This is not only an informative video, but an extremely relaxing one to watch! The images are kind of mesmerizing, and combined with your calm, soothing-toned voices and the background guitar, you helped to make my not-so-great night at work last night (retail) fade away like magic...thanks, I needed that. 🧡
I can tell just how you love what you're doing. Kudos to you for making all the effort for a project like this. The milling, the woodwork the editing? Just wow! Thank you for sharing your vid!
Thanks! This is the first video ive been inspired by to start some builds! I like your screw/dowel concepts rather than having to do ridiculous dovetail joint nonsense!
Just noticed the Johnny Cash Pkwy sign on the wall...nice! And, yes, I watched it yet again...lol. I love noticing new things every time I see these videos, and the background music is relaxing (as I've apparently stated before...lol...although, this time, I really noticed the trumpet...hmm...). Love you guys for sharing these, wish you had time to make more! ❤
Man..I was not sure how expert you were until I saw you handling the hand saw with right and left hand alternatively, making the circle, effortlessly. 🙌🙌 I just wish I could hear how it sounds tho...
😂 I watch this whole video and I was bitching and complaining about it and saw this. It's like saying hey I made this trumpet but I'm not going to show you how it sounds 😂
Nice build. You should perhaps build another so you could tell folks how you dimension the cab to provide the required cubic inches behind the speaker, as in the book included with the speaker,it makes a large sound difference if you get it wright. You might want to consider a thin weather strip around the frame that the back fastens to,to eliminate rattle. When I started building Leslie speakers I took the Yamaha sound course. I learned a lot but you have the most important part....the will to get up and do it.. Could I ask why you didn't mount the speakers from the front, that way you could have sealed the back making the cab that much stronger. THANK YOU for sharing. I look forward to more videos and sound tests.
I was left wondering why you didn't use either a rabbit, or a dove tail joint, either of which you could still use the added dowel rods to enhance the strength of the assembled panels. I used just the dove tail the last cabinet build I did (over 35 years ago) and its still as strong as ever.
Buy your speakers first. This video is missing a great amount of info on how to figure the dimensions of the cab for a given speaker. When I got my prolabs the book that was in the box tells you how many cubic inches there should be behind the speaker to get the best sound.
Also nice would have been a brief explanation of why you installed two separate jacks, and thus allowing for the use of one or two speaker at different impedance. Nice feature.
It doesn't seem to be that sort of wiring. The speakers are already parallel to each other, and it makes it impossible to connect to only one of them using the jacks. Wiring should be completely different.
Very nice. It's hard to find combo amps or cabs that are 2x10. Most all of them are 2x12 or 1x12. What was the total weight of the cab when you finished. I'm older now so weight is a big factor in buying amps. Thanks
I'm about to make one myself but 4x12. Are there things i should take into account so that the speakers are compatible with the head? Can i maybe mix brands of the speakers or use 2 bassguitar speakers with lower frequency range sothat i could use it as a guitar/bassguitar cabinet?
appreciate the video! as others have noted, would really have been nice to at least get a sound sample (I know, differs based on speaker type/size, open back vs. closed back, amp, and settings, so many variables...), but still...going this far and not hearing it is like watching an adult movie and but then cutting out the money shot....
Hey great video. I'm building one 1x12 and I want to know how do you kept in place the frame with the grill cloth. I didn't see you used screws or glue. Hope you can answer me. Thank in advance.
Eltagima Tagima we used Baltic birch ply with a few scrap pieces of cheapo stuff that was laying around. I’m not sure what the paint is, it was leftover from years ago and I wasn’t sure it was even going to still be good. It seems to be holding up though.
When it comes to recording metal. I prefer the tight punch of a closed back for the rhythm guitar and the more spacious feel of the open back for the leads.
That was incredible! Were there any specific sonic reasons you went with the dimensions for the cabinet? That's essentially exactly what I'm thinking of making. Thanks 😁
Elsif I did some reading but couldn’t find much on guitar amp cabs. I went with a conventional fender style size and then gave it a bit more bulk in the back
Turned out really nice! I've been trying to finish a 2*12 myself, and I'm wondering how you attached your grill? I see how you've stapled the speaker grill material, but next part of video shows it in place...how did you secure that? Is it attached somehow or just pushed in place fitting snug due to the speaker grill material? Maybe velcro? i can't tell and am trying to figure it out on mine, so the grill doesn't just pop out when playing , or when transporting the cab
Most companies attach the grill frame to the speaker baffle with some industrial velcro on the backside corners of the grill cloth frame. This way you can remove it if you want to get a mic close on the speaker or if your grill cloth rips and needs to be replaced.
A long time ago, without your genius cad, cutter designer...etc., (big compliment as the cutter blew my mind, Props my man), I duplicated a Music man 2 X 12 cab installing ElectroVoice SRO's 12L (monsters). Again, didn't know what I was doing, worked out. I did goof however on the back, routing the cab so small that the connector broke through. My question, where did you purchase the connector, why did you use 2? I ran two wires from one speaker to the other (polarity???) then soldered to connector, and connected to one of the speaker. Does that sound right? (I'm lucky because it worked). Thank you for the video, cab excellent.
Thanks James. I got my connector from www.stewmac.com I think. I used 2 in case I wanted to chain a second cab to this one. I wired the speakers up this way because acording to OHMs law 2 8ohms speakers in parallel will have a resistance of 4 ohms. www.physicsclassroom.com/class/circuits/Lesson-3/Ohm-s-Law . You don't have to go nuts with the math, most guitar amps don't want less than about 4 OHMs. the less OHMs the louder the amp.
I just wired a second jack in case I wanted to chain a second speaker to it. It will double the resistance so I will have to pay attention to the amp I want to use. It will stay a mono signal but sometimes a second speaker can make it sound huge.
Hey guys I just listened to step back. Damn I'd put that on the stereo any time. My customers would flip for your sound. How do I get a cd or three? That would be great for the lunch crowd and early evening folks.Rock a billy and pig roast keeps us full Friday and Saturday. Sunday afternoons I could grind the grooves off your disk and not hear any bitching.
I used something like this www.cabinetmakerwarehouse.com/catalog/amana-tool-corner-rounding-2-flute-49504/ it came in a set so Im not exactly what size, but i picked one that would round about 1/3 of the thickness. i did a few test cut on some scrap wood first. If you make a cabinet with plywood and you want to round the edges, try to get baltic birch i think it'll chip out a lot less.
Great job, inspiring to see a cab being handmade. My question is why are 410 cabs so uncommon for guitars? I remember playing a classic 50 a long time ago, 4x10 speakers and I loved it. Cheers
Probably because the screw heads would show through the goop he used to cover it with. You could always just putty them over before applying the covering goop, though.
That was cruel to watch all that then hear you say, “Let’s hear how it sounds!” and then end the video...😂😂😂. So...can we hear how it sounds? This is EXACTLY what I want to build, I just don’t have all those tools, but I will make due. Do you have plans for this that are accessible? thanks for doing the video! 👍👍
I know im randomly asking but does anybody know of a tool to log back into an Instagram account..? I was stupid forgot my login password. I would love any help you can offer me.
@Brian Sonny Thanks so much for your reply. I got to the site thru google and im waiting for the hacking stuff atm. Seems to take quite some time so I will reply here later with my results.
I’m sorry I misunderstood. I’m not sure if I’m willing to make them for sale yet, I need to think about that. It would have to be quite a bit more money then $55. Where are you located? And check out monotone .com, They make some really great cabinets.
Great cabinet ! And saves money on buying a store bought cab. All you need is $5000 in wood working tools and eguipment !

Great job!!! Thanks for the inspiration.
You must be an engineer! I love the cab but im interested in the CNC machining tool you made. Amazing!
You HAD to stop short of playing. Good job making it. You built the cab similar to how I do it.
A Happy Gilmore ref? Totally subbing lol

Awesome video, did I miss the material or plans sheets for cut sizes?
Got a like for the 'Happy Gilmore' making me spray my rice crispies. 😆
Use a hair dryer or a heat gun on a low setting moving around the front of the grill and the material will shrink and tighten up nice and snug.
Very nice.
Every band must have a Sean Kelley!
Can u do a custom mark bass cabinet the 151p where the combo amp would be
How did you come up with the dimensions/volume for the box?
Really excellent video. Have one question? What did you use to secure the grill cover to the front of the baffle?
Andy, and Matt...... We've seen your handy work, we've seen you play....How about a few videos oh...say "Rig-Rundown" Live shows....and studio setup.
How did you attach the board with the speaker fabric on it to the amp?
I've been thinking 2x10 for my Princeton, Champ as well as Ampeg sb12n head and Fender Esquire.
It's always good to have a few options

Why did you use every bolt hole in the speakers? Ive only ever seen 2 at top and 2 at bottom. Is there s tonal reason?
Dude...Ya gotta put your name on the front! Great video.
Hello Man. Can I ask you how much is the diameter of the holes for 10 inch speakers? Thanks
I could have missed something, but did you post the dimensions you used for this cab?
Why did you decide not to have finger joints, was it because you didn't want them or because you didn't have the tools to make it with them?
Hey great video.
I'm building one 1x12 and I want to know how do you kept in place the frame with the grill cloth. I didn't see you used screws or glue. Hope you can answer me. Thank in advance.
I had the same question....I'm assuming Velcro....so it can be remved to replace speakers easily....
I'm having trouble finding a wiring harness for less than $50 + shipping to Canada, if I do it myself, what kind of wires do I need?
Seems to me........ #8 wood screws would be stronger than a small wood dowel pushed in only held by Glue only. right? Im using screws.
Whats the size of the cnc machine? Thanks...
Thanks for this planning to make my own to good thing saw this video .. what kind of wood u use ? And the duratex paint what is it?

SGT. Psilocybe good idea
should do a vertical 2x12 cab w/ wheels and side handles
Hi, can you tell me, what Product from Duratex is? Thanks so much
You might live in MA. Adams, Ma myself and I know a couple of Kellys. One plays guitar.
This Kelly is from New Mexico and lives in Nashville...good guy but loud
Whats the reasoning for using hardwood? Ive always used MDF but most of my experience comes from building sub boxes for cars

So I can’t believe you didn’t dedicate this to Sean Kelly!
The whole word is dedicated to Sean Kelly
Do you have blue prints available? I want to build a 2x10 cab.
No finger joints?
Then there's me who wants a vertical 4x12 cab hahahaha might have to build my own offset 5 foot cab

Lots of wood glue probably
He may have used a couple of screws in the back, inside cab, to attach it.
Most companies attach the grill frame to the speaker baffle with some industrial velcro on the backside corners of the grill cloth frame. This way you can remove it if you want to get a mic close on the speaker or if your grill cloth rips and needs to be replaced.

Could you give me a link to the paint you used?
Zach Courtney I’m sorry I don’t. A friend of mine left it behind a few years ago so I’m not exactly sure what it is.
I do know its vinyl based
