Great chat. As an S400 owner and someone who exchanged a few emails, I've always been amazed at how hard Mads works to answer all of the emails himself. I hope he's found some help so he doesn't burn out. I've also asked him about matching surround speakers for those of us with a home theater. At the time he had nothing planned yet, but I'm hopeful.
I had a great experience dealing with Mads/Buchardt audio. He is a solid guy who has developed some great products.Still loving my S400s going on two years now.And their new active speakers are so tempting.😍
Excellent interview Jay. I own the very first SE S400 and Mads is a great guy to deal with. I'm very happy for the success he's had with both the 300 and the 400 Keep up the great work Jay.
Yes! Been waiting for this. Great to hear Mads talk and share his inspiration and plans. The knack for a natural sound was instilled early on.. it explains the musicality of his products.. tuned with a musician's ear, or that's how I feel about them. Keep it coming J!
Mads is a SUPER nice guy!! He and his company are top notch.....he even answers all his company support emails personally!! If you haven't heard or tried the S400s do yourself a HUGE favor and give them a shot!! It's risk free!!
Hi Jack. The signatures are only made in 25 pair batches and each in a special finish. We are working on the next finish and it's going to be even more crazy 😅 stay tuned for that. And by the way, the Nordic oak was a nightmare to do, it took so much extra work on that veneer as we had to hand burn with a small wood burner for each small crack in the wood. It made them look amazing but it was a full time job for my brother to burn them and for the 25 pairs he spent a month to do so. Never doing that again 😂
It's so hard to be into this hobby! Just so many great options! I've always wanted to try the s400s, and now I wanna try the Tekton Lore Reference, and maybe the Elac Vela's. I have the Bro3s rn but am looking to upgrade to something a little more refined to go with my Billie amp. It's really fascinating to hear from these ppl in the industry and their thought process behind their work. You can tell they have the passion Jay!
i guess im randomly asking but does anyone know of a tool to get back into an instagram account? I was stupid forgot my login password. I would appreciate any help you can offer me.
@Andy Zyaire I really appreciate your reply. I got to the site thru google and im in the hacking process atm. Seems to take a while so I will reply here later with my results.
Fantastic series Jay. It is great to meet these talented people. It makes you remember that these guys and gals put so much passion into developing a product and no matter what the public opinion of the products success is, that their contribution is so valuable. I would love to know though what components speaker or component manufactures use in the development of their products. I read and watch so much about how important equipment matching can be to the end result, for example, pairing speaker A with amplifier B so I just thought that if manufactures could reveal what equipment they use we could get a closer sense to experiencing what they intended.
I also emailed with him whem I was thinking to order the s400 es, which I did some months later. He is a very nice guy. And those speakers are my passion and my love!
I just got some S400 recently. Hooked them up to the Denon PMA2500NE , They look and sound so sexy. Shame they don't have the stands anymore. But a good match is the Sonus-Faber Unicum stands. Mads seems so chill too ;)
Do the interviews with: Zoltan Bay, from Bayz audio - he will teach you some things regarding speakers...and Tomasz from ZetaZero, audio engineer with 35+ yrs experience - he will teach your audience even more. But prepare, these two guys are super smart, would be awesome to learn from them
What type of home theater receiver would I need to power the speakers along with the center channel and possibly two other speakers? Thanks for any suggestions you were willing to give
D- mads- you need to get on a 5.1, and 7.1 system ESPecially since your focus is on big sound and bass in small cabinets in difficult rooms-THIS is the most common dilemma home theater devotees encounter routinely without a dedicated room ! Given your wide dispersion focus , thsi shoulda slo assist in figuring out which of your passives to use a center channel OR better yet, develop a center channel confirmation for say the S300,S400 to go along with withS700.
Yeah that's sadly a result of going as compact as possible and using a waveguide. Although besides the similar look at first glance, you will notice they are pretty different on many points and they do sound different from each other as well :)
Mads, PLEASE make passive floor standers, cost no object! I would definitely upgrade my S400 to a Buchardt floor stander. Make it a end-game speaker please.
So there IS a replacement for displacement :) Mad props to Mads, he created my dream speaker system , the A500 that I hope I will be able to own sometime in the future...
From the Holfi experimental painter dude, you have still the latest upgrades to be experienced, All the best from LarsBang.com SES min ven.. Fint interview ...
Well my system is located in Denmark, so if you want to listen , come by. My system looks similar to the original Holfi look, and what have done is primarely improving the signal path and the current paths by adding solid core copper.I have modified softstart relays ,added a larger capacity bank, removed as much plastic as possiible in all the wiring. I have modified my Holfi Xandra MP cd player from normal to toploaded , been experimenting with grounding all drive motors ,even the laser head is grounded. I have damped the hole CD drive platform with hardwood, have plans to try with CORIAN. And on and on. IM still working on it ,and all the credit should go to MR Peter Holstein the founder of Holfi, who is constructor and genius behind these construktions, he is still working with the most incredible low loss dipol loudspeaker constructions in the world..By the way my system is a multi channel system ..
@@larsbang696 very inspiring Lars. I am afraid that most of those mods are out of reach for me aside from improving signal paths adding copper and removing plastic from wiring. How much do you think that those mods contributed to your results?
Yeah it was Holfi Audio. And remember, it was a completely custom version of it directly build and tuned to the room it was in :) it belongs to a painter called Lars Bang. You can find him on Facebook if you want to see this. Took him dacades to build 😊

I love my S400s with Hegel H190! I’m so happy that such a small company as Buchardt Audio made such a great speaker! Thanks!

Great interview, great guy! The S400 are fantastic. I have them with a Lyngdorf TDAI-2170 and an Aperion 12D sub.
Great interview, Jay...and Mads seems like a really down to earth fellow...one that many of us could support!
The best ever small speaker... Makes ls50 seem like a toy ...very smart guy

I talked to that guy for 20 mins at a Hifi show in Hamburg.
I just now realize that it wasnt a sales rep, I had no idea ;-)
He looks like young Larry Bird.
Thanks, Jay, for this wonderful interview with the promising low-profile Buchardt visionary. I myself am thinking of getting an S400 but we don't have an agent in my country (Thailand).
They ship free worldwide, tax and import fees included.
Just ordered my first pair of S400’s. Looking forward to see how they pair with my Cambridge CXA-81! Great interview
Great speakers I run mine with hegel h190 and dual rel subwoofers fantastic sound can listen all day with no fatigue.
Woot Beautiful Speaker ...haven’t heard yet. Have seen it disassembled...but. Love the design work

Nice work on the interview. Nicely balanced the length of time you were talking vs Mads.

Jay waiting for the floordtanders, but there are almost no reviews of them, maybe they are too expensive to send around?

You gonna be doing a review on the a500's? I'm loving them so far.
Another good one Jay.Cheers
Anyone else notice striking similarity between Amphion and Buchardt speakers? (at least visually, haven't compared specs yet)
We will be doing a passive floorstander, but it would never be able to beat our actives, so if you want the best, that's the route you have to go
When will we see a review of the new A700??
I guess my next speakers in more than 20 years are going to be Buchardt ( need more comparison between the A500 & A700 to decide )
a500 is enough
Great job!
I wonder if Buchardt has any plans to come out with a tower speaker? I think it would be of interest if they did.
Under one month and it should be announced with a pre order campaign. Years of work behind these and they are incredible! 😍 Stay tuned
Mads Buchardt stop teasing us, lol
Scrimping and saving my pennies for those S400s.

It's called a skyline deffuser. :)

Anyone caught the name of that defunct company? Aulfie? Aulfy? couldnt find much on google
And Oh yeah! Many thanks for this amazing content bud. love these interviews. Tremendous insight.
I think I heard Holfi...found this, but link to their site doesn't get you there...hifi-products.com/Holfi-Audio-International-manufacturer-327.html

@@madsbuchardt7845 Mad lad,, thanks Mads 😁
Nice!
Buchardt S400 or KEF R3? Need help...
I have a video on that
@@Jayiyagi I have watched it and can not still pull a favorite.
Based on NBT and other videos, I think your components make a big diff with your choice.
Mads looks like a young Andrew Jones.
My Totem Storm sub has 2 passive radiators.
What earbuds does Mads have in his ears?
Jarbra 75. Used them for walking and running, but I needed something with mics for this as it was recorded on my phone 😂

This guy makes super audio but his phone reception is the worst I've ever heard. I think he needs to buy a better mic.
