Connection for the dummy, thanks a lot. No one can beat the simplicity and visual scheme explanation.

Appreciate it. I struggled finding a video on how to do it searching UA-cam University, so put this together to hopefully help other DIY'ers of the world

I was hoping to find how to actually wire in on the compressor side. I opened the box and don't see obvious place for my wires to go. I have 80 gallon northstar new.

Hey Dave, your air compressor should be very similar to mine except the power distribution box is mounted on the side. Remove the cover of the box and at the top, just above the 50a breaker, you'll see 3 set screws, this where the wires connect. The set screw on the left is L1 (black wire connection from SOOW ) and the middle set screw is L2 (white wire connection from SOOW) and remaining the green wire from the SOOW cable (you'll need to add some type of terminal to it) can be grounded to the same screw as the green wire ground already in the box.
Only 3 wires are needed to make this connection. If the wire you are using has 4 wires, just put a wire nut the 1 unused wire.
Most of all DO NOT wire it directly to the pressure switch like some of the smaller model compressors, this will burn up the motor.
Hope this helps and thanks again for watching!

@@projectx2.718 don't want to sound dumb but iust never seen this set up before and the manual just says call electrician. I know a lot but how to wire but I admit this double looking breaker confused me with no obvious place that looked open. I sent pick of my box, anyway u would mark where you think it goes. I haven't bought wire yet so guess I just get 6/2?

@@projectx2.718 tend to send pic but couldn't find option. Anyway it has a black breaker and a white one bridged together.

@@davidshouse7347 That bridged breaker on the compressor you mentioned is the 50amp breaker and where you'll make connection coming from the power panel, you'll need to add a (bridged) double pole 50amp breaker in your power panel for the power source.
Starting from power panel using 6/2 cable you'll connect the black wire to one pole of the 50a breaker the white wire to the other pole of the breaker and bare copper ground to the ground bar in the panel. At the receptacle you'll tie together the bare ground from the panel to both the metal connection box and the new receptacle at the "G" connection. The black wire connects to the "X" and the white wire goes to the "Y". Next using 6/3 SOOW portable cable make connections at the plug, black to "X", white to "Y", green to "G". At the other end of the SOOW cable that connects to the compressor where the 50a breaker is you mentioned, back out the left and middle set screws and connect black to the black, white to the white and the green (ground) wire will need a connector added to the end and it can be installed to the same spot as the existing ground wire that's already in the box.
I got you covered Dave, I had my electrical inspection this morning (and passed), I'll post a video later this afternoon that shows the entire electrical run from panel-to-compressor and how I did it. And if you find this helpful all I'll ask for in return is please hit the like button on the video and subscribe to the channel.
Best of luck and have a great one!

I just got a Eaton 10hp 1 phase 80gal compressor and the power distribution box is different from yours. They dont have a wiring manual which makes it difficult to wire it up. Inside the power distribution box it also have a thermo protector hooked up to the top block which has the 1L1 and 3L2 slots. Do you know if can still hook up the black and white wires into 1L1 and 3L2 for this setup?
