I just had a new boiler and thermostat fitted. I was given an ‘indi tpistat wireless thermostat’ . If you think the Honeywell is hard to work out that that! I’ve spent a week struggling with it and called the plumbers for help. The guy who gave it to me came round and even he couldn’t work it out and replaced it with the Honeywell which is a doddle to use compared to the first one I had but I still don’t know why any of them need to be so difficult to work out. It shouldn’t be this difficult! @@chriszebra7806

Oh, so agree, and so does my gas boiler chap. People are really struggling with these things apparently 😮 We had a simple manual one before but no longer available. aaaagh!
Thanks for clearing the cobwebs. I was completely bamboozled by the boiler chaps 1minute run through then just to read the instruction booklet. Your explanation/demo much appreciated-very helpful
The booklet is confusing regarding the four different programmes. All I want is to set it to come on in the morning an hour or half an hour before i get up, the rest of the day I'll use it in manual mode.
Thank you so much. My engineer looked at me like I had 2 heads when I asked him for a demo. I never usually have a programme setting programmers or reading manuals but this one is horrible. You saved my sanity!
This is so helpful, thank you. Just had mine replaced, due to it being unable to read the temp correctly. The instructions are useless and, like others, the original fitter explained it all far too fast for me. Today's engineer said it's "Typical council buying from the lowest end of the market" - total false economy, as always, due to repair costs. I'm on my third one in six months!
I'm so glad I found this video and read the comments, I told the electrician to stop right there and I will read the manual because all I heard was button button heat button button up button down button. The manual was fkn useless. I'm 30 years old so I don't think it's our fault lol. The electrician was in a rush and that manual has no instructions just tells you what the buttons are. I just figured out how to keep my heat on lol thank you
Good Video. Worth mentioning for those who have the problem where the Honeywell T3R keeps re-setting and offering the Setup Screen, Mark Ballard MTD has a good video posted 25/02/2023 that covers how to fix this. Basically, it's the spring loaded Battery Clips, that need gently prising outwards to make a better contact. This may need doing to both the visible connectors in the Battery Compartment, and also inside the unit, where the same Clips press against the Circuit Board to provide power. Those can also be set too low, so just need gently bending outwards, then re-assemble, and there should then be a good connection between Batteries and Clips, and between Clips and Circuit Board. That should stop the random Setup Screen problem. All that is happening is the connections are poor, so any movement or bump, and that breaks the flow of power, and the unit thinks it has just been turned on, so offers the Setup Screen.
Let's see if i got this right: P1 and P3 is when you want it on, you set the temperature to 20°C for example. P2 and P4 is when you want it to turn off so you set it to 10°C for example. So in auto mode you can only set it to turn on 2 times a day?
Great video and much needed! One question though ... how do we change the temperature on top reading from fahrenheit to celcius in manual mode, please? Cheers
The product specification for T3R says for the base unit "Find a suitable location near the boiler. Leave at least 30cm distance from any metal objects including wall boxes and boiler housing." May I ask why the base unit has been fitted close the side the boiler in the video?
Hi I have a 2 separate Honeywell T3R thermostats one for downstairs and one for upstairs. Downstairs thermostat in auto mode does have 6 days periods and upstairs thermostat have only 4 days periods. Question is are they a different version thermostats? Is it any possibility to change in settings on my upstairs thermostat to have 6 days periods schedule instead off 4 days periods schedule? Thank you for answer
Thanks for mentioning why the heating comes on, in an off period of Auto. I get this now (though unsure why it would do it, as you have only asked it to be on during timed sessions) and can rectify and stop waking up at 3am to a hot house. One more question; what is the point in having a temperature for P2 and P4? Surely, if they just stop it, it doesn't matter??
I’ve done everything in this video, on the actual boiler do you need to keep the dial for the heating turned on can you leave on 0 and this will turn it on automatically?
Thanks so much for this video Pete, really helpful! Have also been struggling with why rads are still on after ‘off’ time 😂 Does anyone know how to just add a 1 hour boost? Thanks.
He tells you in the video. Press the middle button once and if ‘auto’ is highlighted with the box around it press the middle button again and it jumps to manual. You then just use the up arrows to raise the temperature and the boiler will start and stay on for 1 hour.
Thanks, had one fitted this past 2 days ... couple of electricians from Gloucester gave me a 1 min demo. I remembered how to turn it off (first thing I asked) but not how to turn it on ... Always ask a scouser 😂 Don't need it till Halloween
Don't usually have an issue with user manuals, however this one was utterly hopeless. Thanks for the info about the boiler coming on during off periods. That's the bit that confused me. It's not explained at all in the manual. Great vid 👍
Thankyou, great video. Can anyone help? The boiler is on, radiators hot and current temperature rising despite the target temperature being at 5 degrees - what should I do?
Thank you very much for the information. My biggest question is when you set up the start time on the auto mode for heating how, long the heating timer last, it's 1 hour , 2 hour or etc. Thanks
Hi Faraz, if I am not wrong, you have to set your own timing, at your choice. In other words, you have to input start time and end time. I think that for end time you have to set the temp very low, otherwise it stays on continuously. This device is perverse.

From my memory of the manual, the default schedule is set at 21 degrees 6:30am to 8am. From 8am to I think 6pm its set to 18 degrees. From 6pm to 10:30pm its set to 21 degrees. And from 10:30pm to 6:30am its back to 18 degrees.
This is a confusing device! Our fitter explained the P1, P2, P3, P4 settings - they are not on and off, they set the temperature you want at different times of day. If P1 is 20 from 7am, and P2 is 18 from 9am, the boiler will keep the place at 18 degrees from 9am - this is more efficient as when P3 at 5pm wants it to be 20 degrees it doesn't have to do as much work. He described it as being like a simmer rather than a boil.

Intalled this at my dad's place, now he wants to murder me :D Anyway, i don't know if i got a bad unit or something, but just picking it up shoots the temp by 2 degrees almost instantly and then it takes it almost 20 minutes to get down. It is also firing up the boiler for like 3 minutes, then it stops. The little flame is indicating the boiler is supposed to be on but the wireless receiver says it's not. Oftentimes it turns on then turns off, then tries to turn on again but too bad the boiler has a timer to avoid those kinds of things. It's working very very weirdly, would not recoomend.
Still non the wiser
Mine doesn’t have mon-fri, the days are all individual! Bloody thing
The speaker neglected to point out that is P2 and P4 are HEATING OFF times - if you hadn’t already sussed that out!! But I have to say the user interface is about as user-friendly as a cornered rat!
Far too complicated for most people to understand.... !!
Too fast for me, a little slower please.

So silly that there’s not just an option to put it an for an hour without having to set four programmes
I understand anything 🥺
