Having left Long Island 17 years ago to retire this video was a breath of fresh air for us. More suggestions for you would be to visit the towns of Bellport and Patchogue on the South Shore, Northport, Huntington on the North Shore. You'll find a lot of charm in all those places and even some history.
@Maureen Ceglia YES! I have to say that I agree with you that he has to visit Patchogue where I used to live and Northport where one of my brother lives. I'm familiar with the other towns although I've been THROUGH them but only in passing, except for Huntington..I visited a few times a friend who lives there a very short time though. Northport is absolutely beautiful! He definitely has to go to the railroad diner and the gazebos by the dock. I think you will be pleasantly surprised to see what's still in THE CENTER of Main Street. I'm not sure if you know of, or if he could handle that really steep street? The one they have the bench to rest before you take the rest of the walk when it turns? It's right off of Main Street kind of almost across the street from where you're coming up to Gunther's bar. All I know is that I did it once or twice when I was house sitting AND I swear to you I will never do it again. I am way too old & and my rickety knees can't handle that craziness. LOL 😂
Absolutely gorgeous town, I love seeing older architecture. It looks like the buildings and houses are in really good shape considering how old they are. It is not cheap to maintain older buildings in excellent shape.
Hi Ken just an FYI from a Village resident, the municipal dock is on the Great South Bay and your view at the dock us called Babylon Cove. The bay is in between Fire Island and the mainland with the Atlantic Ocean on the south side of Fire Island. Due to the fog you could not see the Robert Moses Causeway Bridge leading to Robert Moses Beach the western most portion of Fire Island. Ferries to Fire Island run from Bayshore, Sayville and I believe Patchogue. Cars are not allowed on the Fire Island except emergency vehicles. The only area of Fire Island with passenger cars is to and from Robert Moses Beach with the Eastern most parking lot the farthest car can travel. It's about a 11/2 mile walk from the state park Beach to the 1st town on Fire Island. Thanks for the video. Lived here 36 years but the video is a pleasant new perspective.
The Village of Babylon is so tranquil and quaint! 😍 I enjoyed seeing the local historical restaurants, shops, residential homes, and fall foliage in the area. 20:20 The owner did an amazing job with the Halloween decorations! The Marina and Municipal Dock are so serene, and the foggy skies added to the Halloween ambience. Thank you for sharing your first visit to Babylon, AK! 🤗

Babylon's so cute! I had a coworker who lived there and went to visit a few times and always thought it was super charming. Your video really captures that! Small town America in the fall is like something out of a fairytale. 🍂 I remember Doughology having good donuts 👀
Just so you're aware... The church you passed on the left hand side... When you get down to the end of the block and make a left you're gonna see the side part of the property cuz it goes behind those stores the separate building. IN that building is where they have soup kitchen dinners AND they also throw a special holiday dinners.

Hi AK…. West Islip is in the township of Islip … not the township of Babylon. I’m a big fan of yours and grew up in that area. I know it well. At the end that’s the Great South Bay. Beyond that is Fire Island and that’s where the Atlantic Ocean starts. If it wasn’t so foggy you’d be able to see it.
I grew up here in the village, lot's more that you missed but definitely a nice place to take a walk and stop to have a drink or bite to eat. Low man's closed down after 50 years of being in business and you missed (Argyle park) it's beautiful with waterfalls where Couples take their wedding pictures and they also have a craft fair Around the 5 lakes that surround the park. Definitely a great place to raise a family.
SEE how bright it's getting? You were seeing that tree line. Right before you passed that boat that was a light aqua you could see a patch in the water where the fog had lifted off... it was oval. You can see that the water was starting to get shiny so the fog had lifted off of it... The water was clear looking there, everything else had that milky haze over it. It's only been a few, it's coming.
I thoroughly enjoyed this walk, thanks. I love to see the historic old towns in a state I will never get to, even tho my husband is from upstate NY (Rome and Ada area).
Fancy Lee used to be a diner waaaay back in the early days... When you buy property there a lot of it can't be changed because the fact that it's a historical town and they want to keep the integrity of it they don't want you tearing down buildings even if it's not been labeled as a historical building. They wanted to retain that village feeling, so you have to keep the exterior facade at least the way it was while you renovate the inside of what you want to change into suit what you are presenting to the public as your dining experience.
@@ActionKid I haven't been in there to try the food since it's changed over which is a very long while now. BUT I did go there when it was the old diner... The name I can't seem to remember because it was decades ago. I do remember the food was awesome though! 😂 Hey... What can I say? I used to waitress in bartend on and off of 15 years. It sticks in your mind when you're in this industry where you get great food and places where the food was horrendous even decades later. 😂
Hey thank you for showcasing my town. I live just a bit west outside of Babylon Village. Nice job! Yea, when you live near the water, the fog can roll in fairly quickly. From sun to fog at times, no joke. Also, the water at the end of your tour is not really the Atlantic there. That is the Great South Bay.
Great video👍 So cool I live close by & ride my bike down there all the time.. I’m sure someone already told ya but that’s not the ocean 🌊 It’s the Great South Bay.. It’s about 3 miles wide across there & then the Fire Island barrier beaches and then the Atlantic.. You can see the bridges going across when there’s no fog 😁
Babylon is on the Great South Bay. Too bad it was so foggy - you would have been able to see the bridge that crosses the bay to Fire Island and the Atlantic Ocean. Thanks, I enjoyed the video 👍🏻
It's only 10:30 hours... Give it time, it'll dissipate some. What's been happening out here for the last week or so there's no matter what kind of weather we have to do today it's been some kind of rain at night. So that means all the grass and everything is Misty and foggy and everything is rising up and you would think at 10:30 in the morning it'll be cleared out but no, you're on the water literally. If the clouds don't move yet you gotta wait for the sun a bit. It'll be coming soon cuz it's blazing out here, plus my brothers in Northport would you like a few towns away and he says it's getting better by him keep hope AK keep hope AK!
IF you know anyone who's into Janis Joplin... Pick up tickets for that show! Amber Ferrari is the singer for Janis Pearl. I saw her perform once about 5 years ago, at an outdoor concert commemorating Woodstock. She totally blew me away, and I'm hard to impress cuz I used to sing.
AT NIGHT...they have it set up with some noise and lights. They used to have it during the day but then people complained because it was bringing too much traffic to the neighborhood. So now they just do it for a couple hours at night time.
I’m From Babylon, you did a great job with the tour, except for there was a lot of things that you were not aware of that were around the area that you walked through and if the fog wasn’t so thick, you could’ve seen the bridge that leads over to Ocean Parkway. The Babylon docks I go crabbing there all the time I was born and raised in the town of Babylon 58 years ago. If you want any more information PM me then I will let you know.
La Famiglia IS great food if you want to check it out later cuz I know you said you ate. If you want to bring some bagels back... Get them quick from that bagel place you saw~they close up early here ON LI, they are good over there. You'll be lucky if you can find a GOOD bagel spot open after 3 PM on any day~you have to be home by sundown and many the owners who are Jewish are still very involved remember? So they'll be there Sunday just not Saturday the customers, but it's an early day on Sunday. Even out by me, my oldest standing bagel place you're lucky to get past 3:00. La Famiglia WILL treat you like family, a bit expensive but the food is really good
Heyyyy AK! I used to live in West Babylon! How cool is it that you're out here? You need to come to EAST MEADOW NEXT! Eisenhower Park is actually larger than Central Park! IN GARDEN CITY NOW... CUZ it didn't exist THEN~WE have the Air and Space Museum. But since Garden City's ljnes were moved decades ago.... That's how they ended up having that. Originally East Meadow has been here by I believe almost 200 YEARS before garden City existed. It was ONLY awhile after WW2 that things changed. We used to "OWN THE HUB" of where the Mitchell Field Air Field was and & my Popo was stationed... AND my college campus is part of. The airfield was here still until the early 1960'S it was only closed because of noise complaints. Come to EISENHOWER PARK~Go to the FIELD HOUSE. IN FRONT on the pathway you'll see a green arrow, yellow arrow, and a red arrow painted. IF you follow them it'll take you on a scenic 1 mile or 3 mile or 5 mile walk through the park. 😉
My employer sent me to Brookhaven for a week in March 2007 for work. i stayed an extra day, rented a car, and drove around as much of Long Island as I could see. i went to Jones Beach and all the way out to Montauk. I wanted to see some of the projects Robert Moses developed, as I read a biography of him by Robert Caro.
I'm like just wait till he gets up a little bit further! Ppl come from around LI to see this house cuz it's done really well. I knew you've probably NEVER seen something so large scale as this, well at least I was hoping so because I knew once you saw the spider you be like oh man! I'M sooo happy you got to see this! ONCE you said where you were walking to...I was like I'm not going to say anything I'm just going to talk about the food and transportation and buildings I know it's going to try to contain myself about this spider! It was very hard because Halloween is MY holiday cuz it was just my birthday and I always having a party on this weekend! These types of decorations were my birthday decorations growing up....AS A LITTLE GHOUL! Yes I had to go there! 😉❤️😎💀🎃👻🕷️🕸️🦹♂️🧙♂️🧙♀️👹🧟♂️🧟♀️
IF I RECALL my directions from decades ago, the new Town Hall is on the same street but back the other way, you should have made a left at that corner and it is on the left hand side further up if I recall correctly. I haven't ridden those buses in ages because I haven't lived there in forever. Actually I was very surprised to see a bus in the video because buses DON'T RUN IN SUFFOLK COUNTY usually on Sunday, with the exception of very few. The one I used to take was actually a NASSAU COUNTY bus and it ENDS AT the Babylon LIRR tracks. That's where I'd connect to go between counties, the N72 is the only bus that goes between Nassau and Suffolk. Babylon LIRR is where the double decker train STARTS going East... Your next stop is BAYSHORE. I used to live on Park Ave, right off the LIRR parking lot. The vans for Fire Island used to be there all the time and that's where THE NYC JITNEY drops off and switches over. So...back to this Town Hall... Trust me not missing anything wonderful you need to find the arches everybody takes pictures.

I really enjoyed watching this. My great, great grandfather was born in Babylon. He came to Australia in 1850’s. Does anyone know what records are available for the area regarding who lived in the town, especially African Americans and Native Americans?
Another nice walking tour of A Long Island south shore town. But going south to the water in that part of LI does not bring you to the Atlantic Ocean. It’s the Great South Bay. The barrier islands of fire island and jones beach are on the Atlantic.
Thank you He was calling the bay the Ocean Not a typical island person I was gonna send a review about it so thank you Did hear how he said Smithtown!?
I am not sure why I’m watching this since I live here😂 but it’s interesting to hear your perspective. It’s a cute village, I just wish they’d prioritize historic preservation (a lot of buildings from the 18th & 19th century have been torn down in recent times).
You CAN fish there AND besides it's natural yellow perch that live there and other species...it's also stocked with trout from the Dept of Environmental Conservation.

I love that you came to my home town!! I wish I would have seen you. 😊 I hope you enjoyed and you are welcome back anytime!! 🎃🎃🎃
Good stroll with you, thanks
Fancy Lee btw is a great place to eat!
I grew up on Long Island love it!!
Amityville, here
great place to grow up in the '70's but sooooo glad I left
This is the place I'd really love to live, it's so beautiful here
I grew up here in the village, lot's more that you missed but definitely a nice place to take a walk and stop to have a drink or bite to eat. Low man's closed down after 50 years of being in business and you missed (Argyle park) it's beautiful with waterfalls where Couples take their wedding pictures and they also have a craft fair Around the 5 lakes that surround the park. Definitely a great place to raise a family.
Love it when you do a video on one of these lovely east coast towns!
Thanks for the tip to town. Have fun Action kid
Babylon, Long Island is really clean
It's so funny. I just came home from walking through Babylon Village and now I'm watching it again.
Great scenic walk to a place I never knew existed.
OMG My old stomping grounds!! I use eat lunch at the lake everyday
That explains why it looks that way! I like that the facade has been preserved, it keeps the look of the village
It was a diner until the 1990s. Called the Highway Diner
I grew up here, small town with a lot of people but always has good vibes🤙🤙
Good call! Hope you had a great day!
My Aunt and Uncle live in Amityville, also another cool little town to explore
I live a town over in west islip. Love going into babylon around argyle
It looks so beautiful!
Nice and informational premier , i appereciate 🙂Nice looking houses and stores and restaurants , thank you for sharing A K 🙂👍!!!
Beautiful neighborhood!
So nice village !!!
Great Video thoroughly enjoyed it, please do Bay Shore next if you can ?? By the way, you said in Long Island, It is ON Long Island.
Would love to see a Shoreham tour!
I COMPLETELY like that when you're in Babylon in Long Island Actionkid!
Anyone from Long Island will tell you it's ON Long Island, never IN Long Island.. lol
Beautiful (typically American) small town!
I think those cities haven't really changed since the 1980s, which is cool!
its a dream suburb to live...its a beautifull place
Babylon is on the Great South Bay. Too bad it was so foggy - you would have been able to see the bridge that crosses the bay to Fire Island and the Atlantic Ocean. Thanks, I enjoyed the video 👍🏻
So pretty.❤️❤️ Reminds me of a Hallmark Channel town❤️ As always thanks for sharing.
Yes, that is exactly what I am thinking..I love Hallmarks Christmas movies * my mom and I watch one just about every night during the holidays 🤟💫🎀
Trust me it’s not. Way too expensive, too much racism, and not enough snow.
Hello! I like it, really like it, the landscape in this area. Thank you for this beautiful video. All the best! Aleksandr /Russia/
Nice surprise! I grew up in Babylon village!
And I came from North Babylon and moved to Florida a year and a half ago I missed Babylon Village a lot I want to come home
You should go to Tanner Park in Copiague it’s a few towns over you can see the ocean so much better and they have bands and shows.
If you went north from the Conklin house just beyond the railroad tracks, across the street is a great (big) Irish pub called Lily Flannigan’s.🍀
My hometown!!!
My office is in the village, across from village hall and the fire department. At 20:00
IF you know anyone who's into Janis Joplin...
The fog is from the still warmer waters than the cooler air temp the waters a block away i was born in amityville grew up in babylon
It's not the atlantic ocean it's the great south bay then fire island other side of fire island is the atlantic
Very quaint it resembles parts of Nantucket
Love Eisenhower Park! Grew up going there a lot as a kid. I’m from Uniondale. 😊
glad your back, i quit watching when you went to FL, didn't know you were back until i saw this in my youtube feed... welcome back.
Hey AK! What's up? Wow!Village of Babylon! Kinda really decent!!!
Que lugar lindo 😍
My employer sent me to Brookhaven for a week in March 2007 for work. i stayed an extra day, rented a car, and drove around as much of Long Island as I could see. i went to Jones Beach and all the way out to Montauk. I wanted to see some of the projects Robert Moses developed, as I read a biography of him by Robert Caro.
19:25 French onion soup.... Yippee like at my home
dude no wayyy ur near my neighborhood
I WAS JUST WAITING! 😂
The new town hall is up on Sunrise Highway just west of NY-109.
Translation: Hi, my name is Mariela and I live in the southern hemisphere in a country called Uruguay. I've been seeing you for quite some time. You have a natural talent for filming, today I am seeing at this moment the wonder of that place, everything goes together perfectly, the houses and the fog, I must tell you that it is spectacular, congratulations, I write in Spanish because my English is not very good. Hugs.
@@kryptoknight. Muchas gracias.
My aunt n uncle lived there .i wud go in the 60's there xmas spend week there.had cous. .all gone now...
Thank you
He was calling the bay the Ocean
Not a typical island person
I was gonna send a review about it so thank you
Did hear how he said Smithtown!?
I am not sure why I’m watching this since I live here😂 but it’s interesting to hear your perspective. It’s a cute village, I just wish they’d prioritize historic preservation (a lot of buildings from the 18th & 19th century have been torn down in recent times).
I will be there on Friday
You should come to Patchogue NY
And the you can take the ferry over to Davis Park
Argyle bar is historic. I was hoping you were gonna go in.
We used to live next door to the Whore of Babylon -- just like the Book of Revelations.
Did you miss Argyle Park just past the fire dept? Famous waterfall for wedding pics.
What a beautiful peaceful neighborhood !!!! This is definitely not the Bronx
did you see the little squirrel at 29:33?
I have to go to Babylon tomorrow lol.
Have a good day
You CAN fish there AND besides it's natural yellow perch that live there and other species...it's also stocked with trout from the Dept of Environmental Conservation.
Supreme Philly Cheesesteak makes at 1:23 makes very good cheesesteaks
Nice video..I was in the erea visiting some friends..the day you was filming this video.. can you tell me the camera you are using..? Its gives a very clear footage.
Was that a crossing guard?
DUUUDE NO FREAKING WAY im literally here in Bab
We just migrated here to the US less than a year and were so blessed to live here in Babylon. We were supposed to be in the city. Good thing there’s a change of plan, I wouldn’t have it the other way. The safety of my kid is our priority and we felt really safe here. Everyone is so friendly! The environment is so peaceful yet it is so fun. 😊
