so you honestly believe that since it was shown for half a second in Rogue one, it is the reason behind them adding it in the game? nothing to do with the fact that they have a LOT of Rebels Ships, and it was shown WAY more and in fact, i believe Saw's U-Wing was ONLY shown in Rebels.... i dont remember HIS being in R1...... if it is in Rogue One, i seriously doubt its the Reason behind this release.... it gets WAY more screen time on Rebels.... "Why" its in the game...
They have a serious bias in stats and releases for Disney stuff. But when clone wars comes out they are going to very quickly realize just how many people love prequels over sequels
The X wing mod is interesting. I assume the idea is, when you're not able to attack, you can close them, and using boost and 2 greens you can turn much better and go faster. Then when in attack you get stupidly sick Sharp K turns and Barrel roll. You could always just do upgrade cards for boost or roll but this works as both with no cost and bonus buffs that are nice to see.
Nice one as always. I totally agree, I was really looking forward to a Blue Squadron expansion. Being able to field Merrick as Blue Leader alongside the other squadron leaders would have been epic. Not least against a field of Strikers and Reapers. To be quite honest, that's the only thing that would have gotten me back into the game. Ah well....
I feel like knowing that second edition is going to give us better Y-Wings is exciting, and alleviates the disappointment of not getting Blue Squadron ships.
As always I really like your reviews. As a casual player (and Star Wars fan) I really really hate that FFG abandon this and restarts with a second edition. They seem to do this with all their popular games, and it's really annoying and expensive if you have bought everything from the 1st ed already. I had the same problem with Descent and Mansions of Madness. MoM didn't even get better in 2nd ed... I understand the x-wing 2.0 from a tournament perspective, but I don't like it at all as a casual player. Imagine if WotC made Magic 2.0... haha - that just wouldn't work... FFG should have found another way...
For casual players, there's no real requirement to buy into second edition; you can just keep playing first edition. Of course there won't be any new ships but that's not really a huge issue - there are a ton of ships out there and you could easily play for years and years and not come close to exhausting the squadron options available.
Really? As a casual player I'm stoked for 2.0 Each upgrade kit has everything I need in it. You can proxy, models with this! Take an X-Wing from the original core set and toss any other ship's cardboard and wheel with it and it's now that ship. Play Empire only? You can get Palpatine for $50 instead of $100. And he comes with the cardboard and dials to fly any 2.0 ship you want, using the above method.
I don't get this mindset from other casual players? (I'm a casual player myself, I collect one of each ship for each faction with some exceptions like TIES or Z's where I got multiple) I'm excited to get 2.0 Palpatine without buying the Raider and being able to proxy MODELS. Same thing for all the other factions. Nearly all the cardboard and wheels, nearly all upgrades and pilots for every ship from 1.0 for $150 spread in $50 installments is freaking awesome.
Well, I have lots of ships from all 3 factions, so I would have to buy more than one upgrade kit for each faction if I jump on the 2.0 train. I don't like to pay all that money for the ships I already have, I don't like the changes, and I don't like that the app is more or less required (I rarely like apps for boardgames). That's just my opinion about it. As I said in my original post, I wish that they (FFG) had chosen another way of "fixing" the problems for tournament players (as a casual player I never saw any problems with this game). I mean WotC have "fixed" Magic TG several times for tournaments and more professional players and it's been around from 1993 without a 2.0., and you can still often play with the cards from 25 years ago together with newer cards without problems (yes, the rules have changed a bit and cards are restricted and banned, but basically it is the same game). I think that FFG could have done something like that for tournaments and professional players. This 2.0 thing seems to me more like a way of making more money than making a better game (it's by the way not wrong to make money, but as I have said more than once, they could have chosen another path). Cheers!
I had to put in a service request to get my X-Wing replaced. Open or closed, it made no difference. The wings just settle back towards somewhere in the middle. Your model seems to be a bit closer to their intention, though. So maybe the replacement they send me will be fine. I like the attempt to give us moving S-Foils, but I'm not sure the end result was really worth the effort.
From what I've heard, the rebel X-Wings coming when 2.0 releases work much better. I'm getting the impression that the wave 14 second edition content is more or less a beta version. There are some errata on the cards (one still refers to the Combat phase which doesn't exist in second edition). I hope it's true because I'm not super impressed with the Renegades X-Wing either.
The Cardboard Dungeon I do appreciate the effort of moving towards moving pieces. Could be in a trial and error stage. But I hope the 2.0 ones are better.
Some guy did a tutorial about how to fix the Xwing. You have to cut it apart and remove a ton of the glue and then it works fine. I wont be doing that personally.
I’m a little confused about this pack at the moment. The x-wing pilots and dial are for a standard x-wing but the upgrade cards are all for a t-65 x-wing. So is the x-wing intended to be treated as a t-65 or what? If anyone in the comments can clear this up for me I’d greatly appreciate it
Yep. Original X-Wings are T-65s. It's doesn't say that anywhere on the cards but that's the intent. In Second Edition, which launches next week, they are called T-65 X-Wings so any confusion is removed.

Great review. I thought, though, this exapnsion came with tiles and pieces to be converted for the second edition? Meaning you would not need the rebel conversion kit for this set.
I would buy the HELL out of this, if they hadn't announced 2nd Edition. Not about to waste $40 on an expansion I'll only get to play for a few short months.
Second edition content (cards, plastic) is included in these expansions. I'm splitting the content into separate videos, so look for the second edition review soon!
The Cardboard Dungeon Oh OK, I thought it was already out. Haven’t been playing since the winter, so have not bought anything since the imperial gun boat came out.
The Cardboard Dungeon I just sought in another UA-cam video that there are upgrade kits for first addition a second addition. How about a show on those as well?
Yes it would. You'd need to buy five copies of this expansion, or find someone willing to sell the extra pilot cards, to run it legally. $150 to see the expression on an opponents fave when you line up five large bases might be worth it though...
I miss this channel
Lol you can hear the sarcasm in his voice every time he mentions how long we have left until 2.0
It's hard for me to even think about 1.0. My brain is trying to forget everything it knows about TLTs and harpoon missiles...
The Cardboard Dungeon Oh I genuinely agree. Can't wait because my Defender has one more hull!!!!!!! So happy!!!!!!
Cameron Schmid my wallet has a similar view of 2.0.
this U-Wing and X-Wing were shown on Rebels..... thats why.... ;)
Yeah, that's true. I forgot about them showing up in Rebels :)
the X wing was a background part in Rouge One, before it showed up in Rebels

Glad to see you're still doing videos on X-Wing. Great job, as always ;-)
Thank you!

I sold my standard white U-Wing because i didn't like the paintjob. This U-Wing looks awesome
They needed a way to get rid of u-wing backstock.
This is probably 100% accurate. Hey, maybe U-Wings in second edition will be really good.
I do like that support ships seem to be actually useful as support and you cant just string actions with fighters now.

Can't wait for the Reaper vid. :) And your 2.0 discussions.

Just Some Guy Ok I did it, watched the video and followed the steps. It was super easy, just took 20 minutes of tedious wiggling.

This is true, and I'll be covering that content in a separate video in the near future :)
Great job! Dont fear the Reaper!
I would buy the HELL out of this, if they hadn't announced 2nd Edition. Not about to waste $40 on an expansion I'll only get to play for a few short months.
Retro-Matic Gamer I’m pretty sure it has 2.0 versions of the pilots and everything
If you want all 2.0 rebel pilots and upgrades, you'll have to pick this up

I miss Phase one of this game.
Does this set come with 1.0 and 2.0 parts ?
Can you do a video on X-Wing second edition?
Yes! Probably when it gets a little closer to release. There are still some things about it that aren't fully known.
The Cardboard Dungeon Oh OK, I thought it was already out. Haven’t been playing since the winter, so have not bought anything since the imperial gun boat came out.

haha.. 5 U-wings would be kinda hilarious.

its would be realy op
You could borrow them from friends?
Are you going to be covering 2.0 content for everything?
I'd like to. We'll see how it goes :)
Nice video
Thanks!
Neat.
First comment, also love the vids, keep it up
Thanks!
