Once again Wobbler gave the prog rock world another masterpiece. I've listened to this album so many times and with each listen it gets better and better. Beautiful mix of heavy, symphonic, eclectic music makes this album in my opinion one of the best prog albums of all time. After they made From silence to somewhere I could not wait to see what will they do next and now after hearing this album I know this band is only getting better. I will not compare them to any of the classic 70's bands I will only say that Wobbler now has their own trademark sound. By the banks is the greatest album opener ever, that riff made my mind explode it's so heavy and it welcomes you to a unforgettable journey, Five rooms is a unstoppable prog force, brilliant drumming and amazing bass playing, Naiad Dreams is a great passage to epic 19 minutes Merry Macabre fantastic closer, the end of the song is a perfect end of this perfect album.
Hey Pete, want to thank you for bringing me to listen to Wobbler; incredible new music for someone like myself that likes a variety of different genres of Rock and Jazz; love Wobblers Keyboard laden material. You have NEVER failed me on recomendations for new material and old. Thanks.😎
Cool! You actually got me into these guys earlier this year. I bought "From Silence..." and have been listening to it a ton the last six months or so. Thanks, Pete!
I received the CD yesterday but I bought the audio files on Bandcamp to tie me over until I received the CD. As I own all five of their albums I have to say this by far their most intense albums they ever did, it really blew me away. I can see why they included "Naiad Dreams" as that's a short mellow piece to give you a breather after the intensity of the previous piece and get you ready for "Merry Macabre". These guys really played their ass off on this album, it's like they're playing like there's no tomorrow. As 2020 is almost over it's probably safe to say this is the prog album of the year. Not only that but it may become one of my all-times favorites sitting there with the best '70s releases.
First off - Pete, how about your opinion on The Flower Kings newest “Islands”. Wobbler, VERY Yes like. Reminds me of Yes’ “Tales” and “Relayer” period. Some pretty amazing syncopated drum work as well. What Phil Collins would do on early Genesis albums. VERY good album from Wobbler!! Possibly their strongest yet!
Pete, thanks for bringing attention to bands like Wobbler. My personal fave band from Norway is Airbag but I have a ton of respect for Wobbler as well.
I ordered the LP today on the strength of your review. Never heard this band and looking forward to it. The first three records appear to be hard to get hold of at a reasonable price!
Thanks for the recommendation, Pete. As a result of this video, I checked out the first song on the album and you are correct. I heard "Drama" and "Relayer" eras of YES in the music. I need to get a physical copy of this album! The music was a great distraction from all of the Election 2020 hubbub!
Verrrrrrry excited about this one! I've been a fan since their maiden voyage, I've listened as they morphed into a Yes soundalike and was very thrilled when they returned to that classic Scandanavian sound of the 70s...to these ears the melancholic, long dark winter sounds of Scandanavian prog at its finest is 2nd to none. Thinking Sinkadus, Anglagard and Anekdoten but also other shades and colors like Flasket Brinner, Kebnekaise and International Harvester...
Pete, Wobbler’s work is quite astounding. ‘Five Rooms’ and ‘By The Banks’ are my favorite pieces on this particular recording. “Dwellers Of The Deep” is my favorite Wobbler studio album, also.
The album sounds like a more proggy Starcastle. Maybe my favourite prog album of the year with the last Flower Kings ("Islands") and French TV ("Stories Without Fingerprints").
An awesome year for Norwegian bands! Motorpsycho - The All Is One Ring van Möbius - The 3rd Majesty ...and this new Wobbler album of course. Wobbler never disappoints, just like Motorpsycho.
This album is perfect. The songs, the track order, production value. Five Rooms starts up after the mini epic By The Banks and I swear I tear up every time. It's Wobbler's Roundabout but more like a religious experience than just an aural experience. Naiad Dreams is a low key song but very fitting and catchy, it's no filler tune for sure. The Merry Macabre epic takes us home. My only regret is that I have to regulate myself not to listen to this album too often for fear I'll get tired of it. I want every listen to be as awesome as the first. That said, I'm off to listen to it again. Doh! Can't help myself.
This is a bit embarrassing, I'm Norwegian and I'm a prog rock fan. I've never heard of Wobbler. Embarrassing! Fantastic music. Thank you very much Peter.
Gotta agree its superb and one of best releases of the year. Five Rooms is awesome and so very much like early Yes, but with there own take. Check out the video on You tube of that track.
This came in the mail a few days ago and I listened to it fo the first time yesterday evening. I'm enjoying it so far with more yet to come I'm sure. 👍✌
i brought this and it arriving today. thank you to bring this to my attention. i have also got ac/dc new release and paul mccartneys new release and testaments new album all coming today
Very retro, not progressive but they do what they do and the music is great, I love them. I brought into them from the start, loved the first album. Went a bit off them when the vocals went all Jon Anderson but stuck with them because the music was still good. I've got used to the vocals and the last two albums are wonderful, I love them
A ranking video of Wobbler's albums would be nice

The guitarist on this album Marius Halleland was actually my teacher in 10th grade
Pretty sweet
^^^This strapping young lad was actually my student when he was in 10th grade. Really nice and cool guy :D

@@stuartraybould6433 Awesome!!
Your description of their inspirations made me go to Apple Music right away to add them to my growing list, Pete
Cool! You actually got me into these guys earlier this year. I bought "From Silence..." and have been listening to it a ton the last six months or so. Thanks, Pete!
I'm excited to check this out. I hadn't heard of the group before, but by your description of them, they hit all the bells and whistles I love!

Will check out. Prog album of the year for me so far is Fireworker by Gazpacho, also from Norway.

Have been listeining to their last 2 albums...fantastic....you are a great teacher Pete
Fantastic Album, maybe my favorite of the Year. Thanks for the review, I never miss your videos on prog related topics!!!
Thanks for sharing Pete! I picked this album up at the end of the 2020 and have enjoyed it ever since.

Thanks for making me aware of this release Pete. Have all their previous albums which are excellent, but they have surpassed themselves with this one.
Pete,

I'd say the vocals are closer to Terry than Jon for sure.
An awesome year for Norwegian bands!
Motorpsycho - The All Is One
Ring van Möbius - The 3rd Majesty

The All is One is great!
All fantastic albums, prog at it's best.
As you say Pete, the more you listen, the more you get out of it; that's Wobbler, and this is another great album.
My first introduction to this band!! Love it!
I really enjoyed this album! Wobbler is the best thing going when it comes to modern 70’s style prog!
Just ordered my copy yesterday. Nothing like hearing a new Wobbler album.

New one for me Pete .very Yes influenced I like them.

This is a bit embarrassing, I'm Norwegian and I'm a prog rock fan. I've never heard of Wobbler. Embarrassing! Fantastic music. Thank you very much Peter.
Excellent album! Wobbler have been unstoppable since "Rites at Dawn".
Gotta agree its superb and one of best releases of the year. Five Rooms is awesome and so very much like early Yes, but with there own take. Check out the video on You tube of that track.

Pendragon - Love Over Fear. Another great progressive album from 2020.
Not heard them Pete but will check them out Great review 🎶🎶
Tremendous stuff!!!
On order since preorder day 2.
Yes, quite a great album. Sounds a bit too Yes but i still dig it although I'm partial to their 1st 2 records.
I agree ~ the first 2 are the best...but I am very fond of them all.
Willy Wobbler
Did you get a haircut?
Yep
I'm hearing more Yes - Time And A Word era. Previous album I was hearing more Drama era Yes.
