I love that lady with the stocked cellar! I also love that she understands the difference between independence and interdependence. Having a strong community and working together to create a support network is crucial. I see too many folks thinking they can 'lone wolf' it.
We need to learn from Wolf. Not just for survival in the woods, but in case of natural disasters or no access to electricity. It’s good to be self sufficient, stop making people look crazy! They will be the first ones you run to when you have no more left and you won’t be laughing at them.

If you are from Latin America, you were born as a prepper, so much happens there, people just store water, food, they build strong communities, there is the real case scenario for prepping every day.

I started prepping buying extra canned food. I was laid-off soon after. I never thought that I'd have to prep for not having a job. Apparently, I need to start prepping again.

This is an opinion piece made for social engineering and it worked.
I would actually like to see this subject in schools, with an emphasis on the importance of collective survival if people are going to make it long-term. Panic and violence just lead to unnecessary loss of life and make it far harder to rebuild a society. Contrast panic and looting to the calm, determined unity of Ukrainians responding to losing electricity and water.
well, they HAVE had a bit of a hard life there already. in my opinion they've adapted.
still, there was immense amounts of panic there as well during the first few days of the invasion. and a lot of people have already fled to countries with working infrastructure.

I think it is time to petition our local governments here in Ontario, to start creating; emergency shelters for communities, sending out informational pamphlets or documents for; family emergency preparedness plans'. We as citizens NEED to start creating community plans for emergency situations, funding for bunker and shelter construction, networking for communities to engage and discuss 'practical preparedness' self sufficiency, food cache management , basic survival skill training we NEED to talk more about this and make this a public and main stream focus. nothing over the top, not abandoning our lives and jobs and daily activities.. just moderate adjustments and occasional meetings within the community and hosted by local government , to facilitate and encourage active planning for our communities.. I'ts time everyone.. in fact, it's long overdue. Please reach out to engage in productive and positive preparedness discourse :) it can be a public service effort.. involve great organizations like; Boy Scouts Canada, Salvation Army, Lions Club, Freemason lodges, outdoor gear commercial retailers, water treatment and nuclear power orgs 7 technicians.. make it educational and interactive for the whole family

With every legitimate news source (not legacy media until now) reporting famine scale food shortages coming, it's foolish not to have a food source growing and stored. I'm a prepper and do not live in a bomb shelter with firearms.
"Prepper" is short for a person who's prepared as a hunter is someone who hunts. It's hardly military or extreme.
The news just chose to show the two so the audience would associate them.

If 'society' goes down the drain, even a few YEARS worth of supplies will not be enough. Myself, I expect/hope to reach 80. I'm 60. But I am not planning to do ala Little house on the prairie style. Maybe when I was 20 I might have managed it fine. But I like toilet paper and electric heat etc. When I was 20, I could have played the off grid game. If the 'norm' is only days or weeks of roughing it while life is fixed, I can manage that. But I managed it by refusing to live in a city. Cities are traps during times of strife. The moment the whole money game stops, everything is going with it. Not sure I want to survive that. But I live where nature isn't trying to kill me. I'm only worried about humans.
Probably, if you have a community of interdependence where everyone has a role would work

@@OntarioPrepper checked out yer channel, CAF medic, I'll salute that. I was 031 with the RCR in the 70s. All of my prep is between my ears :) I'm a walk talking encyclopedia. Not much for physical labour any more. But a wise person will ensure I keep fed in a crisis. I'm one of those book worm types. I know stuff.

If they prepare without some kind of gun they will not have anything shortly after SHTF. Hand gun, long gun or shotgun, if you don't have a way to protect what you have someone will take it. Someone with a gun will take everything. You hear people all the time saying "I don't need to prep... I just need to find someone weaker then me that did. And don't forget the Government will be out collecting for the best of all, all that did not prepare.
I have 5 years supply of food clothing. Enough ammo to go around. Enough butt wipe for 25 ppl for 5 years. Tools and extra parts been prepping for 23 years
Funny how they used Jan 6th footage for the “societal breakdown” section…not one prepper was thinking about an hour of unruliness at the Capitol…they’re thinking of the 4 months of race riots in multiple cities😂

Why do I feel CBC left bias, just made a mockery of peoples choice to be prepared. Even Red Cross advocates everyone have 72 hour minimum prep. Could you have used any more stereotyped interviews then the camo guy and the Raccoon hat guy??

I actually thought the people they picked improved my perception of preppers. "Raccoon hat guy" actually seemed pretty reasonable to me. Seems like he's basically teaching outdoor survival skills that everyone ought to know. As he mentioned, that stuff is useful if your car breaks down in the middle of nowhere, not just in the event of total societal collapse. If anything, it was the Toronto guy who wouldn't show his face and claimed to have lots of guns at home who fits the bill of stereotypical paranoid prepper.

We are all addicted to convenience and like all good junkies we have agreed to trade our precious lives for a privately owned "for profit" road of convenience that has taken humanity so far from all that is natural and organic like the ability to feed, clothe, and shelter ourselves, that when the proven unsustainable road of "eternal growth and profit" collapses, .. humanity as we know the filth is finished.

For me it was return. Lot 80s from boy scouts and yeah little cold war nuke fear. So it was going back to old knowledge not used decades. Yeah the secret part for most but dome of us want speak and its done knowing risk but its to try get others to do at least some emergency preparedness . Maybe even dont remember maybe some of the survival response kniwledge that might get by.

It has to do with fear. The question that everyone needs to ask themselves is whether or not the fear is rational. Sadly, ignorance fuels irrational fears. No one calls you a 'prepper' for having smoke detectors in your house because house fires happen all the time. Civil wars, governmental and societal collapse... maybe not so much. Still, we've recently begun to experience instabilities in food supply and unpredictable weather events. As the effects of climate change get worse, being more prepared might become the 'new normal'.

Nope. I’m not scared. I do not fear. I’m prepared. I trust me to look after me and mine, I don’t rely on others if or when society as we know it breaks down. Human beings got too comfortable but our basis needs for survival have never changed.

Your boosters are based on a recreation of a Covid virus from 2020. There have been 50 variants of Covid since then and there are 5 variants beyond Omicron (XBB.1.5) that are getting classified. Your boosters keep reintroducing a version of the virus that you already have built immunity to. It is better to catch a current version of Covid and let your antibodies evolve.
