Wataru Akiyama's Turbo Moments [Initial D: Second Stage]
Without Akiyama. Takumi would have never found the New 86's true potential.
But uncle Bunta knows how to get the most out of it
@@hybridShinx but he was willing to make takumi struggle
@@jackepicproyt thats his way after all
There’d be someone else, I’m sure lol
"Y'know, my son still hasn't figured out that new engine, Yuichi... 🚬😑"
"Maybe you should tell him, Bunta?"
His race with Takumi is where Deja Vu’s inception began. And it wasn’t even a drift it was riding a dirt bank of all things lol.
In the manga Takumi passes Wataru for a distraction of the latter due to the fatigue of the countless rounds, but he does not overtake him on the landslide mud (which I always find a lot weird...) he just finds enough space to pass the Levin at the inside of a corner, due to a Wataru's error caused by tiredness.
I still wonder how Deja Vu became popular, it was in a lame pass scene and it was not even synced
Make Up Your Mind should have been more popular cuz it had a better scene
@@yuki.35xxxv I too love Make up your Mind as well too! I play every time I am sqeueezing the hell out of my Alfa 155 V6 Busso (turbocharged) and when it plays "Baby, make up your mind, follow your heart..." I like to floor down, waiting for the turbo boost to make me get hyped for the acceleration, and than BOOM! making my "red rocket" thundering away, every single time with Wataru's Levin in my mind! ;)
@@grandicellichannel I really love the part with Grand Prix playing as Wataru battles Takumi with worn tires it is the most hype part for me
@@kildare2940 compleately agree, they were squeezing the best out of themselves and out of their Hachi-Rokus.
0:58 I absolutely love this scene for some reason, maybe due to perfect mix of Eurobeat and Turbo spooling
opponents in nfs rubberbanding be like:
Name the eurobeat

Same here!! And what i also love more is that they animated that same scene in gamble rumble ending of last stage, where it looks even better!
thought the cgi shots for the Turbo looked cool so I posted these here, 🤷
Wataru Akiyama supercharger moments when?
@Tofu Crasher! More like atomic powerplant that charges phones
Those cgi shots for the turbo ARE cool
His turbo whistles are really cool thou
I want to hear them in reality somedayXD
This setup is very out of date today, most modified turbo cars dont make this sort of noise anymore, regardless how much BHP they make
I think this kind of turbo kit only lasted till 2005, imagine doing that today, ppl would think your poor or something
@@hybridShinx true, but I think it would be more beautiful to see it since i love wataru and his setup during this battle so much:3 just my wish or something
@@levin3426 well i wish Toyota was still in NFS, i'd kill to install Ultimate parts into the Corrolla GTS, you can choose either a large single turbo, dual turbo kits, screw supercharger, roots supercharged or centrifigural chargers (turbo/compressor combined)
You can get this sound with the hks super sqv running the high pressure fins.
@@hopstr9606 or NGR Type S bov.
0:37 I came here for this part
Seeing that chassis shake because of the power it has
Yeah cause maybe he didnt change the chassis and the tire or it just make way too many power then the chassis cant handle
what music plays during that scene it sounds sick
@@bigpvzfan42069 Big In Japan by Robert Patton
@@IKATEN501 ok thanks
Yeah the power of those 70s journal bearing boom turbos was absolutely insane, my dad had one in his car back in the day and it was like 50hp up until 3500RPM then it pretty much instantly became 250HP it was insane, especially out of a 1.6L
His actually an impressive driver. Takumi let us forget the fact that, 86 Isn't a easy car to drive well.
And his races against Takumi and Keisuke were both tough match.
Becuz the AE86 was never design to handle more than 200hp, imagine trying to put a VQ35DE, it would be suicide in that thing
@@hybridShinx well, that never happened
He drives an 86, with high power, and single turbine, on bumpy roads. Holy shit
@@justkev1044 probably really cheap tires to just about everything about his setup is cheap.
@@hybridShinx VQs are awful
1:01 something about that Turbo spool released and the wheelspin make this battle so iconic. Wataru really gave Takumi a run for his money honestly between him and Mako’s battle
It has 200 hp, but looks like it has 400 hp!
He only upgraded the engine not the entire drivetrain so he has impede control basically he is no clue on how to properly boost the car
280hp actually
bigger turbo normally makes more power but the bigger turbo, the more turbo lag you will have, and turbo lag would hurt your car's cornering performance
@@zackrider3708 That's why you get two turbos. A big one to boost the car's performance and a small one to spool the big one.
@@k.g.b.1150 the problem with that, is that its Not simple, its complex or complicated. When its complex or complicated, its prone to problems. thats one of the reasons why no one uses twinchargers
Every time wataru’s turbo kicks in it sound like a fucking plane turbine during takeoff (0:44, and 1:09)
0:57 goes like one as well
I feel nostalgic watching this.
I love the turbo spooling...it's so vicious like a predator hunting their prey. ESPECIALLY when combined with the 0:15 shot
aside from wanting the Trueno, the Levin would be the choice I'd take if I couldn't get my hands on a Trueno, Wataru's Levin is so freaking cool!

@@nissansilvia3746 lol
im impressed wataru's turbo can boost to 1.5 bar (21 psi)
he sure using 4a gze internals for that
0:13 vroom o phew and 0:45 sheeeeeee phew and 0:58 sheeee bam and finally 1:08 fading inside the bonnet and sheeeeeeeeeeee phew phew
Aaaaaah I've always wanted his car with the same stats and look in irl
It says on the wiki it has 200 horsepower but with the amount of boost pressure and based on the car's level of control and ability to plow uphill straights like no tomorrow it actually has around 300 horsepower. Definitely not just 200 horsepower. It also doesn't make sense for it to have MORE power with a supercharger even with the changed engine, so while it might make 250 hp with the supercharger... maybe... that turbo is a high power machine.
I like to think that it has 280 ps with thr turbo. 280 in a 4A-GEU with just the turbo is enough to blow the engine (in 4th stage its said that Wataru blew up the turbo engine)
300 ps or more still is a possibility
Also its said that, in uphill, Takumi's 86 still struggled to follow Wataru's turbo 86, so it has to be more than 240 ps
@@amazingstealth8235 I remember seeing some damn where that his car has 280 horsepower. Judging by the way he drives the car with the tail wagging, the size of the turbo and the boost pressure I’d say that’s about right, way better than 200. The boost lag most likely wouldn’t have been a big enough problem at 200 to warrant that driving style (think Kenji’s 180sx which has 205hp), and the turbo wouldn’t make that much noise, right? He also had no issue keeping up with Keisuke’s 350hp FD. I know they were not driving at the limits but I would think that a 200hp car would have some trouble keeping up with that FD (“There’s no way Keisuke’s FD should have any problem outrunning that 86”, Ryosuke), since Wataru isn’t as good a driver as Takumi is. I even built the car in BeamNG Drive exactly with same boost pressure and everything, and it came out to about 280. Plus, I’m pretty sure Wataru says during the race at Shomaru something along the lines of “That engine is incredible, it’s able to keep up so well with my 86!” Which means that if his car had 200 horsepower then it shouldn’t have been a surprise for a 10k+ rpm monster racing engine to keep up with it. So I think it’s safe to say 280 is a good number. Sorry for the essay, I just get passionate when it comes to cars lol
@@indigocoolvinyl00 @Indigo Cool Understandable, Im just like that too xD
If in school they made me write an essay with free tematic, there would be 10 entire pages talking about cars
2nd arc - 290hp
4th arc - 260hp
5th arc - 330hp
A girl i know, lives n breathes touring cars, got wet when she saw this thing in the series
280hp as said in the manga
1:11 what the hell that was cool
My fav sequence
I saw initial d this last weekend and right away this was my dream car
*280hp turbo 4age whistles*
Man a turbo is crazy for an AE86.
Now people slap 1UZs into them lol
Wataru is an alternate universe version of Takumi.
0:59 86 owners after they install a turbo in their 86:
unless you own an ae85, that would be no problem
It looks unstable when the Levin exit corners i guess is due to turbo that cause over power
The Levin has about 280 or 290 hp during this race so yeah even the drift king himself only has 215 hp in his 86.
Loved the wataru battle
I was not known that wataru's car is a LEVIN AE86 (TURBO). Thanks Mr.Guardrail
The chills i get watching this scene....oouuuuf
if initial d was wangan midnight inital midnight :troll:
Imagine if takumi race with him at wangan highway. His car wouldn't be a match to ae86 levin turbo.
Could be... But takumi car will be lighter since he has na engine
but in c1 areas takumi will probably win
So THIS is what Shun Akiyama did before starting Sky Finance
My dream car sounds cool
180sx turbo sounds like s13 turbo
Well they both are the same cars with different front and rear end one of the example are mako and sayuki( impact blue ) sileighty
Same chassis?
Identical engines for the most part.
Initial d: cricket stage
Your expatation when u buy a turbo:
Mm mmmmmmmm that HKS BOV
I wanna turbo my car with the same kit so it sounds like that lol
can relate pal, this turbo sound is better that the STUTUTUTU

I like this sence and i do this to my old child hood cart lol
DEJA VU I'VE JUST BEEN IN THIS PLACE BEFORE, FIRE ON THE STREET AND I KNOW IT'S MY TIME TO FO
I wonder if you can edit the vid again but with the background music removed so all we can get is the turbo sounds.😀😁
I can’t I already tried
So this mad man running with no air filters
Imagine sucking dirt and sand
Probably why he blew it up 💀💀. He couldn't even be arsed to run intercoolers on both his setups, wasting horsepower as a result lmao

Because barely any games have Levins.
initial d midnight stage
The AE86 Turbo had OME sideskirts in the manga.
actually, they are the "Sports Package" side skirts since normal 86s never came with those sidr skirts. You need to order the "Sports Package" side skirts to put it on your 86
His 86 look very unstable
Spent more time putting boost in than actually tuning the suspension.
Every sleeper car
It is
200hp from 1.5 bar?? I thought 280hp from 1.5 bar
It is 280hp
Roses are red, voilets are blue. Wataru's levin goes: screeeeeeeeeeee PSHHTUTU!!
Tsssssuuu!

What kind of turbo or the name of the turbo for me looks like a(Blitz bolt-on turbo) correct me if I am wrong)
Well I don't know the specific model but it was A Blitz bolt-on turbo with him also having a Blitz boost gauge
AE86 Levin Turbo in the manga had about 250 horse power.

I love Wataru’s Rims are they Work Equip 03 ?
In the manga, they are SSR Formula Mesh wheels or Venette By Vega Artrise wheels
In the anime, they are Work Rezax. In reality, Work Rezax don't fit in an 86 so for my take, it's SSR Dori-Dori mesh wheels
I prefer the look of the Enkei RC-S wheels he installed later on in the anime. These are pretty cool though.
I just love the CGI in the second stage
