- The hinge rig is one of the most versatile rigs for presenting a pop up. Using a chod section for the hook bait, enabling incredible presentation, whilst coupling up with a boom section allowing it to be used on either a lead clip set up or helicopter set up, it can be used for ANY lakebed! If fishing over a bottom littered with debris; a long, soft boom section such as Camotex Soft can be used - however - if fishing over a harder, firm lakebed, a short section of Camotex Stiff can be used for the boom.
Here is a step by step guide on how to tie this rig from scratch!

It's a banger of a rig! No need for the whipping knot though. That would just complicate it for someone just learning to tie a simple choddy.
Always fish stiff hooklinks now, instead of changing stiffness I just change lead arrangement. Clean hard - lead clip / soft weedy or unknown - Heli
just getting back in to it looks like a winner the proof of the pudding.

I've just purchased the camotex soft and every time I tighten down the knot it breaks the coating. It even recommends to remove the coating before tying knots how come you didn't remove the coating to tie the knot

I for one can't be arsed making the chod section, I just get pre tied ones.
