldn't get rid of the Idol theme. The girls who apply to join Hololive want that as part of it. They should instead keep at it and continue finding ways to do even better by their talents.

From my point of view, polka tends to be very non-chalant and not always express her true feelings. But in this clip you can hear her eyes light up when she talks about why she wanted to join hololive, this is the most passionate I've ever heard her speak

She was the first VTuber I saw in a "PL" before appearing again. I first saw her for her Undertale streams and her remix cover of Asgore. She didn't say much here but Polka definitely has a "from sorrow to success" character arc leaving her previous company and joining Hololive.

With what is going on (en branch imploding, alcohal and energy drinks in jp) and what happened with niji (Luna's past life). She has some great senses to pick hololive. Her creative content (polka no densetsu) is also readily supported by them.
So, you could see this as one of two ways.
1. Polka wanted to "protest" or "rebel" against Niji by joining Hololive.
2. Polka simply chose violence.
Never really thought about it, but come to think of it it’s been long enough that new Holofans might not know that in terms of experience Polka is on the level of gen 0.
Gen 0 is a confusing term because not all of them debuted first. Better to compare with the daisenpai (Sora, Roboco, Suisei).
The back storys like this are always very interesting, and Hololive talent picking skills are incredible

It’s a wordplay on “utaite” and “neta”. Utaite usually means “cover singer” as many of them have their original songs nowadays, and “neta” means “joke”. Combined, it means “joke songs cover singer”, literally.
It doesn’t mean that “netaite” only do joke songs; it’s just what the community calls them as. It’s like calling someone an “internet troll vsinger” in an endearing way.
These words were born within the context of NicoNicoDouga (NND, aka THE japanese video sharing website, or the birthplace of many many current vtubers), where videos of song covers and originals among others are shared around.
Hmmm I feel like she's skipping some details here and there ;) But it's cool to know she really wanted to join Hololive specifically. It's also interesting to know she wanted to oppose Nijisanji. Back when she was joining Hololive, Nijisanji was a much bigger company.
But yeah, Nijisanji always made it a point to state their talents are NOT idols (even if their actions suggest otherwise over past few years and we had some talents considering it or outright graduating from Nijisanji precisely because of company's shift in focus toward idol activities...)

Niji was the biggest at that time, but the vtuber boom was started within hololive and hololive has already beaten them ever since.

Im seeing a lot of PL and history being mentioned which shows me how little i knew of the literal Vtuber that brought me in the rabbit hole by overslepping and a generation that has been through a lot, but one i enjoy dearly. Including the revelation of info concerning Luna allows me to see why I was drawn to both of them as my first JPmems along with Nene. I try to leave PL(Past & Private Life) stuff wherever the person wants it to be, but im glad to see that they have made a place for themselves and floursihed in it.
